    My 4 month old gsd has learned to go to her crate when I say "go nap or go bed". Also she has learned to "go out" if we are in the kitchen and I point to the living room and say "go out." This isint exactly the same but if I tell her "go find ball etc she will look for it. I told her go find ball and pointed to her toy basket and I said basket and she retrieved it from the basket. She amazes me everyday. Love all your videos!

    Thank you Robert! I watched your videos on this a few months ago, with daily practice my 1 year old Staffy now loves this game.. With a couple of warm up reps I can send him to anything up to around 20m away so far. I can't thank you enough for everything you share, my dog would not be the same, nor as happy and confidant, if not for your knowledge and videos :)

    That "Carpet Square" is BRILLIANT, Thank You! Easy to carry around, can pull out and use it easily on a walk, unlike carrying around a big plastic dish or disk.😄❤👍👍

    Great video on teaching your do to touch. This is something I have yet to teach Ruby but plan on it. Working a few other tricks right now.

  • @Karina-Loves-Andreas
    @Karina-Loves-Andreas 3 года назад

    I'm already using the word "touch" for a short distance "come" & literally touch my fingers. I think I'll use the German "kontact", which basically sounds just like "contact"😁🐾

  • @LauraHopkinsCDL

    I love teaching the send away. I start with a carpet square but then just use an old lead/leash tied up for a marker for the dog to go to. Then fade that so she just keeps going until she gets another command like in distance control. Great video. Thank you Robert. I have a grumpy bitch in Heat : ) Very early walks and lots of road work but not a chance of an unplanned mating. : )

    • @elenic4590
      @elenic4590 4 года назад

      Do you give a different cue or change the cue? We have mastered "target" at distance and I would like to fade the landmark (using a pie tin) so they can just learn "go out" until cued otherwise. But I'm unsure of how to communicate direction or how to fade the target.

    Robert, I am always excited to see your daily video posts. I started teaching, Zeus the touch command, but my hand is the target. Will this way of training the touch command confuse him when I try to teach him to touch an object at various distances?

    • @RobertCabralDogs
      @RobertCabralDogs  5 лет назад +4

      you can use a post it note on your hand and then move it.

    Hey Robert, thanks for the video. if I want my dog to to go out and look back at me for a command can I got him to do so without having something to touch.? I’ve seen k9 handlers use a mat in the distance and tell the dog to place then eventually fade the mat away..... also what would goofy go to if you told him to touch and there was no mat and no pole. ? ? . Like in a park or public somewhere

    Thank you. How best begin teaching a dog to heel properly.He sit but is too hyperactive to stay. She a very smart 8 mo. old gun dog that I’m not hunting. Using her for a domestic pet. Great dog but very hyperactive. Acts sometimes like an airhead, but I think she’s s very emery dog. After heeling, we be in walking on a lead. Should be fun.

    Mind telling us what your Mal weighs? Looks pretty buff! Mine is only 65lbs. I’d like him a little larger but I’m told 65 is a good weight. He’s only 2 years old although.

    • @sunnybunny3400
      @sunnybunny3400 5 лет назад

      Jay Vincent for a male that’s not that bad. I have a 55 pound female. Belgians aren’t supposed to be giant. But there is a breeder in NC that breeds them be a little bigger (not extreme, something like Goody, maybe a tad bigger) but she doesn’t ruin them. Where I take mine for protection work, there’s another male there named Iroh who is bigger than Goofy, but lean and he is a beast.! I think his owner said he about 70lbs. But he’s all muscle

    Robert, Goofy is fantastic at staying in the sit/place/down command until you tell him to break. How long would you say it took him to grasp this concept? I have a 14-month old husky/pit pup that I adopted at 9 months. His threshold is at best about 2 mins, but less if there are distractions. I am trying to get a good grasp on how this progress is and not push him beyond what he is capable of or set my own expectations too high. He is a very smart dog, though, and a quick learner so sometimes I feel that he knows what I am expecting of him, but brushes me off anyhow. If you have a video you recommend, please feel free to share the link!

      K M he really is. But there’s one that does dog protection with us that has one bigger than him. There’s a breeder in NC (I think) that breeds them to be on the larger side, but without ruining the dog and not going to the extreme
