      @@Cristina-ps7om I think you get to a point where if it affects your life that much why not get a surgery? A normal person would never have to answer to why they did a cosmetic surgery, I think Amelia has done it in a very responsible way. It’s different to the people who seem to get every surgery under the sun just because it would be nice or they can afford to.

    My mum has severe psoriasis that covers every inch of her body, and when my sister used to ask her what they were she told her they were happy spots. While topically applied collagen will moisturize the skin, that's about the extent of what it can do. Applying collagen topically has never been shown to stimulate collagen synthesis or growth. This is because collagens have molecular weights making them too large to penetrate the top layer of skin.

    • @AssassinNasa16
      @AssassinNasa16 3 года назад +4

      So would you recommend consuming collagen powder or tablets as opposed to wasting money on collagen skincare? xx

    • @fridaoropeza8965
      @fridaoropeza8965 3 года назад +15

      @@AssassinNasa16 Some studies show that taking collagen supplements for several months can improve skin elasticity, (i.e., wrinkles and roughness) as well as signs of aging. Others have shown that consuming collagen can increase density in bones weakened with age and can improve joint, back and knee pain. But many of these studies are small and funded by companies that make the product, increasing the opportunity for bias in the results.
      Personally I have ear people tell me they saw and felt improvements in joint, back and knee pain but couldn't tell a difference in the other categories.
      But if you want big changes on your skin, there are so many other things you can do, and there is a lot of studies backing them off, (i.e., retinol, sunscreen, aha, bha, azeliac acid, niacinamide, ascorbyl glucoside, bakuchiol, peptides, ceramides, lasers, fillers and so many others)
      I think my biggest advice is know your needs, concerns and things you want to improve on, and approach them from a science perpective (a dermatologist one), so things that matter are ingredients, formulations, try to be gently with your skin and never forget sunscreen

    Actually was on the verge of crying when you talked about your insecurity. To be that young and feel like something was wrong with you because of a feature you've been gifted with is a horrible feeling. I remember growing up and constantly being made fun of by boys in my school - they would tell me I was fat over and over, and it made me super conscious about my body. In my late teens, I realized I was not fat at all. Now, I'm even bigger than I was in my teens and it's still a struggle to fully love my body the way it is. I feel super shy showing people my body, having to lift my shirt for even a medical exam scares me still because I'm so scared of being judged for my belly fat or scared that someone's gonna comment about my weight. I think having the right people around you to say you're beautiful is so important albeit a bit superficial. Kids nowadays are so lucky to grow up with role models like Jameela Jamil and these IG pages who are showing what they actually look like irl.

Thank you for being transparent - I think it’s really important, especially with young girls, that they know the person they want to look like has had something done. Insecurities can run deep... when I was 16, my mom "convinced me" to have a breast reduction. She basically told me my ample chesticles would give me back pain later, and if we went for surgery before I was 18, it would be covered by family insurance as a "medical" intervention. I remember she had to go to many surgeons, and only one of them agreed to operate on such a young woman.. Ironically, perhaps, it was a woman. My mom straight up told me to lie to the doctor and say my back was hurting. I remember what convinced me to do it was that she told me I would be able to shop for blouses and shirts without worrying about my big boobs fitting them. That, was the convincing argument for 16 yo me. Fashion. I regret it now, there's shame associated to my scars.. Now as an adult, seeing how uncomfortable my mom is with her boobs and her body even now, I realize she was TOTALLY projecting her own insecurities on me. She didn't even realize it, but because she didn't want me to feel insecure about my body, she convinced me to alter it. I'm glad you've waited long enough to make this informed choice of surgery as an adult, and that you're willing to do the work on your insecurities internally, and not just externally! When you let insecurities fester, without giving yourself the tools to work on them, you don't only risk your own well being, but that of others around you, too. Insecurities spread. Not always as dramatically as in my story, but I mean... when you're cultivating a negative body image, others can be lead to having thoughts about themselves, like you with the Gisele example, you compare yourself and those invasive thoughts might end up affecting you. It's almost EXPECTED for us women to hate a part of ourselves, Mean Girls style! So really, being kinder to ourselves and to our bodies is like being kinder to the world. ❤ Whatever works for you, it works for me too! There's no shame in having scars, visible or not. You look great no matter what. Ps, Also love the haiiiir~! 😘

      @@hannahr71 Thank you for reading my TED talk!! xD But yeah, everyone goes through things, and shame is a natural feeling for social beings, even dolphins are probably ashamed when they fail to catch a prey in front of their buddies, or have scars from a predator attack. xD It comes with the territory of being self-conscious, social beings. Luckily, I'm a VERY self-aware person, and awareness is the first step in controlling insecurities and feelings of shame! But we're all just human, emotions can also control us, and it's okay to feel the feels sometimes. Being bullied for one's looks or feeling inadequate also makes us more compassionate people, it makes us able to empathize with others going through some similar traumas. 😘

    Ma’am, no one, NO ONE should be made to feel the way you have about your insecurities. Imagine having so little in your life that you feel the need to comment on the length of someone’s torso!
    Also no one has shinier more healthy looking hair than you. I need whatever you’re using in my life rn.
    Thank you so much for sharing your news with us, you owe us nothing. I’m so pleased that you’re happy with it! The surgeon is a wizard, I know it’s still swollen but it’s so subtle and you still look like you! Beautiful before and after. 🌈💕

    I have a lot of thoughts on this...
    I am a similar age to you, and I think the era we group up in is 100% less damaging than the instant insta world we see today. Seeing models and perfect celebs on magazine covers seemed completely separate to me - because I knew that they lived a different life and they weren't like "normal people" so I would never have to worry about it because I has no interest in being famous etc...
    Nowadays, people are seeing their friends, families and 'influencers" (who are essentially like your every day celebrity) online instead and everyone is still scared to show their imperfections. We are no longer comparing ourselves to "celebrities" but to everyday normal people on their instagrams accounts - and the problem is that the every day normal people are altering themselves to fit a unobtainable standard for most people. e.g. whether its using simple filters or people having lip fillers etc because its so so easy to get it done now and people are not happy with having small lips (?!?!?!).
    I totally understand that your insecurity led you to have this procedure, and I know that most of us would have done the same.. I just wish society was different and that we all started to embrace what we have and stand up for it. I am all for this wave of body positivity online now and I hope it continues to grow... for now I don't think it's enough. This age of instagram and youtube etc is such an opportunity to start changing the beauty standards forever!!!!
    p.s. I also have a 'big nose' and I hope that other people in this club stand with me in accepting our beautiful faces :D

Having whit skin and big nose with blue eyes was like the most beautiful woman considered. I have seen girls bleaching their skin to have fair skin and there are girls getting glutathione injections to get fair complexion. Moved to another country and here the beautiful standards are pole apart. . Now I don't even care anymore. People here compliment me for having small nose and golden yellowish complexion. I think we should be happy in our body as we can't please everyone.

I had a similar thing happen to me playing with kids at a church. We were playing hide and seek, I was hiding and could hear one of the boys say, "Isn't she the ugliest girl you've ever seen?" It cut so deep. Ugh. Like I could pinpoint that moment as the time I started being aware of what I looked like to boys.

    Honestly, I can relate to this so much. I always grew up knowing I had a "bigger" nose and I constantly felt like I wasn't as pretty or worthy as my friends who had smaller more petite features. I think I was around the age of 7 or 8 when I just told myself that I was ugly and it was easier to just accept that rather than try to change how I looked. These insecurities run so deep! I'm almost 30 as well and still trying to tell myself that I'm not that little kid anymore. Easier said than done though! Thank you for being so open about this. Why are we so hard on ourselves? My nose has always been an insecurity of mine and my lips. Now my lips are normal or maybe small because everyone is getting injections. My boobs are so small, I’ve always wanted implants. I’ve always watched your videos and just saw beauty and I still do. Whatever you have decided to do.. I support because, this may sound weird, but for many, surgery or injections is like a red lip, if it gives you a boost of self confidence.. you do it. People will judge regardless, just do whatever make YOU happy.
    My sons have seen my c section scar, my stretch marks and I point out their beauty marks and mine (moles). I say thank you because without them, I wouldn’t have my scars and marks and they mean love. This conversation is helpful 🥰🥰

    That 'big nose' comment is something that I often get since I was a child. However, I can honestly say that the teasings didn't and don't really hurt me because I know for a fact that it is indeed big and I even make fun of it myself. 😂 So if anyone wants to insult me, they have to look for another flaw because me and my nose are at peace with each other. ✌️👃🤣 (I respect the decision you made for yourself though. 😘)

I spent like 8 years researching and looking into it before I went for it. Only met with one doctor but I knew it was the right decision as soon as I had the consult. I don’t think plastic surgery is a decision to be made lightly, but when it’s something that’s such a deep seated insecurity, something you think about on a daily basis, it is 100% worth considering. Noses are one of the biggest common insecurities I've noticed - I had it for the longest time and would always look at all my friends/girls in the same year during class and just wished I had their nose, their face shape, their lips.
    Sometimes I tried to make it better by telling my friends I didn't like my nose, hoping they would reassure me with sincerity that they disagree - but I was never satisfied because I always felt they were lying. But that's what happens when you rely on other humans to give you gratification and validation, you only think you're beautiful if somebody else sees it (especially the popular, or 'attractive' people).
    What I eventually realised through life was this holy trinity: Heart, Mindset, Company.
    Heart - even the most outwardly attractive people can look ugly when their character, morals and heart are all ugly. You notice it and you notice that those who are so good and kind glow the brightest to you, they radiate and you feel safest around them, you find them genuinely beautiful in an infinite, sustainable way.
    Mindset - Finally understanding that beauty is so much based on perspective. People fall in love with all sorts of features, because it's so personal. The most beautiful woman award will never ever be agreed upon because the comments will name another woman they find more beautiful (to them).
    Company: When I got to college and uni, I realised the friends I chose to hang around (thank God) were those who didn't focus on appearance and gossiping about people's flaws but on bettering themselves and their faith, on learning to benefit those around them. I realised I had the power to choose who I spent my time and mind with (including in when choosing my partner), and who I would not spend another moment with except for politeness.
    I pray we all can teach this shift to the future generations AND our own, because we there's so much beauty in all of us that we don't see!❤
    Also, in my faith there's this prayer that is recommended for us to say when we look in the mirror:
    "God, beautify my character as You have beautified my creation"
    I love it because it reminds us every single day that we are made perfectly and that what counts more than anything is our heart and our character 🌼🙏🏼
    P.S I also was taught moles were beauty spots!! So thankful

    I've been your subscriber for years now but haven't been watching your videos consistently, mostly because life and mood and youtube algorithm. I just wanted to say that I appreciate how real you are with us, your subscribers, and that hasn't changed much since I started watching you. I always thought you're beautiful and I appreciated that you are not doing a lot of body modifications to look like one of million girls on IG now with literally the same face and same body. I still appreciate that. This video is honest and lovely and your new nose suits your face and you still look uniquely you, beautiful as always. I always thought that plastic surgery is successful if it makes person who got it feel better about themselves and therefore improves their quality of life. It seems like your rhinoplasty did that for you, which makes me very happy for you. I hope you're feeling as good as you look in this trying year and I'm sending you all my love.❤️
