Fun Fact: Tobey actually caught all that food on the tray in real life. He did the take over and over again till he got it. No special effects used whatsoever. So yeah, good reflexes =)
I grew up with the original trilogy and my Mom said I was crazy for it, and she wasn’t lying, I still am to this day and my favorite Spider-Man movie ever is Spider-Man 2 (2004), it’s a MARVEL-ous masterpiece!
Exactly….if it wasn’t for this film, MCU wouldn’t have been existed….but of course there are other Marvel properties before this such as Blade and X-Men…..
It’s kinda cheesy, but “With great power, comes great responsibility” is unironically one of my most fundamental guiding moral principles, and I heard it first from this movie.
To be honest, I don't mind beginning credit sequences as long as they are memorable and not boring. This is the only series where I actually enjoy watching the credits because the art and the web pattern and the font is so pleasing to the eye, along with playing the amazing scores. There's just nothing like it and there will never be anything like it again.
The reflexes thing is actually accurate as Tobey legit had to catch everything onto the plate, that shot wasn’t cgi and was redone a bunch of times to get it right
The first Spider-Man movie , was some of best of the best for me , I idolised character of Peter ever since especially his principles & moral values , I love Sam Raimi way of telling a story 🙌🏾🙌🏾 Fun fact : the scene with canteen tray catching the food was all practical & Toby did it all by himself respect
In the comics it's later revealed that the spider chose Peter, that he was meant to be one of the anamorphic superheroes. Which sounds like an unimportant detail, but let's just say that it might become very important with a certain vampiric interdimensional traveler now that there's a multiverse.
Did they ever actually confirm that? I remember it as one of those "maybe it was true, maybe Ezekiel was just messing with Peter" things. I actually really liked JMS's run, but it was great that a lot of the 'world shattering' could have just been whatever the mystic version of technobabble is (mytho-babble? magi-babble? arcano-babble? I kind of like the first one) as part of Ezekiel being a bastard.
The teacher thing was pretty funny. In reality most of the actors who played students were in their 20's while the teacher's actor was only a couple years older than the rest of them. But it's really not that weird. I had a teacher in high school when I was 17-18 years old and she was fresh out of college and only 22-23 at the time. It was a bit weird to see her on the other side of that desk when she looked like she should've been with us.
Funny story, we went on a college trip to Westminster and the staff refused to believe our teacher was actually our teacher because he looked about 17. He had to get his ID card and staff number out, and the workers looked so embarrassed 😂
I had a teacher/professor like that when I was in college. He’d only left uni 2 years before starting his job at the college, he’d spend so much time just smoking in the smoking area joking and laughing with us. Was hard to think f him as a member of staff sometimes 😂
had a math teacher my senior year who was 23-24, and I think that was her 2nd or 3rd year teaching too. She graduated highschool or started college classes at 16 or something like that
The guy playing Flash Thompson (also Snyder's Deathstroke) is a comic nerd who auditioned for Peter knowing he was wrong for the part. He basically showed up and used the audition to pitch himself as Flash.
13:27 Yes he would. He did exactly the same thing in the comics. He overheard the cops talking about the criminal who shot his uncle, and immediately put on his costume and went to go get him. The guy who played that teacher was 28 years old. It's not unusual for a teacher to be that young, some of them start their training right out of high school.
Cool! This was the first Spider Man movie I saw in theaters! It took them 15 years to make it right. Tobey Hooper was going to make his own SPIDER MAN movie in 1985, but Cannon Films Studio slashed the budget, canceling production. In 1994, James Cameron, TITANIC, ALIENS AVATAR, was going to direct the film, with Leo DiCaprio as Spider Man and Arnold Schwarzenegger As Doc Ock, Lance Henriksen ad Electro, and Michael Biehn as Sandman, but the project was scrapped after Carolco filed for Bankruptcy in 1995.
I always took it as MJ noticing his eyes and height because he’s finally standing up straight and looking people in the eyes since he’s starting to gain confidence in himself
@@athiravi6693 Hmm, x for doubt. But it'll take your word for it, you were there and I weren't after all. But I just felt your parents would have shown you other stuff before that.
The actor playing the teacher was actually younger than the actor player Flash. This was still the era when Hollywood cast 30 year olds as high schoolers. We’ve kinda moved away from that since then. I remember growing up watching movies like this as a kid and expecting everyone in high school to look like that. But you get to actual high school in real life and realize everyone still looks like kids.
Fun fact: In the comics Flash and Peter became friends after high school, (and his aggressive/bullying behavior was explained back in the 90’s as being the result of Flash, and his sister being abused by his alcoholic cop father,) also Flash is a veteran, and a super hero in his own right.
Simply remarkable production. Considering the newest installment of the Spider-Man movies "No way home" just released, seeing this movie brings back worlds of nostalgia. Phenomenally crafted creation. Over all of the movies made, i believe this one to have been my favorite. However, now i believe the amazing Spider-Man to be because of the difference in story telling I've noticed now as an adult.
Genuinely terrified rn. I found this channel and realised that I literally watched everything you did for the first time at the same goddamn month (twd, stranger things, obx)
Willam Defoe is the absolutely best spiderman villain ever. The level of campy-ness and goofiness he brought to the Green Goblin is absolutely amazing!
Roland Emmerich, Tim Burton, Ang Lee, Chris Columbus, Michael Bay, M. Night Shymalan, Barry Sonnenfeld, Tony Scott and David Fincher were considered for directing the project.
Also the thing with New Yorkers coming together was really important and was done to show New York coming together after 9/11 since the movie came out the year after.
I was about the same age when it came out but watched it a few years later. Also, at the moment, my favorite foreign movie from the same year is Ju-on: The Grudge from Japan
Here’s a not so fun fact about this film: back when the film was teased in 2001 there was a trailer made where robbers were caught in a web that was between…..the world trade centre. When 9/11 happened that trailer was pulled form airing any further.
What I like about this Spider-Man more than the one Andrew Garfield was in, is the spider was not genetically specific to Peter Parker's DNA it was coincidence that made Peter Parker Spider-Man not fate
I love your look in this video!! It gives me iron spider vibes. Anyway heheh. I agree with you so much! It’s either their outfits made them look really old or the actors they chose are just genuinely ancient looking. That’s why I really appreciate the Tom Holland version. They got much younger people for the main cast and for the cast for the school. And the special effects! Oh my gosh. It’s so dated but there’s a charm to them. Some of them look pretty good despite being old. I loved the way you imitated and mocked MJ lol, as well as the other characters. Some of the dialogue is pretty cringe but hey, they’re effective and memorable.
I just looked up the song you sang. And as a result, I heard “Come Out And Play” by Billie Eilish for the first time. Such a beautiful song I actually got teary eyed. 🥰🥰🥰
The actor that played flash thompson in this spider-man flick is Joe Manganiello. He played Deathstroke in those clips in Zack Snyder's Batman v. Superman & Justice League. He was also that werewolf guy Sookie stackhouse was dating in the True Blood TV series.
Without a doubt, single-handedly the best portrayal of Spiderman (to date) is Ange's hair in this video. I honestly cried tears of joy watching its performance. Absolute stellar casting.
They all look the same age (even teacher) because they probably were. Toby Maguire was 27 at this time, Kirsten Dunst was 20 and James Franco was 24. When William Defoe lays down on the lab bench and s "It's cold" that wasn't in the script but they kept it in because it was spontaneous.
20:15 Wow! This more than anything you said even more so than you saying you were two when this came out... This made me feel old. You here "Come out to play" and you start singing Billie, I heard "Come out to play" and I jump straight to: "You gotta keep 'em separated..."
You gotta check out the second one which is arguably the best Spiderman movie of all time and the improvements in the CGI and budget is insane I feel like watching Spiderman 2 is way more important than the first one especially when it comes to a movie that will hype you up for No way home
This movie was release the same year as I was born haha. Anyways, you're watching this just in time for Spider Man No Way Home which releases December 17th
