It surprises me (but then it kind of doesn't) of the amount of COD fanboys/XD haters, jumping in on the comments in various videos from various creators putting the boot in and having a laugh about XD's closure. With it now gone, you're just going to see Activision double down again with their shady engagement practices to entice mugs into purchasing skins and so on, whilst providing ever worsening games year on year. Sigh, 🤦♂ XD is/was probably the closest competition COD has for 6 v 6 multi player FPS shooter, drawing a line in the sand and proudly planting a flag saying a big F.U to SBMM and EOMM. Sigh, I'm at the point where I think I'm going to walk away from FPS. Between greedy corporations and shareholders bleeding everything dry, to the number of people using cheats or 3rd party devices like Cronus etc in order to put together a tiktok reel, it's amazing how sh*t online gaming has become over the last 10 years, despite the massive advances in technology. Grrr. Rant over.

sbmm does have a place in games but not a casual fps shooter. it’s understandable in a game like “The Finals” because there’s people who are insanely talented and are extremely good, the difference between cod and the finals is skill. it takes skill to be good at the finals, not cod.
I’m glad I don’t stick to one game rather I play many other games as well, just sucks to see a competition between cod and Xdefiant but since that’s gone, seems like other games later on may fall the same path and while cod fan boys be throwing their life savings away for a stale cod game, I’ll be playing games that keeps my interest and supports casual fun over competitive.

As much as I would love for a game to bring competition to COD Xdefiant only really shows us how hard it will be for any company to take players from COD. Anyone to has been with COD for years is more likely to just stick with it because you know what you are getting and that the game will last its cycle. Unless another company has a few hundred million to throw at making a “COD killer” there never will be one. What other games will not only give players a multiplayer but also a campaign and zombies mode as well?
Never played XDefiant, and haven't played CoD multiplayer since United Offensive, ( DayOfDefeat + Planetside2 guy here ) but it's always sad to see another one go down. Planetside3 isn't anywhere on the horizon and PS2 is getting long in the tooth ( tugs collar )
If you're looking for another game with just the same amount of passion, communication and commitment in the FPS Genre I'd highly recommend The Finals, a game similar to XDefiant in terms that it also has a Battle Pass, and is Free To Play. It definitely plays completely different than a CoD-like game though, and the character customisation is on another level! I'd love to see what you think of how it implements monetization and see if you think if its worth players time like XDefiant was. Cheers
I hope you're right Scotty. A positive take away and a learning experience is a constructive thing to take away from Xdefiant. I can relate more than you know. I played a f-ton of high level street fighter. Every entry since SF4 has gotten worse. It's so bad now that I'm waiting on another IP to release in hopes that it will respark the true FGC(Fighting game Community). I can't tell you how many times I've reinstalled SF6. It's ok, but the meta play is complete trash. SF used to be known for the best meta play in fighters. You let these IPs go on for too long and they all turn to paste. I'm playing a lot of smaller fighters, but just until something else comes. MK1 is throwup and Tekken is playschool level meta.
I appreciate your positive outlook on the whole thing... nothing but negativity and sadness is all I've seen so far. Personally i been really upset about the whole dam thing, still am.
my question is why are they treating this game worse than battlefront 2 ? why don’t they want ppl to continue to play it? or for new players to start? they’re acting like it’s the ugly step child…they have FAR WORSE games. i mean if i wanna play battlefront 2 i can still go play online to this day, almost a decade later.

ubi hamstrung the game by telling them to use the wrong engine , if they had used a fps one which ubi has they would have had more time to make content for launch instead of a total rebuild and then make content and then start fire fighting all the bugs that cropped up and started creeping back into the game etc. i did at one stage say the games survival depends in part on how much ubi wants the engine converted for other cheap f2p fps games but the rumours started and it was clear that they wernt even bothered about that , all they wanted was a cheap cash cow to milk !. and with the announcement before s3 drops and the fact that they have now said we will get s3 but not when we will now get it kind of tells me that they havnt that much confidence in s3 and i wouldnt be surprised if they in the end decide to bin s3. i did have a small thought that this maybe a way to get interest in the game by getting everyone talking about it being cancelled and they can then turn around and say something like "we have seen the out pouring of love for the game from the fans and the online support for it so we have listened to this and we are going to bring it back" , but as they have decided to shut 2 studios and lay devs off i cant see this happening (its the sort of thing tv companies do to please the fans of shows in a "hey we hear you" type of way after they have binned a show) and the whole laying off the devs also links back to s3 may not even come out.
Nah, it is genuinely shutting down... It is what it is, Ubisoft had to do what's best for business... They couldn't risk the possibility of it not taking off, even if it looked like it could... Too much risk, without the reward...
The game lasted less than six months and you’re saying that’s good. Nobody wanted to play the game so that means it’s a bad game. The game was so good. What do you think they would spend money while they played the game no. 277 employees at $8000 a year that’s over 22 million a year
Tried xDefiant when it first came out. Was completely unplayable due to multiple reasons. Kinda amazed how they managed to pull their toys in the same sandbox and get it to where it ''was'' now. I don't think they closed the project because of non-profit, its more about some pressure from other directions that facilitated this. Sounds very similar to what happened to SplitGate... But of course twonks will celebrate these news with another overpriced battlepass and Niki Minaj skin. Funny how world works...
Was high on this game season 1, and for whatever reason just before the release of season 2 I stopped playing and never came back, played a game a couple days ago and got off as soon as the game ended. Doesnt surprise me at this point. Hopefully we get something simmilair and decent in the future

I can't be as optimistic as BritTruth here. There are way too many great game ideas that are just dead. Ideas that held up when they came out 20+ years ago, and would still hold up today - but for some reason or another unrelated to gameplay, they failed or were simply only a little profitable. In this industry, success and quality are two completely separate concepts that do not affect each other at all. XDefiant is now just another game in a decades long history that didn't make profit, so everyone who is incapable of critical thinking now believes everything about it was bad and they will not be copying any of it.

With it now gone, you're just going to see Activision double down again with their shady engagement practices to entice mugs into purchasing skins and so on, whilst providing ever worsening games year on year. Sigh, 🤦♂
XD is/was probably the closest competition COD has for 6 v 6 multi player FPS shooter, drawing a line in the sand and proudly planting a flag saying a big F.U to SBMM and EOMM.
Grrr. Rant over.
those fanboys can’t see the big picture. if XD goes away, activision will successfully drain the community to the bone and set this genre a blaze, not in a good way either. i hope and pray XD can come back once ubisoft is bought. maybe tencent will bring it back. i know the price we would have to pay…but i think the micro transactions are worth it!
sbmm does have a place in games but not a casual fps shooter. it’s understandable in a game like “The Finals” because there’s people who are insanely talented and are extremely good, the difference between cod and the finals is skill. it takes skill to be good at the finals, not cod.
They love their game so much they are in XD comments all day long 😂😂 I have never commented on a CoD video, you know why? Because I don’t gaf about it.
@@Sofiarey285 that’s why I prefer to play other games, plus other games have better fandoms then cod. Just let them eat up whatever game they get. Plus I’ll be in support for mark if he ever plans on making another game
Fries in the bag
I'll be watching brotherman. Let me know where you're going next. I'll defiant until the end, even if it's just me listening to the title screen music.
Thanks, mate… 😎
Cant Mark and his team ressurect XDefiant if they would create their own studio?
I did say that’s an option in the video, but it wouldn’t be the same, obviously… We’ll see where they go and what happens… 😎
Wouldn't be XD would be a different engine all together.
@@Xsavagementailty I just said the same thing to someone else…
DOD brings me back great memories.
Cheers
I’ve got The Finals on the list, as well as Shatterline… 😎
@@ScottyMcGaming Sweet, can't wait to see some proper game reviews on your channel 😎
I would gladly pay $30-$50 for XDefiant if it were to come back with a guarantee it wont shut down so soon.
Hell yeah.. whatever mark comes up with next...i am onboard.... xdefiant made fps fun again.
It is disappointing, but I like to look on the bright side… There’s a lot of good came from the game… 😎
If anything, if there was no XDef i would never stumble upon your channel (also Nytefall, Jack..) so yeah, cool comunity, no bs.. thx mate!
Couldn't agree more... 😎
my question is why are they treating this game worse than battlefront 2 ? why don’t they want ppl to continue to play it? or for new players to start? they’re acting like it’s the ugly step child…they have FAR WORSE games. i mean if i wanna play battlefront 2 i can still go play online to this day, almost a decade later.
They don’t want people to play so they don’t have to pay more money for servers
Ubisoft are greedy
Cause maybe it's just trash buddy
@@pyrothefriendlyarsonist9195 Greedy or not, Ubisoft are bleeding money and have been all year with failure after failure. I really think XD would not have been shutdown at least not right away if they didnt fumble every single game they released this year.
Because battlefront 2 is better than xdefiant
Im gonna be real the game had horrible graphics, art style, gunplay and balancing not to mention they hardly added content or fixed any problems
Most of that is down to opinion, and you're entitled to that... The game was never going to appeal to everyone... Love it, or hate it, it had its own community... 😎
i looked at shatterline and it looks like xd in style with abilities and ults etc and tbh its made me think about firing up d2 as i used to live in the crucible and i enjoyed that but i tried it a few months ago and the "ring rust" had set in plus when i played that i had a scuff pad so when the muscle memory started to come back i was reaching for buttons that i no longer had , which meant i died a lot lol.
Mate, I just spent the last 3 hours playing Shatterline, it is basically XD... It's a lot of fun... 😎
@@ScottyMcGamingare you going to do a vid on your thoughts? , and some info like f2p , xplay , sbmm etc ? And other good stuff ?
@ yup 😎
@@ScottyMcGaming Don't leave out that they scammed their previous customers and sold their soul to Crypto NFT Slop tho.
Maybe Mark Ruben should hand over the dev and publishing to Steam? that would save the game.
I can hope there's a light down the tunnel for XD in the future maybe it makes a comeback and becomes stronger then ever
But for now i wait for Marvel Rivals tomorrow, play some Titanfall 2
Thanks Scotty you are a legend man, i hope your channel grows further and further
You are GOATED
Thanks, matey… I’ve got plenty lined up… 😎
This proves that almost 15 million players out their are looking for a game like X defiant without sbmm or just tired of cod
With the right publisher and proper support, they would have had it…
@ 1000% right
But look where it is now😂😂😂😂
@@Lordoctane12 look where cod and gaming in general is at now it’s more of a casino game where you just throw money at it smh
@ doesn’t matter since b06 is the most played cod after 30 days
ubi hamstrung the game by telling them to use the wrong engine , if they had used a fps one which ubi has they would have had more time to make content for launch instead of a total rebuild and then make content and then start fire fighting all the bugs that cropped up and started creeping back into the game etc.
i did at one stage say the games survival depends in part on how much ubi wants the engine converted for other cheap f2p fps games but the rumours started and it was clear that they wernt even bothered about that , all they wanted was a cheap cash cow to milk !.
and with the announcement before s3 drops and the fact that they have now said we will get s3 but not when we will now get it kind of tells me that they havnt that much confidence in s3 and i wouldnt be surprised if they in the end decide to bin s3.
i did have a small thought that this maybe a way to get interest in the game by getting everyone talking about it being cancelled and they can then turn around and say something like "we have seen the out pouring of love for the game from the fans and the online support for it so we have listened to this and we are going to bring it back" , but as they have decided to shut 2 studios and lay devs off i cant see this happening (its the sort of thing tv companies do to please the fans of shows in a "hey we hear you" type of way after they have binned a show) and the whole laying off the devs also links back to s3 may not even come out.
277 employees at $8000 a year that’s over 22 million a year
I'd play xdefiant over cod anyday
Game lasted 6 months and it showed it's the game everyone needed 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The cope here is legitimately insane
Tried xDefiant when it first came out. Was completely unplayable due to multiple reasons. Kinda amazed how they managed to pull their toys in the same sandbox and get it to where it ''was'' now. I don't think they closed the project because of non-profit, its more about some pressure from other directions that facilitated this. Sounds very similar to what happened to SplitGate... But of course twonks will celebrate these news with another overpriced battlepass and Niki Minaj skin. Funny how world works...
I genuinely hope this is just the beginning but im big time coping lol. Your ending speech was very moving btw.
Thanks… 😎
Was high on this game season 1, and for whatever reason just before the release of season 2 I stopped playing and never came back, played a game a couple days ago and got off as soon as the game ended. Doesnt surprise me at this point. Hopefully we get something simmilair and decent in the future
it was bad, it was always bad, it would still be around if it wasnt
XD wasn't bad. XD had similar but less issues as a brand new game while CoD is a 20+ year old game and has worse and more issues😂. Plus the majority of the community hates SBMM and EOMM but Activision doesn't wanna loose out on probably a total of $50k because of little Timmies with their mom's credit cards.😂
XD wasn't bad it's was just painfully mediocre which in some cases worse than being bad. I've read more "shit I didn't even know this game launched" or "huh never knew this existed" when talking about the termination speaks volumes towards its demise. I played it enjoyed it for about a week and got bored like most did.
Homie's delusional. There's no way folks really thought this game wasn't getting shutdown. I got some snake oil, mud lands and some afterlife insurance I can sell y'all

Last week I had been seeing new players in my games a lot
What if I won the lotto and I buy the game?
You'd basically be FPS jesus
I can't be as optimistic as BritTruth here.
There are way too many great game ideas that are just dead. Ideas that held up when they came out 20+ years ago, and would still hold up today - but for some reason or another unrelated to gameplay, they failed or were simply only a little profitable. In this industry, success and quality are two completely separate concepts that do not affect each other at all. XDefiant is now just another game in a decades long history that didn't make profit, so everyone who is incapable of critical thinking now believes everything about it was bad and they will not be copying any of it.
Changes can be made, it's up to the gamers to push for it... 😎
Sign the petition. Nyte fall started it . There are over 2500 signatures
This could be a marketing PR to get more players in the game cause this works for sure.. but we will see..Its hard to believe when they have far worse games doing way worse but they last forever is it cause this game isn't woke enough why knows
Delta Force just released
@DisStayn same. It was a pretty game. The owners that did this was Ubisoft t what a damn shame. But we have 6 month for sure left with this game
The tinfoil hat is on a bit too snug friend let the brain breathe also if your not a fan of woke BS why support a company that won't hire SWM in the wanted ads. I live by one of the soon to be closed sections legitimately have hiring post claiming will only accept POC or lbgtq resumes we all made the joke to say we were non-binary because how could they prove I wasn't.

Masterpieces fail all the time. Many perfectly outstanding games fail. Spec ops the line, bayonetta, darksiders 2, these game failed. Bayonetta still exists because Nintendo loves the game, but all 3 games are losses. Titan fall series failed despite polished gameplay, but that was due to in house sabotage by releasing the game between cod and battlefield.
