I can't say I have the same great attitude after a crash. I think you need a salute for an admirable attitude we can learn from. Better to have flown and lost than never flown at all I guess :)

Drew Buckley Agreed! I have had some planes I put hours and hours in scale detail and custom painting, then crash to smithereens. I was in such a funk I did not want to talk to anybody for a day or more!

As a United States Air Force veteran that was stationed at Lackland, AFB, I appreciate this video! We had one of these retire at that base. It is also the base where enlisted Air Force recruits are first processed and stationed for a nice little vacation called boot camp. I remember the first time I saw her, it was when we we marching down the parade ground for boot camp graduation. Anyway, just a subscriber sharing some memories. Listen, from what I understand, it took this bird weeks to get back up in the air after one flight, so don’t feel bad if it takes you a few weeks to get a crashed one back up in the air!
At least it had enough power to make it to the crash site.

It's a shame for this plane to be so under power. The shape of it shows a very very fast machine.. ...but the rc version of this is just a very slow....."almost ready to stoll" plane.

I have no patience for a lot of these underpowered airplanes that some companies put on the market. Rule #1 if it’s not flying well on the 1st lap land it & address the problem. An underpowered plane doesn’t get any better the longer you fly it’s completely opposite. Everyone knows who sells that junk . You guys are unedited & honest. Thank you.

You're the man when it comes to rebuilding: I'm sure you can fix it, put some descent EDFs and ESCs in and give it another chance. I had the feeling from the un-boxing this was a doomed bird right from the start. You know the feeling when something just isn't going to go the way you planned. Such a shame but as Captain Blaz said more spare parts means more Franken Plane Projects! (Long live your FPP's).Every cloud has a silver lining. There are only a handful of human beings to ever fly the sr 71 blackbird. I think under 30. But she is one of the most beautiful aircraft in my opinion. Nice work on putting it back together... could be done again... it’s a shame it was such a disappointment. Either way, big salute!

One of my favorite jets when I was a kid. I always wanted a model of one. Hopefully FreeWing or E-Flite will make one. Glue it back together and put some new EDFs in it and get that baby back in the air!

sorry for the crash. the plane looked great. could definitely hear all the power going to one engine and the plane immediately started to make right truns. either the right engine edf stopped or the right esc stopped. almost saved it thoug, nice flying!!!

Capt Robert. So sorry to see your crash. This plane was flying right at the hairy edge of a stall all the time. When you tried to gain altitude it got even worse. I agree with Capt Blaz. Fly-by-night companies build good looking, cheap planes to get your money but do little testing of their inferior products.

I think that Blackbird was doomed from the beginning,the take off showed that there was no power to even climb out properly,then it sat nose up on the point of the stall,you did well to keep it flying as long as it did Captain Robert ,just put this down to experience and avoid Blitzworks or Banana Hobby products at all costs,you have some nice aeroplanes in your hangar now and no need for rubbish like this one,perhaps glue it together as a reminder of this bad experience but at least it is a unique shape.
Yep Banana Hobby Sells alot of Crap and their Customer Service is Crap as well...Beware of Banana Hobby Period...
I think Motion RC is the way forward now in Europe especially as Hobbyking after service and quality is not improving either,my next model will be Motion RC if we are spending good money then we expect good service and from what we have seen here the brothers are getting it from them,the latest Me.262 is a good example..

You’re right 300€ for one frustation flight is crazy. It has to fly great with enough power but it didn’t. And you are a good pilot.

I had the same scary flight with my first SR71. Exactly the same damages and underpowering. Than I have got SR kit without an equipment and I used 5200kv 4s motors for EDF turbine. And it was a success. The plane started to fly very nice and was fast. I was launching him manualy. Anyway. This first one was repaired and flying well :-). But, this is not a plane for begginers and stock powering is a piece of shit..........A retract is also very soft and is breaking at landing. Just glue it, change motors and fly again! Good job Captain :-)

I have watched Robert's video. My name is Pete and please keep in mind, I am a RC enthusiast just like many of you. At the end of the day, outside of the office, I am a hobbyist first and foremost. At times, it gets pretty deflating to read bashing and trash talk. Then again, when this industry is my job and my passion, I take all the comments and try to respond where I can and try to make some type of difference. Now on to Robert's video. Also his unboxing video. There are many questions and areas to be asked here. First, unless I didn't hear correctly, there was not any mention that this SR-71 was purchased from Banana Hobby. Second, being Banana Hobby is located in Southern California, and if this SR-71 was purchased from BH, it traveled across the globe to where Robert calls home in Slovenia. We all know shipping couriers are not our best friends. Packages are not handled with care 90% of the time. Especially overseas shipping transits. We did a search here at Banana Hobby and could not locate any orders using the name Robert Petrincic. Sky Flight Hobby/LX Models are sold not only from BH. They are sold over seas direct from China, and from a few other vendors on the internet. Just because the box reads BlitzRCworks does not solidify that the model was purchased and shipped from Banana Hobby. We have looked through all the emails and at no time, did Robert contact us using any of our 4 ways to speak with us. No emails, no live chat sessions, no text and no call records. IF if fact he did purchase this SR-71 from us, the moment he discovered the damages upon unboxing the aircraft, he should have contacted us for a resolution. We did not ship the aircraft with the damages. Our products from our location here are opened and even repacked better and stronger for shipping transits. Of course, we can not control the shipping process and if the shipping courier decides they are going to do have a heard of wild horses run across the boxes. At this point, this SR-71 may have been purchased from another vendor. We do our best here to on site QC our products prior to shipping. We also receive the best of a production product and only accept the top of the tier from the factory. Next would be after his assembly leading into the maiden flight. What lipo and size was Robert using. If he was using the correct battery, is the battery damaged and or tired with a bad cell.Here is where we have a valuable question to ask. With the amount of experience Robert has and the countless EDF models he has flown, why was the maiden flight rushed? Due to the spectators walking down the street towards him? As soon as Robert increased the throttle, with Robert's experience, immediately he should have heard and can hear the EDF tones are not reaching optimal level. Literally as soon as the throttle was increased to full, the take off should have been aborted. Why force that flight? Also you can hear the 2 EDF units were not synced well. This could have been in his radio settings and also, were the ESC's calibrated together prior to his flight on his particular transmitter. Either way, I am sure most all of you that watched this video can audibly tell the aircraft does not sound like there was enough power. Due to the Delta wing layout, the aircraft does take to the sky and in alpha angle. As seen in Robert's flight he had multiple opportunities where he cold have just set the aircraft down on that soft green pasture. It just seems he was already set in his mind that he hated this aircraft purchase and really did not care. There was no reason to push the aircraft to fly and stay airborne. Next is the layer he sprayed on his SR-71. The entire performance of these small EDF models will stem back to weight. The lighter the better. With the level of Robert's experience, the flight should have been aborted. Upon arriving with shipping damages, don't build the aircraft and contact the vendor.
In any event, we wanted to post so people can see and read, we do care and we are active in this RC community. We can not please everyone and will continue to assist when assistance is asked from us. If there are questions, please ask. There are no such thing as dumb questions. We are here because we love this hobby. Am I personally going to be a millionaire from this RC industry, the answer is no. I am in this because this hobby has brought to me so much joy and is shared to me by my dad who is a retired Air Force pilot and commercial pilot. I wanted my involvement with RUclips to share this amazing hobby with as many of you who care to watch and go out, enjoy the blue skies and fresh air. Get the kids off the computer, Minecraft, Fortnite, go outdoors, kick some dirt and fly RC. I'm still a guy with a love for this hobby.

Another very entertaining video Mr. Petrincic!!! Just wanted to mention for future builds that are NOT doomed from the factory, the "screaming servo" issue can be remedied by plugging a capacitor directly into any spare port in your receiver. I wouldn't be surprised If you were already are aware but it was news to me recently so figured it couldn't hurt to mention.

Keeping disaster light hearted is what everyone enjoys about you. I need to work on that. Be grateful you can fly. We just got ANOTHER dumping of snow in Kansas City. The bright side....my real flight 8 simulator arrived yesterday so I'm working on slow flight and tight turns in the Eflite apprentice. The simulator software is outstanding. I didn't even need to use a video card for it to work perfectly. Thanks for the fun. Curious about the sheet metal templates you have hanging in your workshop.

Ouch. My thought was that it looked a bit tail heavy possibly. Only way to fly a shape like that is full throttle. Glue it and put larger esc. That should fix it.
Its really hard to say my friend. I was trying to get it up all the time and is why maybe it looks tail heavy.
Captain Robert. I believe it is fixable. I have the same plane and it flies pretty well (very fast). Mine is running the stock power system but I removed the landing gear and inlet cones. I also made the elevons a little bigger. It's a little awkward to hand launch but it flies okay and keeps the blood pumping.

At last, you've discovered one disadvantage of electric EDF (compared to a gas turbine): you have to manually add fire and smoke after a crash!
So, just like life - "sexy looks" are often spoilt by "flaky performance" (so I am told, LOL).
I vote "glue it and hang it"... or paint it yellow and put it in a fruit bowl - it flew like a banana.

So in the middle of the flight when you could hear the engine(s) spin up is when you lost one of your edf's? Just too bad, because it is such a cool looking plane. Good for you to still post this video, showing folks that your channel is a real channel where real flyers have real experiences. Big Salute to the both of you!
i dont think there is anything wrong with the airframe really. it just was under-powered to the point it was unstable in the air. with strong working electronics it would probably fly really good.

Banana Hobby stuff is JUNK! I am assembling my sixth of their large folding wing Corsairs and all of them have been an exercise in frustration often missing parts, or already broken when I took it out of the box. I told several people that I was would build the next one with my eyes closed because every time Iook at one of those models it breaks. But even with the poor quality you could have flown this airplane with proper technique. You need to build speed before you can climb. To build that speed you need to take off and climb at a very shallow angle and get the gear up quickly so that drag is eliminated. When you start to climb and the model slows way down put the nose down and let the model gain some speed before trying to climb. When you left the nose up in an attempt to climb you created lots of drag and slowed the model down to the point where it stalled. Under powered EDFs are very difficult to fly well!

Great piloting skill...can't believe you were able to keep it airborne for as long as you did. Under-powered, and looked a little tail heavy. Like an old German auto mechanic used to say about my 1968 Ford Mustang..."lots of lipstick but no girdle".

I recommend doing an autopsy. Take the electronics out and test those edf units. Not your fault Robert, that plane was under powered from the beginning. It did make a weird high pitch sound right before the crash which I thought was strange. However tragic you guys make it fun and still have a great attitude for the hobby. I salute you
