"A white man who challenged a black family’s use of a private community’s pool has not only resigned from the homeowners association board - he’s lost his job.
Sonoco announced Friday that Adam Bloom is no longer employed by the packaging and industrial products company, saying it doesn’t condone discrimination of any kind, even if it happens outside its workplace.
A video posted on the Facebook page of Jasmine Edwards on July 4, seen more than 4 million times, shows what happened after Bloom questioned whether she was allowed to be at the pool in Winston-Salem. He also called police."

People who call police for no reason, should be arrested for wasting the cops time.
Wasting the cops time, tax payers' money and stealing resources from people that have true emergencies. I agree. The callers should have to pay a fine in these situations.

They won't. This is America.
That exists in certain situations. For example, if one is hiking or engaging in recreation/hunting in national parks/forests, and the US Parks Service or other agencies (federal and state) have to go in and rescue one's greenhorn arse from a situation one should have had enough sense to avoid (like getting lost, sinking one's car in a lake, etc.), the offender/victim is charged for the costs of the rescue.

I have never heard an Irishman called an Irish American, an English American a French American, and so on. So, to call them an African American when they were born in America just doesn't fit. Wow this happed to me and a friend when we went to our pool and the lady ask for id and my friend was about to hand her his id and I slapped his hand down and needless to say she went on about her business because I wasn’t having it and my family were one of the first to move into the neighborhood while it was still being built 🙄
This kinda of thing happens to my wife all the time (not a pool). She's Mexican and I'm white, when she shops with me, no problem. She's not followed or questioned. When she's alone, she gets followed around the store and treated like a criminal, it's disgusting.

Last summer, my then girlfriend & I went to my neighborhood pool. We're black & the homes in this neighborhood cost between 280k - 600k, so I guess this (white) woman though we were out of place when she felt the need to walk up to us & repeatedly ask how we got into the pool area & where we lived. We tried to ignore her, but she kept harassing us, so I started recording & flashed her the neighborhood keycard. Once she realized we belonged there & my girl started to ask why she was questioning us & nobody else, her whole vibe changed. It was terrible, so think of all the other times this happens in every single city, suburb, & neighborhood without being reported or uploaded to the internet. Damn shame.

Charge them with first degree murder because know damn well that calling the cops could very easily escalate a situation, therefore that is what they wanted to happen!!
R Smith Most of the time these people are looking for some sort of confrontation to justify police force. So the best way to deal with them is to act super friendly, answer all their questions, then flip it back on them and start asking them the same questions about themselves. Once they see your not bothered by them and that you also want to know their personal information, they'll get super uncomfortable and leave you alone because their intention is never to make friends, it's always to alienate.
Some of these people need to get convicted of racial harassment and do time. Some people are too stupid and ignorant that that's the only thing that'll wake them up.

I totally agree with you 100% however this particular pool is like a condo community pool and is a private pool for condo residents and their guests only, which means that each residents is probably paying almost a thousand dollars or more in condominium fees in order to have things like pools and gardeners, so as someone who works very hard for her money I would not want a bunch of people there who don’t live there and should not be there. That being said I would expect whoever that guy was to know who the residents are. I used to actually live in a condo community with a pool and we had a head groundskeeper lady who had an office right next to the pool hall and she made a point of knowing the residents. But yeah if you need a key to get in, why call the police?

People should face a fine when they call the cops on people for racist reasons. You know the only times in my life I’ve ever called the cops was when there was an actual EMERGENCY.
Examples like when I saw a car catch on fire at an accident, and when a tree fell on my house, in my room while I was sleeping. Actual emergencies. These prejudiced people call the cops because a person of color was there, no one should be allowed to use the cops as an intimidation tactic. But sadly it happens...It’s just so disgusting.
They might of been experiencing a lot of trespassers causing trouble and breaking in to use the pool there and it's possible that the guy didn't recognize them as residents(well of course he didn't that's why he was asking for proof).. I just think this is dumb cuz it happened to me twice at two different apartment complexes and didn't think twice about it due to the fact that the person watching out over the pool didn't know me.

I was racially profiled in an almost exact situation in hallandale @ 8 years ago: for being a white American.
I swimmed at night as excercise in a community pool at my condominium complex. But the pool area (& barbeques) closed at 10pm. One day, a condo owner had a pool party with 30 to 50 attendees, so I continued to swim after 10pm because many people were still in the area. So they called their board member, who was also a hallandale police officer, to eject me. The police officer called me over & asked me if I knew the pool area has been closed for 20 minutes. I said yes. So he asked me why I'm still swimming? & if i understood I'm creating safety & noise issues? I asked 'Are you kidding? look around us. There's well over 20 people eating barbeque & at least 8 kids running around. Why should i go because they want a private party? It's arbitrary to say I should go & they can stay. If you're saying noise, I'm quitely swimming & they are talking is much louder than all noise I'm making & the little kids are screaming. If you say safety look at the running kids in the dark & all the barbeque fires & cutting knives & glass cups? & look around at the misuse of our equipment & damage being done by inappropriate playing to the fenses, to the plants, to the barbeque's themselves. This is all happening in front of your eyes. I live here, they do not. So how am I not entitled to stay but they are?? This is another arbitrary rule, why am I responsible to follow arbitrary rules?"
The officer turn to them & started screaming:
'Exit this area Now; shut these barbeques now, stop running. Put shoes on in this area, etc, ect'. I watched as he ejected them. The kids got a little scared because the adults were initially not responding (& not ending their party). They were outright shocked that he 'turned on' them; they couldn't understand why I couldn't be ejected so they can have a private party after hours because 'rules are made to be broken'. I'm not kidding.
The officer apologized to me & as he was trying to hint for me to leave I told him 'don't worry about it, I'll go'. He was clearly very worried so I told him ' relax, no I'm not going to sue & no, I'm not going to file a complaint, but some people here have been trying to demand I strictly follow rules that they are not following themselves. This is simply the most recent example. Last week I had people enter my condo claiming they're the friend of the owner. Well they're not my friend nor my uncle's friend. And that isn't the only time they tried to break into my place.
1 person called the cops showing water on their veranda saying my unit was leaking. She knew quite well I watered my veranda plants at that time. So when the police & fire Department arrived: i told them, on the phone, only you 2 officers can enter my unit. And when i gave them my code, the other people tried to enter right after the police officer went in. I arrived as the police officer & fire fighter were trying to explain that the rest of the crowd that they had no right to enter & that they're interfearing with a police matter. A month earlier, 2 people were actually trying to break my door down & my neighbor, a ICE agent, came out to see what was going on. They tried to act threatening to him to stop violating their right to enter my unit. I'm not kidding these people almost got themselves arrested. People in co-ops get cooky ideas about their rights; & get slammed down back to reality. It happens with all races & usually revolves around racism itself. All of us have prejudices & have to learn to face them & to discard them. Those who believe they don't have prejudices to discard are usually more deluded than Trump himself. Living in denial is not just for Egyptians on the river. & hey, i got much worse examples than these of entitled people acting insane because they have condo powers. We had a police officer telling a condo president that he couldn't pick up a 8 year old & remove her from the unit. The President called the police because the father threatened violence when he saw him picking up his sleeping 8 year old off the couch. It's amazing how a small amount of power can severely corrupt some people in oh so many ways.
I want to know what the hey kind of sprinkler the dude is trying to unscrew....and why bring that to a pool unless he is watering the lawn??

Racism needs to stop. You are correct this has been going on forever. Years ago back in the 80's I worked at a children's retail clothing store. My manager asked me to follow 2 woman of color around the store as she was sure they were going to shop lift. Meanwhile they were shopping the clearance rack. The items price ranged from .50 - $3.00. I looked at my manager and told her if they were going to shop lift they probably would not be at the clearance rack. Secondly just because they are of color does not mean they are going to shop lift. People of all races shop lift. You have not asked me to follow 1 white person. I walked away from my manager. I walked up to the 2 woman. Explained what my manager asked me to do. Gave the woman my phone number and main office number. I told them to report it to the companies main office and I was going to do the same. I then walked up to my boss and told her I no longer can work for you as I have no respect for you. I then told her I quit as I can not work for a racist like her. I punched out and left. I reported what happened to main office. She lost her job. They hired me back as assistant manger and the assistant was promoted to manager. Racism need to stop people. We are all humans. We are all created equal in God's eye. And we all bleed red.
