Well they certainly had the time to make huge changes. The last major games were Lego DC super villains in 2018 and if you want to count it The Lego movie 2 video game in 2019. So it has been quite a while.
Also not being afraid to delay the game, as much as we're all dissapointed it's not out yet, I'd rather wait for this to the lego game we're replaying in 15 years time for nostalgia, just like the complete saga.

Polygon put out an article after speaking to a lot of the developers. Seems it wasn't care, attention, passion - but crunch, bullying, and more crunch. It's taken this long because it was developed on a half finished engine. I'm wary, that's for sure.

You know what's even more insane? Those oversized Lego bricks are built out of millions of smaller bricks and you can board ships like that and run around inside them.
not crazy about the HUD but the gameplay looks really nice, heaps of re-playability i'm noticing. love that there's multiple landing zones per planet and some player choice for interactivity.

This looks like the best open world Lego game since Undercover for Wii U. They’ve taken everything from all their past games and mixed and improved it to an insane degree. Definite buy for me!

now i’ll admit, this is a huge step up from traditional lego games and might take time to get used to, but once we become accustomed to it this will probably be one of the best games
The only thing left that worries me is that the mumble mode lasts as long as the actual sentence it's covering, that would make for really long scenes in some cases instead of quick interactions.
Aside from that, literally everything looks awesome!

This looks like the best open world Lego game since Undercover for Wii U. They’ve taken everything from all their past games and mixed and improved it to an insane degree. Definite buy for me!

I'm guessing probably around 60 hours due to the sheer amount of planets you can explore and find things in. Plus, there's over 950 Kyber Bricks to find.

seeing a lego game with an over-the-shoulder third-person view is so weird but kind of awesome, really looks like it immerses you more into the game and thats awesome, also the space combat looks like a blast!
Getting really excited about the dogfights and the new combat mechanics. The first Lego Star Wars is one of my favorite games, and these changes are really welcomed.
