The whole marketing for this film is just tricking the audience into thinking that Godzilla and Kong will screw at the end of the film!

"You don't go into a monster movie with expectations of watching characters. You go into a monster movie with expectations to see monsters." Skar King was never supposed to be this big muscular kailu, its why he was controlling Shimo. Shimo was the muscle. Skar King was supposed to be portrayed as a tyrannical leader.
Skar king was beaten up by literally everybody, being in the position of a leader doesn’t automatically make you strong or intimidating. And it makes no sense for him to be a leader in the first place in this context since the strongest ones are the kings, yet he gets his ass beaten all the time and could easily been killed earlier in the movie. They built so much hype for him in the trailers and he was massively disappointing. Shimu also got very little screen time, and didn’t feel intimidating either.
I loved the movie
The movie experience was awesome
I think if the monsterverse focused on the destruction and humans collapsing within it having to rebuild time and time again putting more weight on humans coexisting with these creatures we would have a better series of films at hand. Sorta like avengers age of ultron where hulk is causing mass destruction and the focus is on humans looking for an escape at every turn.
I don't mind movies being dumb and fun, but you know what would be even better? Get rid of EVERY human character then... If you're gonna make a movie about the monsters, make it just about the monsters, no dialogue, just grunting, going places and eventually fighting. Make it 1h30 to cut the budget and you've got the PERFECT blockbuster. Trim the fat and give people what they really want
Im not a huge monster movie fan but the more I hear, the more I think that I should watch Godzilla Minus One and just walk away.
Yeah that’s probably for the best. But I do recommend pacific rim (the first movie), Kong:skull island, and Godzilla (2014).

Ain't no way he said the Monsterverse films are bad, they're some of the most fun movies I've ever watched
dont listen to him guys, the movie is amazing. the critics are saying it lacks character storyline that engages audience because they dont concider the monsters as characters, because the heart of the movie is indeed the story of kong in search for family, and jia and ilene's mother and daughter relationship. yes there was not enough focus on that relationship, but they did provided humanity to the story,. this is one of those very rare times where critics are wrong. they are very wrong with this one. and it actually got an average cinemascore of A-. and its on its way to an 80 million 4 day box office opening, domestic. clearly people are enjoying it, it aint like madame web you know. my advice, give it a try. just strap in and enjoy. because hollywood would be boring if everything you see are only films like oppenheimer. we need these kinds of good, fun time movies once in awhile. so pls guys, go watch it. the movie doing great in box office doesnt mean people have low standards in movies, it only means that people are open minded and likes to just relax and have fun.
The first Pacific rim is the perfect example of a movie being fun and actually good. The funny thing is that the second one was literally criticized to hell because of how unrealistic and goofy the fights were and how bad the story was. And I agree that the second one wasn’t nearly as good as the first one, but I would much rather watch the second pacific rim then Godzilla x Kong. If the second pacific rim came out today people would be like “It’s a movie about giant robots fighting giant monsters, don’t criticize it, it’s supposed to be dumb.” But anyway, the first pacific rim will always be that prestige example of good fights with the big scale, good story and good characters.

I respect your take. It's subjective and your own opinion as i heavily disagree with you on a lot of things but not everything. I'm glad you mentioned some of those things tho. To each their own. Cheers mate 🍻

You do understand there has been 4 different directors for these movie . 2 out of the 5 movies have been directed by the same director. They do know what they want it to be . It's a love letter to the Showa Era . The Showa era was ridiculous and this is what we got . Adam was a fan of the 80s . Adam and everyone is well aware the characters are gonna not be great
i never had problem with human characters in any monsterverse movie - all of them especially russel family and samuel jackson were best

People shouldn’t compare this to Godzilla minus 1 totally 2 different studios Toho from Japan and legendary American studio I heard alot of mixed reviews but also heard a lot of Monsters fights and Kong the main character and MVP in the movie but Skar king underwhelming but still gonna check it out my favorite Godzilla movie is Godzilla 2014 cuz of the great storytelling and Skull Island
I just saw it. Godzilla, Kong, & Mothra are great with actually exciting fights. The human parts are unbearable this time. It's not as good as Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island, or Godzilla vs Kong, but it's about as fun as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Godzilla x Kong is very fun, but exhausting with too many unfunny pointless human scenes and scattered cutting between the different kaiju.
The plot is all over the place like the old 60's Godzilla movies. Godzilla & Kong just do Dark Souls side quests until they fight a red monkey slaver overlord. Godzilla powers up with nuclear radiation, Kong gets a power glove and little Kong sidekick.
I feel like it's not surprising people hate The Human characters, even when there Good like GVK and I'm sure the characters in GXK will be fun to watch and why are people saying there's not enough monster scenes in GVK, it had the most kaiju scenes out of any kaiju movie until GXK came out which has apparently about an hour Of Kaiju scenes, which is insane it's not even a human story it's about Kong and the films 1 hr 55 min. So yeah I juz think these movies were alway about Kong, it's progressing his character so just The Kong movies are pretty consistent tonally Godzilla's solo films are dark because, IT'S GODZILLA! These last 2 movies aren't just Godzilla movies right now, there stories about Kong, so of coarse it's going to have that fun and wacky tone,also Godzilla fighting those other monsters is awesome because it's payoff from the set up of the other films shows and comics, with the Godzilla vs. Sylla feud that was so satisfying because they built it up! and even if it's a short fight it makes sense why, Godzilla was just so tired of this piece of ace, that he's done playing, he gave him chances to stop but it didn't listen, so Godzilla goes ham, so awesome, and Tiamat being in the film, again is satisfying because it was named in King of The Monsters and set up in the other projects, so yeah the other kaiju's do have purpose juz hearing from other people. There big characters in the Monsterverse. Also they can go back to the dark tone, it literally juz happened with Monarch, they went back to that serious tone, I'm sure they can do it again with a different project Godzilla can be both and THE MONSTERVERSE CAN BE BOTH.

This was pretty good. I liked the world building and the production design/VFX. I like the mythology and the hollow earth story more than the monsters fighting each other. I hope this series continues with this cast of characters
Yet another newb "critic" that doesn't get the appeal of Godzilla, needing good human content over fun. No wonder you enjoyed that 2014 turd even Garreth Edwards doesn't like lol The Monsterverse is just now finding its leggs my guy. My advice? Keep that day job & hold onto it for dear life.
