"Never Been To Spain", "Just An Old Fashioned Love Song", and "Shambala" are all bangers from 3 Dog Night.
Three Dog Night is so underrated as a group their harmonies are excellent thank you for reacting love your Channel
I beg to differ they were very successful. Had 3 great singers sharing lead, sold millions of records 21 hit songs. You may b referring their not in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
Their not sam's goes for Tommy James and the Shondells it's travesty. Tho the Gogo s got in this yr, what a joke!
@@Mark-iv7np never even been nominated for the Rock Hall of Fame. Not even nominated!!
Three Dog Night and The Grass Roots both had a lot of hits and were successful, but neither are mentioned when talking about great bands of the 70's.
@@clayboutin400 The Guess Who is a really great band, and also have never even been nominated. Never even nominated!
And Grand Funk Railroad. All should be in.
This song was written by the legendary Randy Newman of "I Love L.A." and winning music oscars fame.
I didn't know that but I'm not surprised!!! Lol....She should react to some of Randy Newman's stuff!!!
totally forgot that..Good call!
Cory Welles was a great singer. What made this band unique and great was 3 great lead singers sharing duties. Many great songs
Joy to the World, Easy to be Hard, Elis Coming Shambala and more. Very successful from late 60s into early 70s Cory did a terrific cover of Otis Reddings Try a little Tenderness, phenomenal!
I can not believe that they are NOT in the in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame! They had many radio hits ! I have 5 of their LP albums and they are all great! Peace and Love your reactions, Dear.
Agree.
Three Dog Night was a great band with a lot of hits. My favorite is "Black and White".
Angela, I love your hair styled that way.
The name comes from an Eskimo term for how many dogs you need to sleep with on a cold night to keep you warm. The colder it is the more dogs you need.
He attended a drug -fuelied party and wasn’t ready for it lol “Do you want sugar in your water , whiskey in your tea”?
Code for pills. Other songs - Eli’s Coming, Old Fashioned Love Song, Joy To The World ,Shambala ( 1975 live concert).
“That ain’t the way to have fun..”
During that period I saw Three Dog Night 3 times. They were the greatest cover band of all time, and every concert was a joy. Try them doing "Eli's Coming", "One", my favorite "Shambala", and "Easy To Be Hard". All covers, all big hits, all great interpretations.
Also, Black and White, Never Been To Spain and One
They have LOTS of great songs...this being my favorite!! Try Shambala, Black and White
They do a killer cover of the Otis Redding song "try a little tenderness" you would dig it ✌️
Oh, yesss!
Yes then the cover by Irish group the commitments. Amazing cover.
@@shanenolan8252 Absolutely. Just found their performance of that song on the Letterman show. I REALLY liked the version from the movie, though. I have to watch that movie again every so often. A lot of fun.
@@barryanderson3910 cool Barry, its been awhile since i watched the movie myself. Enjoy your rewatch. Oh yes the movie version hits differently. Its the climax of the story . And there is a build up to that moment.
Being a teenager in the seventies we had some great music.
The second part of that lyric is "That ain't no way to have fun, son". Love your reactions!!🙂
Michael Allsup...one of the most under-rated guitarists of the era...truly a great player.
Michael, is this you? Just kidding, yes, he is very good.
Three Dog Night is in my top ten 70's groups. Lots of great songs!
Fun song and group! 70's had great music!
With three lead singers Three Dog Night covered songs from a variety of artists and sounded close to many. They covered LEO Sayers, Randy Neumann and others. Eli's Coming is one of my favorites.
Written by the unique Randy Newman. He wrote some quirky stuff - Short People Got no Reason - I Think It's Goin' To Rain Today - - - - just a couple.
Sail Away!
Country music also has a lot of comedy in songs: (1) Johnny Cash "A Boy Named Sue" live from San Quentin, (2) Charlie Daniel's "Uneasy Rider", (3) Hank Williams "My Bucket"s Got a Hole In It", (4) Jim Stafford "Wildwood Weed", (5) Roger Miller "King of the Road", (6) Jimmie Rodgers "In The Jailhouse Now",....
Love the guitar & keyboard work on this one. TGN were very talented
Thanks for letting the song play through before your comments. Written by Randy Newman, one of New Orleans own.
You can't go wrong with Three Dog Night! I'm middle-aged (64 yrs old) and I'm still listening to all the great music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s!!
Three Dog Night!!! A deep rabbit hole of hits. I didn't see them in concert until about 1988 when they doing fairs were admission was free once you were on the fair grounds. A friend and I took my 5 year daughter. When they played "Out In the Country" (AKA Before the breathing air is gone and the sun is just a bright spot in the night time.) everybody got their lighters out. Now it is the light from cell phones.
When it was cold outside, people would have a dog sleep at the foot of their bed to keep their feet warm. If it was colder, still, they might have 2 dogs, so a 3 Dog Night is a very, very cold night. That's what the band's name relates to.
I also heard that "dog" referenced Drums, Organ, Guitar for this band.
The 70s was just a fun awesome time for great music
They were comedians when they did live shows!!!!! Great group! Thank you for reacting to them!!!!
One of my GOATS in the 70's growing up with this awesome group and having met them in person they signed my "Captured Live at the Fourm" LP individually on their own pics (see the cover) and I saw them in concert so many times I lost count. Loved them and miss them dearly. Thanks for the awesome memories of the decade of my youth! So many hits their funniest yet probably most honest hit songs was "Joy to the World" which rode the #1 Billboard spot for 6-weeks! Cheers!
It's *still* "The Fabulous Forum" in my mind.
Another 70's banger..I was lucky to be a teenager then
I saw all the hair bands back in the day. Three Dog Night concert was one of the best I’d ever been to. (Well them and Deep Purple).
"That ain't the way to have fun, son."
The random things he talked of, was what he saw and/or experienced at this party and he regretted going. "Shoulda listened to mama," as Lenny and the Squigtones sang.
Saw them in concert in the early 70s. Fantastic concert. Still today one of the best concerts I’ve seen.
@Jeanne Jorgensen, Don't remind me, one of the strangest concerts that I've ever been
I LIVED THE 70s class Of 1970 dadrock DJ DALLAS 😎
I was only 6 when this came out, but my oldest sister was 16 and had the 45 record. I feel so lucky she introduced my all the great music at an early age! Great reaction Angela.
Good gravy you're a beautiful woman. The last minute of the song where they sort of go off is the best. I could listen to an hour of just that!
Never Been to Spain
I saw them live in Harrisburg Pa , when I was in high school I think 1969 or 70. Great show.
This band is awesome! So many incredible songs like Joy to the World, One, Eli's Coming, Try A Little Tenderness, etc.. I think this song makes perfect sense...Lol! And that lyric you were not sure of: "That ain't the way to have fun... son..."
Joy to the World, Black & White, Shambala, Old Fashioned Love Song...an underrated band. Always great.
Love this song! Forever!!! My fav group!!! So much fun!!! Listen to”Eli’s Coming”!!! “One is the Loneliest Number”, “Old Fashioned Love Song”, “Shambala” tribute to the Movie: “Road to Shambala” 1970’s…
I also am from that Era with 3 dog night.
Just as I love that song....I love the pretty girl reviewing the song. I'm in love !!! Lolol
My lord this girl is so beautiful!!!
When you are invited to a party, and you later suddenly realise it s a Hells Angels party........BEST TIME EVER!
It was about a 1970 house party, you never knew what you were walking into !
Late 60 s
I played racquetball with Cory Wells, the lead singer, when he was touring and stopped into the Fitness club I was managing in Austin at the time.
"That ain't the way to have fun.. son !!"
Waaaay up north a three dog night is a really cold night because it takes three dogs to keep you warm!
Thanks girl you listening to the music of my childhood.
Saw them in concert! Awesome!
MAMA KNOWS!!
Now dive on into the rabbitt hole with "One", "Just An Old Fashioned Love Song", Joy ToThe World"..............
Just An Old Fashion Love Song
“That ain’t the way to have fun, son.”
Great reaction to a classic song. This is the 2nd time I watched this. Thank you.
Used to sing their song, joy to the world on the church bus.
So much fun! Angie, are you enjoying our childhood music? So much variety huh? Are you used to seeing men with long hair and the fashion. Best decade ever!
Three Dog Night "Eli's Coming" & "Out In The Country"
That ain't the way to have fun Soooooon (Son)
Loving this 70's series, my teenage years, so many memories, glad you are also experiencing them.
1 of my favorite song of my childhood! Still love it today.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍
The lyrics were mama told me not to come that ain't no way to have fun. He's talking about going to a party and at one point seeing his girlfriend passed out on the floor and seeing things he hadn't ever seen before.
Supergroup. So much talent and great guys. They were at the top but like so many, the excesses of stardom got them off track. The seventies for you (drugs). A lot of joy along the way beginning with "One" in early '69.
A fun 70s song for the time.
I was 10 years old when this song was out 🥸🥸🥸
That is most certainly the way to have fun, son.
The name "Three Dog Night" come from the people of the far nortih. On cold nights they wouild sleep with one of the sled dogs. A very cold night required two dogs and an extremely cold night took three dogs to stay warm.
They were great and Cory Wells singing this one passed away rip
You have such an energetic, beautiful spirit! Cute as hell too!!! Love your smile! Love the song! Thanks for the video.
They always looked like they were having fun. My favorite song of theirs is Joy to the World. Excellent band.
I’m glad you’re critiquing this song the bass player was like a brother to me a mentor I miss you Joe rest in peace
This song is so groovy and I always love listening to this on the radio but having seen it on video it takes it to a whole new level. They are cool on stage.
Great reaction!!! Great song!!!
Thee Dog Night did a really beautiful cover of a Jesse Colin Young song "Sunlight"
stupendeously awesome band
Wow, haven't heard this in decades. Good choice.
They killed this cover of a Randy Newman song. Well, he didn't have the voice or the backup musicians. They also did a cover of Newman's buddy Harry Nilsson for 'One'. 'Joy to the World', with it's unique vocal intro, was all over the radio when I was a senior in high school. In fact, you couldn't get away from it. They brought much Joy to the world. I miss happy music -- kvetch kvetch.
Saw them live back in the day.every song a hit.awesome concert. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Good reaction. ❤Love your hair. Beautiful..
their best song!!!
Its about a kid going to his first party as a teen. He saw things that his mama warned him against. Drugs sex and rock and roll. " Mama told me not to come. That ain't the way to have fun."
One of my favorite all time songs. I like heavy metal and classic rock. This song and music is so great. I love it! 💖
I really dig your channel! New sub, thanks for the memories friend.
One of the two best songs from 1970. The other was Mississippi Queen by Mountain.
Angela, without doubt you have coolest reactions and also the heartfelt reactions by far!!😉😍
On a similar theme - feeling uncomfortable at a party where everyone's stoned - is "Stuck in the Middle With You" by Stealers Wheel
Saw the original group 3 times back in 1969 & 70. Chucks voice was spectalcular and their three-part harmonies can't be beat.
Me too
“Mama told me not to come,
That ain’t the way to have fun, son”
"That ain't the way to have fun"
This band was one of my favorites, their music was so diverse. They did funky songs like this one, try “Eli’s coming “, “Never Been to Spain” (a favorite), “Out in the Country” , their music really never sounds the same but it’s sooooo good.
Momma Told Me 🎶 not to come! 🎶 She Saaaid, that Ain't the Way to have Fun! SON! 🎶😘 Love Your ADORABLE Reaction!
A great 70s group (saw 'em in person, yes!) singing a unique and memorable classic !!!!
Gotta do as people have suggested "Black & White" so relevant even today. The many others here suggested are good as well. I think you might also enjoy some Blood, Sweat & Tears.
"joy to the world " !! 'never been to spain" !! lotta good songs
Mama told me not to come..that ain't the way to have fun.
Song is about attending a party that is a bit too wild. It was written by the great singer/songwriter Randy Newman. Other great Newman songs include: I love LA, Short People, It's a Jungle Out There (theme to TV show Monk), Monsters, Inc,
The poor last note! It never got a chance. Nice Hair! One of the best sheens I've ever seen. How many coconuts had to give their lives to cover all that area?
"Mama told me not to come,
Mama told me not to come,
That ain't the way to have fun, son
That ain't the way to have fun."
Mama told me not to come, that ain't the way to have fun, son
The line "whiskey in your water, sugar in your tea" was referring to boose. and drugs especially LSD.
back in the day it was an Anti Drug Song, the line is momma told me not to come, that ain't the way to have fun son. Miss Angela you like love songs listen to 3 dog nights Pieces of April (the song i did my 1st slow dance to in 1972 or 73
I enjoy watching Angela's reactions. I may be old, but I do like watching young people's surprise when they realize we had excellent music (in my opinion most better than what is passed off on people nowadays and without any digital enhancement.)
"Black & White" sends a message we all desperately need these days.
