I saw the movie on Sunday and loved it - such a great tribute. I think my favorite scene was the one with Jack Black when Dio recorded the bit for his movie and they kept going through all those fancy mics that couldn't handle the power of Dio's voice. 🙂
Great documentary film about Ronnie and his life . I never knew he started before the Beatles.. Ronnie was my favorite vocalist of all time. God bless Ronnie 🤘
I was struck by the visual of Ronnie playing in front of thousands of fans - selling out arenas in the 80's. Then after grunge and alternative, the shot of him playing in a club with a TINY stage with Tracy G and Jeff Pilson. He was still singing his butt off - always a professional. That passion and professionalism paid off when he came full circle selling out Radio City Music Hall and playing in front of 100K at Wacken 2009 with Tony, Geezer, and Vinny. As a high school coach, that can inspire us to keep coaching our kids with the same commitment and drive during the down seasons, so that we can appreciate the great seasons.
Great to see father and son discuss Dio! I've been a Die Hard Dio fan for 37 years! I saw the Doc here in Miami and I Loved it and can't wait to see it again! In Dio We Rock🤘. Oh, and that Dio vintage t-shirt is kool azfuk.
I went to see this last Wednesday I thought it was great man ran into other metal heads at the show where DO shirts great time made made a bunch of friends I knew a lot of the information in the show but there was a lot of information I didn’t know either it was absolutely great watch
i was there at the dio concert in 1985 when i just turned 16 yes it was the sacred heart tour and what did see but crystal ball and a draw bridge in a castle with a dragon and this fan high on something was doing cart wheels on the stairs and some fights broke out in the crowd and everyone sat down when dio took the stage so everyone could see the show today you go to a concert every one stands so all you can see is everyone's ass man i miss the 1980s concerts
I hated the 80's. Why? Because I actually lived through it. You have to remember the bad and not just the good, or you are not being honest. I hated that period where the "Glam Rock" took over. It seemed like a step backwards, Bowie and The NY Dolls already did all that. I was fortunate to be introduced to Dio by a group of friends who knew of him through Rainbow and Sabbath. That was the best way to be introduced to him. My group of friends played more Elf than anything newer that Dio was doing. But we loved Dio! I saw him several times during that time period and every show was memorable. He never let the fashion destroy his passion for the kind of music that he wanted to play. That was the stuff me and my friends wanted to hear. Priest and even Maiden were going down that "Glam or Hair" road, I hated every bit of it. The ballads with sappy lyrics, total crap! Dio sounded great every time and played the stuff that we wanted to hear. What a voice! He was an original that never forgot where he came from and the fans that supported him!
It’s really cool to hear your experience. I can see the 80s being that way, where people romanticize that time period. It’s cool to hear a real perspective. Jealous you got to see Dio!!!!
Ronnie didn't join rainbow he formed rainbow with Richie Blackmore in 1975 and then created the album Richie blackmore's rainbow. And every elf member is in that album besides the guitars.
Sorry to hear you couldn’t go. I’ve been trying to keep an ear out but I haven’t heard anything regarding a dvd release yet. Even the website still shows theater showtimes and that’s about it.
The movie didn't really do the man justice. To much gloryfication and not enough light shed on his flaws and the downward spiral he was caught up in from the mid to late eighties til about 2000. Ronnie was a great singer and an important icon of the rock and metal scene but if you wanna tell his story to the world you have to be real.
I wasn’t aware of a big downward spiral, although his music and lyrics did change at a certain point. I do have to say I felt that way about Bohemian Rhapsody and the Elvis movie, so I get what you’re saying about keeping it real
@@Halum_Movies It began after Sacred Heart. That album already sold slightly less than The Last In Line which is the most successful Dio album. Dream Evil sold only about a tenth of Sacred Heart. Lock Up The Wolves did so bad that Ronnie dissolved the band to take another shot with Sabbath. But he realized that Toni and Geezer thought they could make more money with an Ozzy reunion so e left before they could fire him. With Angry Machines he hit rock bottom. At that time, no more than 300 to 400 people came to his shows. Things got better in the early 2000s when he returned to a more 80ies style and reincluded fantasy-based themes.
I saw it yesterday, it is fantastic. Though, Eddie Trunk came across to me as disingenuous, nor can he speak more than a sentence or two without saying "me me me".
@@Halum_Movies showtime had a free preview weekend on sling. Over the weekend showtime made available 6 or 8 different movies channels, it came on one of those yesterday afternoon.
Yep it does seem Egypt the chains are on off the last in line begat power slaves from its unfair that gay pride adopted rainbow in the dark when that was the farthest thing he meant in his song
When Dio's music died in my opinion is when he fired Vivian Cambell. Even the band was totally against it because they have gotten to be so tight and had their own sound and style. It's never the same when an original member leaves for the most part. Vivian just clicked with that band.
It looks like the movie is available on Showtime now. Still keeping an ear out for a dvd release.

That was an epic scene. I wish we touched on that part!
DIO.... THE KING OF ROCK -N -ROLL
What a gift to see a father and son share similar passion!!! DIO would have loved that he touched you guys!!
Great documentary film about Ronnie and his life .
I never knew he started before the Beatles..
Ronnie was my favorite vocalist of all time.

Glad you feel the same way man. What a special man 🤘thanks for watching

Can’t wait to watch it again as well 🤘
cool, Dio was one of my vocal mentors growing up...what a voice...
That’s so awesome, completely amazing voice. Thanks for watching
Great job guys. Enjoyed your enthusiasm! Now, who's the Drizzt fan? Wouldn't a full length film be amazing!
That would be both of us!!!!! Cool of you to notice. Both books are also signed by R.A Salvatore!
Best metal documentary ever! It was accurate, perfect, entertaining, and a bit sad at the end. The extras were great. Long Live DIO 🤘
Totally agree! 🤘
Him and Tony were the best together..both Sabbath albums with Dio were the the best!
Brilliant lads. Excellent review
Thank you!
Great review guys, really appreciate it and enjoyed it.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed 🤘
All of Ronnie's albums are works of Art. Magica and Strange Highways are pure Magic. A King is truly Gone.
Agreed, truly an incredible musician and person.
Nice to hear about older bands shaping metal. I can respect the older stuff for sure.
Thanks for watching man. Definitely glad you can appreciate it

Same here, lots of new stuff that was awesome to learn. Glad you had a good time, it was like a metal head reunion for us too 🤘
Nice review! Read his autobiography if you haven't already.
Thank you 🤘 I’ll have to check it out I haven’t read it

Showtime/Paramount plus

Interesting to hear that. The best albums do seem to be with Vivian.
