- In preparation of Batman Arkham Legacy (or whatever that WB Games Montreal project ends up being called) we have been taking a look back at the Batman Arkham series and enjoying different aspects of them. Today we're going to look at the 5 best playable characters in the series other than Batman. No Alfred is not on this list. #batmanarkham #batman #batmanarkhamlegacy

I like how Red Hood could essentially do a long range Beat Down with his guns after throwing a Stun Grenade.
Mac Jameson his takedowns were sick. I would spend so much time in challenges trying to do al the best ones

Red Hood for me, I love his aggressive style. Harley Quinn also, her talking to the enemies is priceless. If only Nightwing was like her!

@@Nothing72342 yeah, I just love her specifically in combat maps. Most predators maps with her I don't enjoy but there are some that are at least good. I find it interesting that she only has loud takedowns, suits her personality perfectly.

My main complaint with red hood and Harley quinn is that they only have the instant takedown and have no other combo meter burn like catwoman, robin and nightwing
I love playing as robin for the predator mode in city because the thugs start by insulting you, joking about "batman's little helper" and the like and then panicking in terrified state with excuses like "i'm sorry i though you were a joke"

Ian Boudreau I think it’s because of how the map is designed because of how huge the map is making it hard for any character not like Batman to go around and the fact that you would need a vehicle for every character
And bike won’t work because the vehicle section are designed for the batmobile in the map and it’s quite big. And with a bike you won’t have all the tools the batmobile does the only way for they’ll characters to play would be to deal with the situation like Arkham City you still have to worry about dlc besides why in the world would you be able to free roam as batgirl in Arkham knights map it’d make no sense same goes for Azriel and Queen
You could do a glitch that let u free roam
@@blubettle1191 there's fifty Batmobiles tho? I'm not trying be a dick I'm just saying... It could have been done. Especially when it was delayed as much as it was. They could have made a few adventures w all the dlc characters. :)
@@blubettle1191 All of the DLC movie Batmobiles can be used in free roam they just don't have the handling nor the weapons that the games regular Bat tank nor it's different paint job versions have. Meaning you could drive them once all the enemy tanks, the bombs, non-racing riddler challenges that required the winch were all done.
Therefore a bike for Nightwing and Robin could work it just wouldn't have the capabilites the Batmobile has.

How do you play as joker
I feel like Red Hoods simplicity is part of the character. He doesn’t have many gadgets because he doesn’t need them. He uses what works. Though from a gameplay perspective he is limited

I just wish he had the batclaw and maybe smoke pellets.
I had a conversation with a friend of how cool it would be to have a piece of batman media where batman or a major character doesn’t have access to the equipment that Batman has, and essentially find a way to do the same job using more conventional gear.
Red Hood is definitley my fav, I love playing as a badass vigalante shooting thugs and snapping there neck. I also use the Arkham knight skin a lot because it looks awesome but the Red Hood design is pretty cool too. What's you'rs?

@Da rock Gaming I love playing Nightwing too but I hate his design in Arkham knight (not a fan of the mask) so I usally use Arkham city or New 52 skin.
The thing about Batgirl's combat is that there's ALOT of leg work. Lots of kicks, swing kicks and what not in terms of takedowns and countering.

Well, one of the shows say that she was a gymnastics student so I just always assumed it's a thing with the character and not unique to the show.
Probably to differentiate her between the others, make her seem more powerful comparatively given the size difference, and probably to allude to a past of gymnastics.

I must say, Deathstroke might be my favorite purely from an aesthetic perspective. And just the fact that it was freaking Deathstroke! Blew my teenage mind. I can't remember if he was very different at all gameplaywise. I remember he had like c4 instead of gel, projectiles from his staff instead of batarangs, and he could rip off grates in one go. Of course fewer gadgets and worse than batman gameplaywise but visually he was awesome. The staff combat looked really good to me, although I wish you could use the sword. Being able to switch between the two and having them act differently would have been a really unique gameplay feature. But seeing him flip into the air and firing a barrage of projectiles in an arc like that is still one of the coolest combat animations in the series for me.
While I did have fun playing as Deathstroke I just could never get over the fact you couldn't use guns with him.
Facts man I don't know how old I was but I'm going to guess like 10 or 11 years old and the game had came out close to my birthday. All I asked for on my birthday that year was the pre-ordered edition so I can play with Deathstroke. And when I finally got to play as him I was blown away.

One big reason for Red Hoods lack of gadgets is that while Batman has to incapacitate criminals with countermeasures to their weapons, the only counter measure Red Hood needs is a 9mm
My favorite has to be Harley Quinn. I loved the way her detective vision looked. And using the bat was pretty cool. I also loved her Mayhem mode.
I love how red hood's lethality is inconsistent. Sometimes you just knock them out and sometimes you snap their neck or shoot them. Something that I like is that you can go into detective mode and see how lethal your attack was.

I was really into the Initiation DLC. I love the additional animations and combat style for Bruce Wayne.

Honestly the boss fight was decent Imo the only upside is that it was actually the first time we ever got to fight the actual Joker with healthbars and not something like Titan Joker.

5.Nightwing- In my top 10 favorite comic book characters so playing as him is a blast for me.
4.Joker- I did not have a playstation when asylum came out so when I finally got to play it, it was amazing because I waited years for it
3.Robin- I love the staff combat and the bullet sheild as well as the zip kick, just all around cool
2.Cat woman- I love that catwoman is very unique. She climbs ceilings and crawls on all fours, it cool that she does everything a bit different than everyone else
1.Batgirl is easily my number one too. Her DLC is my favorite in the series and her combat feels really cool, i cant describe it better than that.
I never really liked playing death stroke, i dont know why, he just felt tacked on to me, like he was there just to say they did it.
Harley feels the same way somewhat, i also dont like how she is kicking nighwings butt in her DLC but batman can always incapacitate her in seconds. Its really inconsistent, since when can she fight? Azereal is just a batman clone so I never play as him. Red hood is fun but I never feel compelled to play him so I must not like him that much

@Da rock Gaming honestly don't know why they didn't give him his guns, when he used them in the boss fight.
I like how Red Hood has pistols that can kill enemies in one hit. I think it’s a little bit overpowered, at least with Jokers gun it only had one shot so you couldn’t just spam it and win without any effort.
Nightwing definitely one of my favorites.

All the characters except Azrael felt unique for the reasons you mentioned.
Batgirl is my favorite non Batman playable character. It would be Red Hood his DLC was so short.
Batgirl's DLC had the most put into it with what you had to do and the time they spent on Batgirl's DLC.
I love the Batgirl part. I wished they made a whole game with her.
Arkham City Nightwing was my favorite other than Batman of course. He had those wrist darts that were so fun to use
NightWing was easily my favorite. Only upsetting thing is they took away his wrist mounted dart gun in Arkham Knight.
Red Hood is my favourite because it's really fun to combine grappling and detective mode with shooting. Usually I'm not a big fan of shooters but I just love how they did it in Arkham Knight. His takedowns are really cool and it's so satisfying to shoot whilst grappling between vantage points and grates.
I'm guessing these weren't considered, but I loved bane and joker in the origins multiplayer. They're so unique and really satisfying when you would get to play them
Red Hood's perfect combination of hand to hand combat and close range gun play never gets old. Those finishing moves were too damn awesome. Pretty much a John Wick on steroids.

The snap flash is so dumb. You have to get close enough to silent takedown a thug, so why not do that instead? Armored thugs are the only use for it.
Catwoman is my all time favourite she’s the reason I started the Arkham games and is so much fun
I love batgirl too but I’d love to get the chance to play as huntress with her crossbow and staff and her brutality
I loved the batgirl dlc just hated the Robin they used wish it was Jason partially because I hate the Tim and Barbara relationship they made

Umm where’s nightwing? Dude was my favorite and best feeling dlc character imo. His gadgets were sick in both city and knight and his animations were god tier. His stun beat down was so clean, reminds of yj and animated nightwing where he’s jus barraging the thugs with quick baton strikes. He deserves his own game and I wish the next game would focus on him after Arkham knight. Prolly not gonna happen tho cuz apparently everyone overlooks him in these games as well as dc just constantly shitting on him
If only Catwoman had a disarm ability and throw counters, she'd be purrfect

Robin and nightwing are my favorite because I like that I'm using new skills in their own way that feels true to the characters and I have something to say about batgirl the reason both batgirl and catwoman are faster and quick is because they don't have as much muscle then batman like yeah he is quick and strong but when you play other characters like robin and nightwing and the girls you move quicker batman is big and you can't move that quick when your that big that's why nightwing is lean and is muscular but in a lean way because he can be able to do move circus skills and he's more flexible and you can't be very quick and flexible with all that muscle on you.
4:55 I would argue that Scarecrow is the main villain of the game.
Tbh I really liked Deathstroke and Red Hood.
Deathstroke: It was cool in predator mode to have a staff and knock out the thugs. It was nice because it felt like a mixture between Robin and Batman
Red Hood: I mean do I really have to explain? Who wouldn’t want to go around shooting thugs and sniping them? The Arkham Knight skin was cool but when I played predator maps I heard Arkham Knight speaking and always thought (your literally giving away information about yourself) funny, but weird.
azrael however was literally a copy and paste batman who wouldn’t speak in maps.
Officer Owens is my favorite character to play as in The Batman Arkham series...it’s a shame he’s only in the first 5 minutes of the last game
My rankings so far are for combat excluding Batman from Arkham Knight,which is the best
1. RED HOOD,the power and brutality in his moves are satisfying as hell. Tip:utilize the pick up downed enemy lead into beatdown move with Red Hood.
2. Robin. The Bullet shield and staff make his combat unique yet satisfying to master
3. Azrael,a much more simplified Batman with less gadgets
4. Nightwing. His mobility,agility,speed and weapons mixed with the strength of Batman
5.Batgirl, a faster more fluid feeling Batman with hard combat
6. Catwoman,her speed is unmatched in all games
7. Harley Quinn,her bat Stun beatdown is so goddamn good to use
8. Deathstroke,didn't use him enough,wish he used his sword.
9. Joker,honestly,if they updated him with new moves and some more gadgets into Arkham Knight,he would be awesome to play as.

I only like playing as knight Catwoman because city Catwoman had horrible climbing. Why would Catwoman time her climbs to get a perfect climb combo? It just felt so slow. They really improved on it in knight.

I like red hood but not so much for the playstyle but more for the feeling because he is my favourite character
My biggest wish for Arkham Legacy (if there is one) is to be able to play as Alfred in the main story. His thing would be beating up thugs with a cane and umbrella and saying "Crazy Ass Ninjas" after every Takedown. Also, I wanna play as Loose Lips and hang Batman up from a roof.
Red Hood was probably my favorite with Deathstroke as a VERY close second. He wasn't that unique but it was just badass to play as Deathstroke.

Batgirl is just too similar to Batman, I like when the character really changes up the playstyle, like nightwing with the escrima sticks and robin with the staff.
Red hood was my favorite to play as, even though he was the hardest character to score high in combat with. His quick silent takedowns are so satisfying.

I really enjoyed playing the Joker maps. Shame he wasn't available on PC. He really stood out because he had limited gadgets and no grappling hook or glide.

Honestly, out of all these characters, i would've put joker in 2, he's way too fun to play as, kinda sad he was an exclusive to PS3 users at the time, but you can play as him on PC with a file.
Tbh, I don’t think that Azrael should count as a person on this list since it’s essentially just a somewhat watered down clone of Batman. Really at that point, it’s just Batman, and since Batman isn’t on the list, I don’t think Azrael should be here.
Given that, my list would probably be:
Catwoman
Red Hood
Robin/Deathstroke (there are differences in gadgets and some attacks, but they are similar enough to be the same here)
Vigilante Bruce
Nightwing
Catwoman is fun as shit in combat, but damn is she annoying to play in Predator sometimes.
Red Hood is probably the most unique in many respective because of the power of his guns, but otherwise I just like the way he moves around and flips.
Robin is slow, but all of his attacks look gorgeous and his Predator is solid so he’d have to be 3.
Vigilante Bruce is overall the fastest in the Series so for someone who can input attacks very quickly, it is beyond incredible.
Nightwing because his attacks are spectacular, his movement is great, his Predator is mixed, and he’s my favorite character throughout the Series to play, and my second favorite character of all time
I didn't like azreal and really could not get into Robin. He was just to slow FOR ME. In comparison I loved playing as nightwing and he is much faster imo. It's kinda of a pattern when my top characters are batman, Catwoman, Nightwing, Batgirl and red hood LOL. 4/5 of them are the fastest characters in the game. So it's just my preference of style
Red Hood is awesome (my fav is the dual pistols) but I like Batgirl the best. She has a yellow theme (my fav colour) and she has cool hacking mechanics.
Wouldn’t say she’s quiccer than batman she’s more agile, tho in the comics the only bat family member who has a physical advantage on batman is nightwing (he’s more agile)

Unpopular opinion. I HATE ROBIN. Not as a character but as a playable one. His gadgets are clunky and I can’t really seem to get his rhythm. Also his combos are useless him not having the rec gun is a big bummer for me. He also doesn’t have disarm and destroy. That’s why I hate him.

I think I realize watching this that you guys like the combat a lot more than stealth, as with the exception of Red Hood and Robin, all these characters suck imo. Asriel and Batgirl's arsenals are just worse versions of Bruce's, and Catwoman's stealth in any map not imported from City was nightmarish. But it doesn't mean you're wrong, just different priorities. My list would be as follows
5. Robin: The bullet proof shield and zip kick aren't much, but they present unique opportunities absent from Batman's arsenal that are pretty fun.
4. Nightwing: While his arsenal of Wingdings and Escrimna sticks is mostly just batarang substitutes, the knockout darts add a fun dimension with the possibility of an instant takedown, but the need for a difficult headshot to accomplish it.
3. Bruce Wayne: The catrops are slightly less useless here, as he can land much quicker than Catwoman. He also makes a much cleaner getaway.
2. Deathstroke: His stun gun as well as the remote claw were awesome. He had a few other gadgets that generally just made stealth pretty fun.
1. Red Hood: The guns make stealth so much more fun with the risk reward of Insta kill vs alerting basically everyone to your position.

1. Azrael being a Batman clone was whatever ngl. I remember people being mad about it and I was like "you know where he shows up in the story right? training to be Batman's replacement and you want the combat to be pretty similar so you're not thrown off". Also one unique thing he does w/ Batman's gadgets is spray a cross w/ the explosive gel. I always was amused by that
2. Red Hood's potential as a playable character in challenge maps is wasted b/c of maps not being designed for him. I.e. the bulletproof troops from the second stage of his story DLC are an extremely good counter to bullet spam without being frustrating like shield enemies who you can't even punch out
3. Catwoman got gibbed in Arkham Knight. Where is her double takedowns? Where is her whip disarm?
4. Robin's ok. I hate that you can't plant his snap flash on downed enemies in Knight and that he lost his smoke pellet also in that game. Him getting a RHC tho in Flip of a Coin is fucking awesome
5. Batgirl is the best designed of the three female characters. She's a Batman with less gadgets but she definitely quick and powerful. One good thing about Batgirl in challenge maps is that she earned some of Batman's abilities like disarm and destroy

6. Catwoman. Only 3 gadgets 2 of which are remotely useful. Fun to play as her but she kinda gets boring fast for me after awhile.
7. Azrael. As others mentioned he's basically a Batman skin but he's got a unique look to him that I like and would have been better to not just be a Batman clone
8. Harley. The insanity thing is a neat mechanic but it doesn't make sense she can suddenly fight so well in that but then get her ass handed to her in story mode.
9. Joker. I mean it seemed good in theory but 2 of his gadgets for predator mode are a 1 time only use. The googles while acting as a "detective mode" you stand still. His combat is way too wacky for my tastes and again he's not really much of a fighter either. Just hard to get into playing as him without getting tiresome.
The weird mind thing where Batman forces him out of his mind is neat tho

I’m disappointed that the Joker and Bane thugs from Arkham Origins multiplayer didn’t make the list.
I'm sorry, but are you high?!! Azreal (and to a certain extent batgirl) is a direct copy of batman. Why would he be on this list? I'm very surprised nightwing isn't on this list. His moves are much more interesting than say Robin, and is faster than any of the characters. And speed in free flow combat was essential.

I probably disliked Azrael the most. I mean it's literially the same as playing with Batman but you have less options and how does Azrael even have Batarangs they could have at least changed those to shurikens. Azrael should have had his sword like Batman had a sword against clayface, maybe you could use that to fight the ninja enemies..

I know I very late to this but I wish azrael's combat was just a more brutal looking batman, and he had his own versions of gadgets. For example instead of batarangs he had daggers.

I agree with everything they said about A Matter of Family and Robin. Damn I LOVE using classic Tim Drake costume Robin.
Harley is the most annoying character DC has right now - totally overexposed and overdone! Nightwing feels 'off' for some reason and although I like him, Azrael is indeed a bit Vanilla.
