Fast-forward 2 hours later: was still watching, a veritable bug-war junkie. I most like the 3D animations that show the bugs' defensive/offensive attributes from the point of view of another bug. And, the silly growling sounds are a hoot. The centipedes are the shiznit.
Amazing video, excellent content. And I love the gruesome sound effects morphed into the individual insects. As a student of entomology, I have to say that this is the best series of insect videos since the Helstrom Chronicles.

The Frigid Centurion But, the reason the centipede wins everytime is because its FASTER and it has hard armor. The cricket is faster and has the mouth parts to crush throughthe centipedes armor.
There have been two centipede losses, though one of them was against another OP opponent (spider in a web) and the centipede still came close to winning.
Something that ended up being really important here is temperment. Scorpions prefer to end fights quickly, either scaring an opponent off or getting in a quick sting. If they can't do that, they retreat. Centipedes are far more aggressive and will wrap and bite opponents. The Scorpion was holding it's own in the initial skirmish, keeping the centipede back with the tail, getting a partial grip on it, and even briefly knocking it off balance, almost stinging through. But the scorpion retreated, and that gave the faster centipede an opening to take out the tail.

I just watched the Brave Wilderness videos in which Coyote Peterson sustained a bite from one of these giant centipedes. ON PURPOSE. He went to the emergency room for the very first time in any of his videos. That is one badass bug, all the most formidable abilities of a snake and a spider. (creeped-out shiver)
Honestly I would say of all the bug fights, the centipede is probably the strongest bug, and if there was a Monster Bug War world champion it could be this particular centipede based on its strength, speed, and ferocity(and venom)
