Santa’s New Shop!
Our 2019 holiday video was inspired by the significant expansion of both the GK Detroit manufacturing campus and the UPI Kentucky fabrication facility.
To put in context how far Gallagher-Kaiser (GK), and more specifically how far our fabrication capabilities have come: we started from a 4,000 SQFT facility on Lyndon Avenue in Detroit. Today, in 2019, we’re in the process of adding an additional 36,000 SQFT to our 250,000 SQFT manufacturing campus on Mt. Elliott Street and have the capacity to employ nearly 450 skilled 292 sheet metal workers on any given day.
GK subsidiary, Universal Piping Industries (UPI), applied that same commitment to world class fabrication with their own updated Kentucky facility.
Universal Piping Industries has produced large-scale industrial piping systems for projects around North America from the state of Kentucky for over 7 years. In 2019, UPI opened a Lexington location to further support the growing needs of both their own customers and those of our shared base. The new space adds 10,000 SQFT to assist in not only diversifying the many different types of pipe fabrication, but in expanding their modular build operation.
We’ve always been proud of our fabrication facilities. This holiday season, we are especially grateful to have had an opportunity to expand at a size and scale we’ve never had before.
