GK Detroit Manufacturing Campus Expansion Progress

GK announced plans to expand their existing 100,000 SQFT manufacturing facility on Mt. Elliott street in Detroit and purchase the neighboring 10 acre lot, with a 150,000 SQFT building next door. The purchase extends beyond real estate as the corporation has also made a substantial financial investment in the latest cutting and metal forming equipment available today. Gallagher-Kaiser will now have the most sophisticated and efficient metal fabrication campus in North America.
The expansion is emblematic of GK’s commitment to not only the state of Michigan, but to the new era of innovation in Detroit.
Gallagher-Kaiser’s modular build capabilities have nearly doubled in the last 5 years. The additional square footage will bolster that existing growth and further support the company’s aggressive safety, schedule and cost savings goals, exceeding all industry standards with unprecedented levels of efficiency.
The space will also house GK’s Research and Development team, supporting the company’s goal of keeping innovation at the forefront and providing significantly more space for safely testing new technology. Gallagher-Kaiser’s 120,000 SQFT corporate headquarters will remain in Troy, MI.

GK will continue to employ a workforce from Local Union 292; providing them with the most technologically advanced, 250,000 SQFT sheet metal fabrication shop in the industry to operate from.
