- I dedicate this one to our brethren in Iraq, as well as those who cannot celebrate the Birth of Our Lord in the Middle East, Africa, and around the globe.

This is a Melkite Catholic Chant. Melkite Catholic Church is one of the Eastern Catholic Churches in communion with the Roman Catholic Church based in Damascus, Syria.

That being said, I know that many Africans were Catholics (among other religions) but after the Arab conquest they've converted. That being said, nowadays Tunisia is 99% Muslim (at least in name) and it's very very unlikely to come across a person of another faith, that's why I found it weird. I know that because I lived in Tunisia.

@@jacobschmaus9271 Christianity has longer history in Iran than Islam! The Syriac Church of the East was based in Ctesiphon once, called Persian Church at that time. Christian communities exist in Iran atm also, but mostly as an ethnic religion for Armenians and Assyrian. Chaldean Catholics also exist. The problem right now is with converting Christians, who are forced to underground mass and preaching. I have hope that this will change as nationalism in Iran is growing and will eventually topple the mohammadan occupation

According to Catholic tradition (not confirmed), the three magi converted to Christianity after they saw another miraculous star over St Thomas the Apostle when he was going on his way to India. He baptized them and made them Bishops, it is said that they were martyred, and that their heads are now in the Cathedral of Cologne, Germany.

People tend not to realise that the first land to fall to Islam was Arabia.
What’s really fascinating is the history of pre-620s Arabic Peninsula. There were numerous tribes and kingdoms, but one of significant size and influence (Lakhmids, Ghassanids) were Christian. If my memory serves well, it was Nestorian and Monophysitic Christianity… but still. There were also Himyarites, worshippers of Judaism. And of course there were many idol worshippers, there were polytheistic religions (in Mecca for instance) - Arabia was fragmented so it makes sense
Many of these Arabic Christians converted or fled after Islamic invasion, but some retained their faith to this day. Anyway, I find it pretty interesting to think about a world in which Arabic Peninsula became fully Christianised…
This song makes me think about such a universe. As a Pole, I want to express love and support to all Arabic Christians - may God bless you and help to maintain as well as spread the word of God in the place where you live

In Morocco we have a system called “Principality of Believers” And the king of Morocco is the leader of it, And basically it means that if you’re a christian or a jewish or a muslim it doesn’t matter, The only thing that matters that is you’re Moroccan, And it’s like a secularism system but it’s so old (700 A.D) So that’s why our kingdom is the best!

@Christus Regnat if this principality of believers does not involve any religious practices, I don't know how this is religious indifference. The Old Testament is full of servants faithful to God who also served pagan kings. The Bible also tells us to obey the state for God put the rulers in their place. Basically It doesn't matter who you have to obey on earth if your heart belongs to the kingdom of God.
