It was his first time doing stand up in front of more than a few drunken people in a pub/small local venue. Performing in front of millions on national TV is quite a step up from that so I would be surprised if he wasn’t bricking it lol

One of the best parts of Conan's shows were new stand-up comedians coming on then becoming regulars and then main guests because Conan just loved their comedy even before they go mainstream.
