Thanks for posting this video. I’m making a mooring bridle as my first splicing project. The guy in the shop said put a loop on each end of one length of rope then fold it in half and use whipping near to the folded end to create a loop. I’d thought about doing it the way you did of splicing two lengths together. Yours is the first video I came across on making a bridle and I was really pleased to see you do it the way I’d thought so that’s it, decision made 👍🏼

This is an example of why sailors have strong forearms. When I was in the Navy I looked like Popeye. 🤪

That looks great. Splicing is a good skill to have.

Hi Stephen! Yes sir! I don't use the bridle anymore... Now, I use a snubber that I fashioned out of the rope used in that Bridle! Thanks for watching man!!!

@@sailingfrogsleap May I ask, why you no longer use this set up? I was going to copy your system, but am now concerned you may have found a flaw so that is why you no longer use it. Thanks

@@12FlyVA The problem is the bowsprit/bobstay combo... As the boat moves around on its anchor, the legs of the anchor bridle would ride up against the bobstay putting pressure on the bobstay and chafing against the legs of the bridle.

Your hand is in the way… best definition but I wish I could see better. The 3rd thread challenges me.
