I cut out some dopamine boosting shit like gaming and mindless scrolling and passed, and I meditated habitually. Tbh your videos made me figure out more about myself in these last four months than in the last ten years.

    first step of my dopamine detox : prolonged water fast to solve a food addiction.
    day 8 : went from 124kg to 115kg this morning.

    • @lordaragorn001
      @lordaragorn001 4 года назад +8

      @@aanghel brother, i realized how deeply ingrained my food addiction is.
      dislodging it out of my head is harder than removing a tumor.
      the past 7 days i'd literally spend most of the day doing nothing, low dopamine, which is completely normal considering i was pretty much 'shooting' myself with food every 30 mins or so, for as far as my memory can take me
      most of the day would be spent obsessing and thinking about food in a weird neurotic way ( i was initially going to break the fast at day 7, but decided to keep going until i can properly function without obsessing on food, until the addiction is dislodged for good), i eat to live, i do not live to eat.
      it got slightly better today : i am somewhat semi-functional, i can do things, i actually managed to get myself to do some yoga and push-ups.
      next step after i get this food thing under control is my youtube addiction, and pornography consumption ( although occasional , once very 4 to 5 days) poison at any dose is poison nonetheless.
      I go back a long time on this channel (from the times you were posting those first PMO videos),
      i respect and love what you do, keep it up my friend
      sorry for the long response.

  • @johnlee6994
    @johnlee6994 4 года назад +23

    You watching the fight video and enjoying it after being on the detox, shows me how much my dopamine receptors have been dampened by the constant influx. We are no longer deriving as much pleasure from the videos that we watch, and the posts that we scroll through constantly every day. We are simply looking for the next hit. Things that would bring us true happiness and creative expression such as the arts become mundane. Through this almost unnoticed and unconscious decision, we stunt our creative ability and the happiness that we derive out of our lives. We think of things that would otherwise being us great joy, as a grind, and we miss out on great experiences because of that. We could be so much more if we weren't consumed by this. Break free, don't live a slave to advertisers and "influencers" who have nothing to add to your life, no wisdom to impart. Contrary to what mainstrram society is feeding us, our lives are better without their bullshit. I've got to say bro, I love the channel, and the message that you are spreading. This motivated me to try a detox myself.

Now I’m reading 3/4 books a week, spend most of my free time outside in the forest and even built an entire downhill bike trail in just a few days. This just makes you get shit done and if you ever decide to have some simple pleasure like a movie or a game it’s because you WANT to and not because your addicted brain makes you do it. Also it goes to show that you can’t max out every aspect and skill that there is. Sometimes you just have to prioritize and focus on things that are important and have the most potential for you

    I think a dopamine detox will be the key to my success. Since I was a little kid, I always struggled in school because whenever I was home I would spend all my spare time playing video games or watching movies. I barely got by in high school and lacked motivation and discipline. There were also times where I learned a new hobby such as working out or making music, and I was unconsciously doing a dopamine detox because those were the only things I was committed to. Those hobbies were so enjoyable that I spent hours on end learning new things which would seem like work to me nowadays, but that's when I made the most progress.

    Greate vide mate. I did dopamine detox (last week) and it felt amazing. I was way more focused on my studies, reading a lot, cooking, meditating and exercising a lot, among other stuff. I connected more with my family and spent more time with them. They even told me i was in a great mood that week. I slept so good cant even describe it. And i have the same feeling as you about how present i was doing my activities. But this week i started adding some things back and i already feel like im in a lower frequency, its difficult to explain. Something similar happened when i realize pmo was trash and i relapsed. I think we don't realize we are addicts until we try to let it go. Now im not sure what to do. Do you have any advice bro? Thank you for your reports and keep them coming. I don't have and haven't had any accounts like facebook, instagram etc. I have gone off dating to be celibate and harness sexual energy, gone off maintaining friendships which don't serve (would you believe I am so dedicated to this I cut out having friends because it is distracting personally), gone off watching movies, I don't play video games, currently reading Echkart Tolle books but here and there, gone off excessive net surfing and limited myself to only watching a few youtubers like yourself sometimes (who I found is apparently doing a dopamine detox too) but trying to transition off even that to further go within and not look to any outside sources.
    I called it a digital detox. Yeah it seems crazy to be cutting out so much, but I am finding I like it more than being distracted with all of the above. It is liberating the Soul.

      What are the 5 syllables

    • @julu1306
      @julu1306 4 года назад

      aanghel
      It’s a form of meditation from Tibetan Buddhism, specifically from Bon Buddhism, said to be one of the oldest practices from Tibet.... the second syllable is the famous “OM” which focuses on the state of awareness, in a sequence, the first syllable is A, second syllable is OM, third is HUNG, fourth is RAM, and fifth is DZA. Each syllable sound resonates with each energy center in the body, such as the frontal part of the head, the throat,heart, belly, and pubic area. In many ways, your dopamine detox tunes your body with the 5 syllables (also called, Warrior Syllables) it’s a beautiful practice. With your dopamine detox and this practice together, the experience is magical, we as beings, experience the essence of our existence when we focus on what is and not what we think it is. I add the singing bowls to open and end the session. It is a very intuitive practice; it is difficult to move forward if you do not know how A feels.
      In Rinpoche’s book, “Tibetan Sound Healing” guides the practice, with explanation of each syllable.
      My reference: “Tibetan Sound Healing,” Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche

And now, I feel like I don't know who I am as a person, because when your have MDD, you try to be like every other person, be it fictional or not; but you never want to be yourself. I don't even know how the fuck to express what it is that I'm feeling, because the truth is, I don't even have a clue as to what is going on. Do you think that the dopamine detox will give me the clarity required to push through this shit?

    Brother, After watching these vids, i totally get what you mean about dopamine but I never understood it, on a surface level.
    I guess it's like not wasting or using up energy and feeling good on meaningless things that get us no where or in s hole, but keeping or saving it to get the most benefite and enjoyment for the things that will mean the most to us, or for what we truly want to be committed to, or to become????
    With all my fears and baggage I hardly ever drank alcohol and never used drugs. I have never used facebook or social media (I always tell people, NOPE, I have an unlisted number and an unlisted life). but now, I do like to learn from Utube, and its the only way we can hang out and grow bro!!
    Throughout life, in order to be my best at work (which was a licensed electrical contractor and property manager to my own properties) I somehow knew I couldn't even drink too much coffee, use too much nicotine, or have too much sexual release. You explained exactly what I was doing (sort of)!!
    Since i retired I really want to learn how to pay basketball ( im 6'2") and learn how to fight a little (self defense for personal growth)... To take lessons (i so wish I could hire you!!!), and now I have a much better idea why I seem to be putting it off???
    You are so cool, in every way and alive with great living, motivation and ideas of what you want!! (and enlightening others)
    Besides growing from and connecting to good Men I feared, I guess I've developed some not so good dopamine habits that need to change so I can focus on my real goals!!
    Thanks, Big Guy/Brother
