Excellent video and clear explanation. I am attempting this but my wheels are insulated at both ends of the axle. I think I will try conductive paint.

Brilliant instructional video. So clearly explained and demonstrated. Nice steady camera work with excellent lighting makes even detail so easy to see and understand. The close up still shots were very useful, too. Completed train train looks awesome running in the dark! Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you. My biggest worry doing that is burning my hand when soldering but so far, so good.

Mine has metal wheels, but both sides have the plastic bush to insulate the shaft

Same here, I am getting some conductive paint to see if that helps.

Where did you get those axle pickup springs? As I have all of the remaining pieces to assemble the coach lights, (I have a local electronics store here in Perth Western Australia) , I just need to source those pickup springs. Can you help please?

They are a product made by DCC concepts available in the UK from here... www.dccconcepts.com/product/pickup-springs-2-0mm-axles-48-pack/ whether they supply to Australia I have no idea I'm afraid. They are essentially a single copper strand wound around a 2mm rod, so probably fairly simple to create a make-shift version.

    Hi,
I’ve just messaged you on eBay. Can I please ask if you offer this service to do whereby I send my 4 coaches and you do this work? Please let me know your thoughts.
    Many thanks,
    J
