I'm planning a move from ten years of EFL teaching into getting my PGCE and becoming an international school teacher. I've always preferred teaching adults and older teens, but the industry just isn't there in the country I've settled in anymore. Classroom management has never been my strong suit. So I've started applying some of your tips from other videos to the few kids classes I currently have at weekends, with some success. Your channel is giving me much more confidence that I will be able to make it in this new era of my career, so big thanks 🙏

The problem in working with kids is that you have to use more energy for them and it's really tough

First of all, I think your advices are very useful. I am the head teacher for 1st grade middle school in Mexico, but also the counselor and the principal, I have been trying to set some rules in my classroom, but the problem here is that I don't have the support or the back up whenever I need it from my superiors. My students are noisy and mischievous, what can I do in this case?

I really need your advice, because my classes are out of control after 3 weeks of starting, I am an English teacher for nonnative speakers and believe me, it is hard because they find it so hard to understand

Sorry to hear about your classes.
To regain control in your ESL class, consider these steps:
Set clear expectations: Establish and communicate class rules and consequences.
Consistency is key: Enforce rules consistently and fairly.
Engage students: Make lessons interesting and interactive to keep them engaged.
Positive reinforcement: Praise good behavior and participation.
Address issues privately: Speak to disruptive students privately to understand their concerns.
Seek support: Involve school administration or counselors if necessary.
Stay calm: Maintain composure during disruptions.
Remember, patience and a structured approach will help you regain control.

This was great but there's a missing variable. What if you're a 'visiting' teacher (from a hired company) and the students are already in the room. Is bookmarking the class with greeting the teacher and saying goodbye to them enough to tackle this element?

I am a substitute teacher and don't have the luxury of implementing these strategies from day one. The reality is many of us are entering the classroom mid-semester or on-call. What strategies can you offer so were not spending the majority of lesson time on classroom management or; worse jeopardizing well-behaved students' learning experience?

I’m sorry but I find you do a lot of talking but I don’t walk away with concrete strategies. Of course I already clearly gave the rules and reinforced them several times. Following your advice on posture, etc. you also said in previous videos not to point out the trouble makers. I swear I’ve done all of this and the class is still out of control. I won’t give up but I’m getting exhausted. They all signed the paper. I’ll call anyone who hasn’t brought it.

How do you handle the alpha dog who manipulates their peers against you with foxhole bonds and sweet talk ("Hi, friends!"). I had a student whose behavior RUINED learning for the others, yet THEY were intrigued with the trouble-maker. Their parents were useless in supporting my efforts to hold the ringleader accountable. So was my administration and counselor, both spineless.
