Trauma based upon early childhood abuse, sexual, physical, emotional, with no ability to escape will and does change brain structure for people such as myself.
I had to learn this devastating fact. However, in understanding my flash backs, disassociative behavior, and anger triggers are not going away, ever. I learned my base line identity. I learned my symptoms are not my fault! What a huge step for me.
I am learning how to recognize my triggers and avoid the self judgement trap. I am simply a human trying to move forward. I am moving forward.
I am 67, a male, married to a great person. Everything concerning joy of life, lies at my feet.
I simply have to remember, I did not cause my pain.
Try to remember my friends, movement within one self is life. Keep moving.
    My best to all
    R

As a sufferer of ÇPTSD, for me it was growing up in a alcoholic home, and I was continually traumatized by the same people. Everyday, every week the same abuses, and the same dread of having done something wrong. Without my EMDR therapy I wouldn't be able to work and heal. Thanks guys, your great 👍

Living with complex PTSD is an awful disorder, seldom does anyone understand. I have spent a long time working at my traumas (from birth to 18YO and beyond) through professional input e.g. CAT, EMDR and now Schema therapy, but as any professional will tell you, the triggers and flashbacks still occur and you have to live with / try to manage. Whilst I would recommend all of these therapies, the only limitations of EMDR relates to single traumas or ones you can recall as opposed to multiple traumas over many years. My question relates to use of Trihexyphenidyl - have the team observed successful use of this medication to manage flashbacks?

From my experience I would say that there is the initial phase (may take few years) of diagnosis recognition and some practices to help start managing it (whatever practice you relate to. From therapy types to self care, yoga…whatever…) but the big leap is when you are at enough regulation to have long term positive life experiences like steady and caring relationships, motherhood and work. It gets much better than

Haha anyone notice in the chat replay saying they could just see from this lady's face that she's not had it hard, because she could laugh about having generational trauma (um, discounting that laughing is a lot of peoples discomfort disguise)
This lady, if you;ve seen any other interviews about her past, oh yes she HAS had it hard, and she's put in an ASSLOAD of work towards healing, and her huge big unweighted grin is the end result of that healing work

Please, please, please. Only talk about issues on a public platform you truly have knowledge on. C-PTSD, or Complex Trauma, has little to do with PTSD. C-PTSD almost never develops after a car accident.
C-PTSD stems from attachment trauma is, broadly speaking, just another term for childhood trauma, though it can also develop or worsen in adulthood after experiencing severe abuse or INTERPERSONAL violence. You simply talked vaguely about trauma, not complex trauma.
Complex trauma is a very unique phenomenon and *cannot* be compared to PTSD in any way. This verges on misinformation. Please, you have a responsibility. If you want to inform your viewers accurately and responsibly on Complex Trauma, invite Kina Penelope to your show. C-PTSD can only be healed relationally, because it is caused in relationships with other human beings. Car accidents have NOTHING to do with C-PTSD.

CPTSD is not another term for childhood trauma. Most cases are a result of childhood trauma but it can happen to anyone who is in a traumatic situation for a period of time with no way to escape. For example, a person could develop CPTSD in adulthood due to an abusive relationship, solitary confinement, or human trafficking.

@@AnHebrewChild Oops. I did finish reading their comment, but I guess seeing "just another term for childhood trauma" tripped me up and I missed the rest of that paragraph. It's not unusual for me to get caught on a detail and not realize I'm not absorbing information for a moment. I thought it was limited to video/audio content but apparently it can happen with reading too.

“Let’s have fun talking about people that have PTSD because we have high cost degrees and basically NO PTSD or learning disabilities which is the only reason we made it through college!! 😂”
This is the mentality of almost every therapist I’ve ended up with!
And they got themselves fired and worse!
The internet has shown people up for what they truly are!
    Greedy, egotistical and empty!
But I am always up front with being a human because I’m the patient!
This is like the blind leading the blind! But I like to leave them in the ditch so they can get washed out. Then maybe they’ll come around.
    I’m done with this channel!
People like this tend to set me off.
    Sorry
