What i use when i set a motor on the frame is take some 3/8 bolts and cut the heads off them and thread them in the mount holes and they work as guide pins! easiest way to line up the motor.

I would be less worried about breaking a self-tapping bolt, but more worried about cracking one of the bosses that the bolts thread into. Tapping the holes was a VERY good idea! There's nothing like breaking in a brand new engine, it's almost like getting a new toy. You just can't wait to try it out. Get a new oil filter, and do a very early oil and filter change. That will help ensure that the engine uses very little oil, and produces the most power on the least amount of fuel. That break-in oil change is crucial.

Blowout the bits as you go, use tap free for aluminum do not use regular oil you may break the tap. There is Tap free fluid for Aluminum, and one for steel.

Is there a part 2? I’m waiting on that exact same engine, lol. I’m replacing the old busted Intek on an ‘02 John Deere L120 with your 24 hp Pro Intek with a 16 amp starter and wonder if wiring harness will match. I got the separate choke and throttle too, I hope.

that white powdery stuff is packed with the engine so the dogs can't smell it at the border.

I just found your channel last night. I watched around 6 of your videos and already feel like I know a lot more about mower engines now. *I have a question though.*
My uncle gave me a broke down push mower with a 6.75hp Briggs & Stratton. It's from Yard Machines that has a Ready Start and is self propelled. Since I didn't know anything about mowers, I didn't even bother looking at it until now. It sat uncovered outside all winter. While starting to tinker with it, I noticed the spark plug was taken out, and the hole was left uncovered. Obviously it can't be good if water managed to get in. Does this mean that I should completely take apart the motor to inspect/clean it? What would you suggest?

Nah, as long as the engine isn't frozen up I would try it out. Make sure to check the oil for water contamination before starting.

Jeff's Little Engine Service I guess oil looks milky if it has water in it? It didn't appear milky when I checked. It wasn't very black, so I think the oil is just new.. It's definitely not frozen. The brake assembly is rusty and a little stiff. The stop cable is too loose to disengage the brake, so I guess I'll need a new one of those. I'm tempted to try to Frankenstein it and figure a way to install a toggle switch instead. The carburetor is extremely carroded in the float cavity area. I'm unsure how well it will clean up.. I live out in the country, so I won't be able to finish it up until I make a run to the nearest town to get supplies, like carburetor cleaner, those feeler gauges, WD-40, air filter, and whatever specific gasket/O-ring that I'll need for the carb. Not to mention the little red rubber piece for the float pin.
I appreciate the reply and help.
