It is Black market connections I had a game where I almost died from it then someone use cyclonic rift
You only 2 or 3 trigger if you have consistent lifegain or ur playing a deck that is cycling/fishing for combo pieces. Otherwise u just.... die lmao

I traded my list version rhystic study away and the next pack i opened had the tales rhystic lol I took it as a sign that the multiverse wanted me to have it.

Nope, I hated playing with it in a borrow deck too. Having to ask literally every 5 second if they pay was so cringe I just started pretending I don't have it on board after a few rounds
Rhystic Study is a Stax piece that blue players pretend is a card draw engine.
Depends on your playgroup. It can be card draw, it just requires your playgroup to not be willing to pay the one.
Is a super card draw in cedh

I didn’t used to play any black, I traded in my black market connections card for a bg collector pack, got plenty of dragons for the dragon deck but now that I’m building a Rowan scion of war deck I definitely miss that card
It's down to $15 now, with it being reprinted in a LCI precon.
They hate it because Commander players refuse to put spot removal in their deck.
Or your deck colors don't have good enchantment removal (looking at you, Rakdos players)

I only recently came to MTG from Yugioh and we have a similar card that’s really good for a similar reason
It’s called «Max “C”» and you can activate it on any turn from the hand, and for the rest of that turn anytime your opponent tries to special summon a monster you get to draw a card
But this card here is even stronger than that because it’s any time you cast a spell which is basically everything in MTG. It’s literally “actually do ANYTHING and I’m getting draw power” except I guess here you can pay to negate it but with Yugioh you need a card to negate it. So maybe they’re on par. Then again draw power is insanely good in Yugioh. Probably hard to determine which is stronger in its respective game

cEDH player here. To all my friends who play casual: just pay for the Rhystic Study. It’s not fun I know but it’s worth not losing the game over
The only time I pay the one is if they have a 1-3 card hand. In my play group it isn't worth it otherwise, as everyone has insane amounts of draw, ramp, or other value

Amy is my spirit animal and i always try to reach her greatness when playing edh (aka the biggest meme format)
When I first started playing commander I got 4 Rhystic Studies, and removed them from my decks fast because "Do you wanna pay for that" was so annoying. But it's just such a good effect that you gotta do it.

Thing is, if Rhystic Study asked its controller to pay 1 instead of the opponents, it would probably be no issue. It even feels more on brand--similar to Mind's Eye, just with opponents casting spells instead of drawing.
But no. Instead, we have Rhystic Study 😔

i like the way she despises some cards and brings verbal aggression during attacks. this is the way to crash enemies.
Eine absolut wichtige Faustregel, für die meisten Decks: Sei nicht der Erste, der abgeht.
Ich hatte mal ein gut optimiertes Belbe Deck, was mir teilweise turn 2 6 extra mana verschafft hat.
Zur Folge hatte ich sehr schnell 3 gegner am Hals, die mich langfristig vom Board gehasst haben.
Als ich die Liste anpasste und teurere Pinger spielte, flutschte die Sache besser.
Die Gegner hatten mehr Zeit Belbes Manavorteil für sich zu nutzen, und Ich hatte mehr Zeit entsprechend zu reagieren - ganz plötzlich war ich am längeren Hebel. Und das nur, weil ich nicht super gierig gespielt habe und mich zurücklehnte.

As a casual, you should always pay 1. It’s only when you need their help will you let them draw; mutual benefit on a temporary basis.
This makes me really want to get into paper magic. Looks so fun compared to arena!

Rhystic Study is the reason I build punishment decks so they takes damage every time they draw
It's always crazy to me when, in a 1v1 format, someone gets rid of my BMC. Like, I'm getting *some* value from it, but unless I have life gain on the board, I'm not doing a lot
I now know how to not get my stuff targeted, thank you 🙏

Anyone playing rhystic studies just needs to be prepared when the fully wound up backhand arrives to sweep that nonsense off the board.
Sometimes it's smart gameplay to let one player keep their thing. Better for only 2 players to be incentived to kill your enchantment. However, in this case with one of the exiled cards being rhystic Study, that danger is probably fairly low

To be honest, I'm a new player and have played 2 games so far, so I know fuck all about the game. It was just a neat observation how I beat a friend of mine with a deck I borrowed from him and tried to make a joke out of it. Didn't go as I planned I guess.

I'd actually be interested in getting into this but dang. I live in a city of 500k in Canada and looked online for FB groups of people that link up to play and best I could do was a group of 140 people with 3 posts a year lol. Thought it be bigger than that.

I'm convinced most of the people who hate rhystic study, are the ones who don't understand you need to pay the 1, or remove it. They just stick their hand in the sand to it and play as if it isn't there. Then next thing you know they're griping about how far behind to the rhystic study player they are after the study player has now drawn like 9 card for 3 invested mana. And then blame the card as if it wasn't their own dumbass that made it so crushing.

People hate Rhystic Study because it's "their fault" that the enchantment's controller draws cards. "It's just one mana". "He's already drawn 4 cards!" "That counterspell? Yeah, just drew it off of you not paying the 1."
