Hope you are recovering well! I also wanted to share some of the curriculums we have loved for my elementary students: Teaching Textbooks online Math (biggest lifesaver), BJU for English (has an excellent writing component), Memoria Press for Spelling, Literature guides, and Handwriting. We always put a Charlotte Mason spin on everything we do. Short uncomplicated lessons, lots of living books, character, nature study, Bible, poetry, etc. 😊
Thanks for the update! Science Mama has a video on her channel about combining Abeka phonics with All About Reading. Glad to hear you are feeling better and hopefully you will have a full recovery soon!
Hi Christine, thank you so much for sharing your homeschooling wisdom and experience! I was hoping to get your thoughts on TGATB Language Arts, specifically grammar in Levels 3 and below. Would you say grammar in Levels K-2 is necessary going into Level 3? I’m considering just focusing on phonics and reading through Level 2 then jump into the whole curriculum in Level 3, but I just want to make sure we’re not skipping anything that will then make Level 3 too challenging. Thanks!
Spelling question for you? Did you guys try All About Spelling? Did you not like it? We went from Logic of English Essentials to Sequential Spelling and it’s ok… but I wish it had more guidance in regards to spelling rules, etc… so I’m debating trying AAS. DO you have experience with it? Thank you!!
I've brainstormed combining AAR's instruction with Abeka handouts. I think that's one element of AAR that's missing. Not all kids/families like worksheets, but I wish it was an option for AAR. I'll be curious if you end up doing that, and how it goes.
Sometimes I think kids brains just aren't ready earlier to read. It is a tricky balance between working through hard things and waiting for their brains to be ready. We definitely flirt with the line in my homeschool
How do you handle the fluency sheets with AAR? They look so overwhelming from the samples I’ve seen and it’s been the reason I’ve held off trying it. I am curious about if BJU has a learning to read program?

I'm so sorry! It feels like everything falls apart when Mom's not doing well. Praying for you for endurance and relief!

Yes! I totally agree. It has to be something you play by ear.
I went with Logic of English because it seemed to combine the best of both worlds with Abeka and AAR.
All about reading doesnt work in our house so we are trying something else.

At the moment, I write each word/phrase on a little LCD doodle pad. We do about a third or quarter of the fluency sheet per day until we’re done.
That’s a great idea!
We love using our LCD boards for everything!
sounds like sun poisoning.
I think you're right!
