- The long awaited Tessuti Patterns Mandy Boat Tee sew-along is finally here!
This sew-along is aimed at the complete beginner.
I take you through every step of making this simple boat neck t-shirt. If this is your first time sewing a t-shirt then don't worry, this tutorial explains and shows you everything. You can make this completely on a normal sewing machine, so if you don't have an overlocker/serger it's not a problem!
I've also included a few alterations that I often do to this pattern - a high-low hem and a split hem.

Great tutorial I have printed of the pattern and have some navy striped jersey that’s been sitting in my stash waiting. Many thanks I do like tutorials even if I have already made a particular pattern there may be something I did different that will make the next one better.

I wonder if, in the absence of an overlocker, if a zigzag stitch could be used on the edges of the fabric before they are stitched together.

I’m back to watch this again because I’m ready to cut out the pattern pieces and I’m not sure what size to use. There’s no size guide.
Hi there. I made the old version which was a one-size fits all option only. But the new version, which I'm presuming is probably the one you have, is multi-sized. The first page of the instructions gives you the size guide.
Threadquarters -I figured it out, thanks! I actually went with the XL and added about four inches to the length of both front and back-even though I stuck with the same hi-lo split like you did. I like to cover more of my derrière 😂 My very first ever attempt to use a stretch knit fabric and it looks great! I really appreciate your tutorials! Cheers!

For this project I think I had all the thread tensions set to approx 4, and then I also had the differential feed up a bit to reduce the chance of a 'wobbly' seam!

Hi Michelle. Absolutely! In fact, I think that the pattern instructs you to use a double needle. I just prefer not to, so showed my method in the tutorial instead. x
