I love the original the most, but yeah agreed. This is just too clean though, I like the rawness in the original. Of course I still love this version. I love all their songs lol
A year ago my gf broke up with me and date my best friend lol, i never felt the lyric of any music but neck deep, it was like they were singing what i was felling or felt, these guy's music helped me a lot to be better and go ahead.
I hate these hateful comments. I personally love this version, it's fuller. I find people having the same arguments regarding the raw version of Mt. Diablo, and the Under Soil And Dirt version. But overall it is pointless, just love the music and keep the good vibes going.
It's obvious the old version wouldn't fit in with the band's new sound, hence the change of key, but I think the old version's lower pitch and more raw sound is a lot better unfortunately as I'm sure many of others agree
totally agree, the new sound of this version and the whole album in general is lacking the raw aggression of the ep's. This album is still good though, just different.
come on guys, this version is waaayyy better. there is a lot more instrumental work going on in this one. this song, as someone else said, sounds way more full than the previous version. from a musicians standpoint, this is a great improvement. and personally i like how the mixing for the vocals was done on this version... i think the vocals previously stood out too much. and im really liking how they toned it down a note or two. the lack of the word "here" in the last verse, and the timing for the outro ( i feel as if it was played too fast/too early compared to the previous outro) are my only complaints.
Liza Nichols The reason why I like this version better its because it sounds more fuller in terms of how it was produced and mixed at the studio, not only that the vocals are cleaner and especially the drums are much more polished in my opinion :)
There's something to like in both really. I like this one for the better production and its overall more polished, while the original is more raw and aggressive.
I still really like this one and love this album as a whole, but this version of the song doesn't make me want to break shit and sing as loud as I can, though its sound does fit in with the rest of the album.
I love both versions for different reasons, but the original got me hooked on them! all in all it makes me feel better about dating after someone hurt me.
I think this sounds more professional and its a good change for them because theyre growing up because bands do that so be happy for them. I think this sounds rad as fuck.
xboxingian The way the vocals are sung (rain in july is much more energy into the singing and more powerful while this version has the vocals more laid back), the pitch is also different instrumentally and vocally, if you tried to play these songs over eachother at the same time it would sound very bad. Whereas if they were at the same pitch the songs would sound right being played at the same time.
Take all I am Tear me into pieces Deconstruct my bones and tell me you still don't know who I am You've got some nerve thinking we could be friends Well what did you expect? A fucking compliment?
Justin Keys I totally agree with you and I have this argument with people all the damn time. They have similarities, obviously when they produce the same genre of music but there are obvious differences between their music
Not sure which version I prefer; the production on this is far better but it lacks some of the raw aggression of the EP track and the vocals could be a little higher in the mix..
it's about a girl who cheated on him, (maybe not Ben in general) but it's about forgetting everything they shared in the past and how's he's basically not getting over it. that's most of the first part. then it's mostly like him saying go ahead and destroy me cause he just doesn't stand to deal what happened.
I like this version but prefer the Rain in July version so much more. I'm not sure I felt there was more raw passion in the older version, the beginning didn't give me the "jump off the walls" feel and the bridge didn't hold the impact there was in the previous version. Still a good song though, I just think the earlier version of this song was better
RIJ version was so much better than this version, I can't help that vocals are produced and engineered badly, they just don't sit on top on the mix like they should, slightly disappointing.
No offence to hopeless but every time a band signs to them their following album usually always sucks compared to their prior work. look at the wonder years.
I dont listen to pop punk for production value. Give me raw emotion and brilliant lyrics. If I want to listen to studio work give me all the production your heart desires. Every band grows, I can't hate too much but I'd rather listen to the upsides any day than greatest generation.
What if they keep redoing this song every album to show how they've changed. I think that'd be pretty cool.
Hello from the future
Same
hello man
damn, they changed
@@certifiedloser2112 yes
I love how they let the whole band play one of the old songs, this is sick
Still like it, the raw power of their old EP is where the goosebumps came in, unfortunately.
When lyrics truly speak the events one has been through, and be 100% spot on with it!
well what did you expect A FUCKING COMPLIMENT!
this version is so much better and more raw than the 2014 version. i can't be the only one who thinks this
I love the original the most, but yeah agreed. This is just too clean though, I like the rawness in the original. Of course I still love this version. I love all their songs lol
I love both versions of this
Am I the only person who prefers this version? I think it sounds more full and the vocals are a lot cleaner
Yeah I agree, I prefer this one too haha
I also agree!
I definitely prefer this version
true
I remembered hearing this 6 years ago and here I am now a 6 year fan of this Band.
My god this song is such a piece of artwork. The lyrics are just amazing. I'm so glad I found this band
i remember when i first heard this when it came out. absolutely blew me away and still makes m feel like that now.
aw sweet, just pre ordered the album on Banquet Records. Can't wait for it!
A year ago my gf broke up with me and date my best friend lol, i never felt the lyric of any music but neck deep, it was like they were singing what i was felling or felt, these guy's music helped me a lot to be better and go ahead.
This sounds great guys, their sound is just changing but they're still as great as ever.
I think that this version lacks the energy it brings on the EP, but I like it when I'm in a mood to just chill. I like that they did it both ways.
Best version off what did you expect
I hate these hateful comments. I personally love this version, it's fuller. I find people having the same arguments regarding the raw version of Mt. Diablo, and the Under Soil And Dirt version. But overall it is pointless, just love the music and keep the good vibes going.
Both versions are pretty good. I can't get enough of this album!
This album is still good though, just different.
haha this aged well
Really love this version! It's much heavier!
come on guys, this version is waaayyy better.
there is a lot more instrumental work going on in this one. this song, as someone else said, sounds way more full than the previous version.
from a musicians standpoint, this is a great improvement.
and personally i like how the mixing for the vocals was done on this version... i think the vocals previously stood out too much. and im really liking how they toned it down a note or two.

I LOVE NECK DEEP!!! I love this version better than the original tbh! It's just so good!
all 5 of them are actual gods
I love both versions.
They're both so good but this version has a little somethin' that I like a bit more than the original☺️
Liza Nichols The reason why I like this version better its because it sounds more fuller in terms of how it was produced and mixed at the studio, not only that the vocals are cleaner and especially the drums are much more polished in my opinion :)
There's something to like in both really. I like this one for the better production and its overall more polished, while the original is more raw and aggressive.
it's the bass
“I won’t be in sight, when you realise
That I might just have been a more stable support
To the life that you’ll build when he cuts himself short”
I still really like this one and love this album as a whole, but this version of the song doesn't make me want to break shit and sing as loud as I can, though its sound does fit in with the rest of the album.
i love this because it fits them more but in my opinion, the rain in july version runs rings around this
"You've got some nerve thinking we can be friends, well what did you expect a fucking compliment?"
I love both versions for different reasons, but the original got me hooked on them!
all in all it makes me feel better about dating after someone hurt me.
i heard this live just a month ago i miss them so much
I prefer this version to the Rain In July one, it isn't as raw but it sounds way more full and I think it's mixed a lot better
this is so much better!! ahhhg
That's how neck deep born
Yes!
I think this sounds more professional and its a good change for them because theyre growing up because bands do that so be happy for them. I think this sounds rad as fuck.
neck deep first song🥰
I like the raw sound better, but this is still beyond excellent.
a MASSIVE improvement on rain in july. it's almost a totally different song
This version is cleaner than the original, but I still like both of them.
i actually like this version more than the original tbh
Same! I find that this version sounds a lot cleaner and whatnot
what actually is the difference between the two versions.
I love neck deep tho!
The Production! dxP
xboxingian The way the vocals are sung (rain in july is much more energy into the singing and more powerful while this version has the vocals more laid back), the pitch is also different instrumentally and vocally, if you tried to play these songs over eachother at the same time it would sound very bad. This album is no where near as good as the EPs, I think this really proves it
I just like the original better. More raw, more emotional to me.
sad song :( but GREAT!
I like this version a lot better
I love this ..and the original!
original was better in my opinion. Still dig it though
This version is alot better in my opinion.
Take all I am
Tear me into pieces
Deconstruct my bones and tell me you still don't know who I am
You've got some nerve thinking we could be friends
Well what did you expect? A fucking compliment?
Uhm, out of all honesty I like the original version better. But I still like the song all in all. It's the intensity of the original that has me.
Mushroomhead profile pic! :)
Sorry boys, I prefer the EP version. It's one of my faves.
I like this version better. Plus, with cleaner voice it could possibly get in them a broader audience
Sounds just like Story So Far
HOLY FUCK NO NOT AT ALL HAHAHAHAHAH
Neck Deep and The Story So far do not at all sound the same. You calm down, son.
Justin Keys I totally agree with you and I have this argument with people all the damn time. They have similarities, obviously when they produce the same genre of music but there are obvious differences between their music
I prefer the Rain in July version, but this version, from a neutral standpoint, is much better,
Prefer this one to the one on RIJ
Not sure which version I prefer; the production on this is far better but it lacks some of the raw aggression of the EP track and the vocals could be a little higher in the mix..
What is This Song about please? I m french and I really love This song !!!
it's about a girl who cheated on him, (maybe not Ben in general) but it's about forgetting everything they shared in the past and how's he's basically not getting over it. that's most of the first part. then it's mostly like him saying go ahead and destroy me cause he just doesn't stand to deal what happened.
I understand they changed the style of this song to fit in with the album, but i still do like the original one better.
The Rain In July version was much better.
no no no no no, you can't just do this.
I think this one is mire better but over all their a bad ass band
I like this version but prefer the Rain in July version so much more. I'm not sure I felt there was more raw passion in the older version, the beginning didn't give me the "jump off the walls" feel and the bridge didn't hold the impact there was in the previous version. Still a good song though, I just think the earlier version of this song was better
I feel like he uses the same vocal melody for a lot of their songs
*NECK DEEP - WHAT DID YOU EXPECT, SPORTIFLOP?*
supposed to be "the best I can without you here"
Tame as fuck now.
This was posted ten years ago...🥲
The original is so much better
I hate these hateful comments. I personally
Why does this sound like a song out of burnout?
Who hears “this is my dead baby” at the beginning?
This is a good version, but I much preferred the original
Is this a different version? I like the other one.
2014 version
Roarasaur Their is actually three different versions of this song
Cache Phish this is the wishful thinking version re-recorded the original is on there ep
Fucking hell, why can't they keep it simple lol? The one I like is the really bass heavy one.
Guess what? I'm fine
I think rain in july's version is better but this is okay
mosing a iki
shweps
Listeners in 2017??
leixões
RIJ version was so much better than this version, I can't help that vocals are produced and engineered badly, they just don't sit on top on the mix like they should, slightly disappointing.
lagu beruri marantika
second :(
Sigh.
No offence to hopeless but every time a band signs to them their following album usually always sucks compared to their prior work. look at the wonder years.
Polished to crap
I dont listen to pop punk for production value. Give me raw emotion and brilliant lyrics. If I want to listen to studio work give me all the production your heart desires. Every band grows, I can't hate too much but I'd rather listen to the upsides any day than greatest generation.
And I would rather listen to Cheshire cat and dude ranch than take off your pants
K
Andrew Tuma deep shit.
The original is sooooo much better than this
don't like this version at all.
wow this is a butchered remix. took everything that made the original so perfect and fucked it up
wow this is garbage compared to the Rain In July version
"You went and fucked this up 'cuz you couldn't keep your legs shut" Woah, sexist! Cancel this band!
👾 #14072021 (9AM GMT+7)
Yes!
I think this one is mire better but over all their a bad ass band
