Revisiting an Old Friend Crawford Priory Scotland

Crawford Priory is a fascinating ruined estate house located in Fife, Scotland, near the villages of Pitlessie and Springfield, and about 3 miles southwest of Cupar. Originally built as Crawford Lodge in 1758 by the 21st Earl of Crawford, it was later expanded and redesigned in a Gothic Revival style by Lady Mary Lindsay Crawford in the early 19th century.
The priory is known for its grand architecture, featuring designs by notable architects such as David Hamilton and James Gillespie Graham1. Despite its grandeur, the property was abandoned in 1968 due to maintenance difficulties. Today, it stands as a Category B listed building, admired for its historical and architectural significance.
