    Best strat I've ever played. I have been kicking myself for years for not buying it. Why does Fender not understand how amazing hardtails are? Every year I check their new models and am always disappointed by all the springy boys.

    I actually wrote a song on my 2009 album (loosely based on the life of my --at-the-time--band mate , E-dittles) called "I like Cars 🚗 + Electric guitars 🎸"
    Just thought your channel was pretty dope.
    PS-
    I bought this guitar, on eBay used for about 1100.
    Sold it for somewhere between 18 and 20.
    Needed money for my heroin habit.
    Very very sad.
    Was my favorite guitar at the time
    (I had 18 total)
    Eventually , I would find a better playing guitar, and at an incredibly low price point.
    It was the beige and gold j mascis strat... well it's a squier... and I think it s a jazzmaster clone?
    I can't remember.
    All I know is that in the '90s he had this beautiful sparkly purple metallic fender costume J mask is and I never saw one of those cheaper than 6 grand but his signature squire that came out I had a you know tremolo whammy bar it was one of the nicest sounding I mean this guitar played better than my $2,000 shot not better than the Billy Corgan signature but it played better than both of my stratocasters and my Fender telecaster.
    And
    Get this
    The jay mascis squier was only retailing for 349.99
    Yep.
    I bought it new at guitar center
    Didn't even bother to play it.
    Just brought it home straight out of the box
    And it played circles around my axes that cost 5x as much.
    So as much as I did absolutely love my BC Fender Strat
    If you have not yet played the gym askes squire do yourself a favor and....

      Appreciate the comment my man. Is your song on YT or anywhere? I haven't had a chance to try one of the JM Jazzmasters but I am on the lookout. The tone definitely doesn’t fit the Mellon Collie era. I use my BC Strat specifically for playing Zeitgeist era songs like United States of America and Superchrist.
    I have a Corgan matching blue vintage ‘75 hardtail with Lace Sensors going through a JMP-1 and Mesa Boogie Strategy 500 for when I play Mellon Collie era songs. Nothing else comes close enough for me. When I play along to songs like TAFH with Logic Pro X, I can’t even hear my guitar because the tone is so spot on, it just disappears. But then I like to listen back without the artist song and laugh at how legit it sounds.
    I know Corgan changed out his Laces Sensors from his Blue ‘74 hardtail for his BC Dimarzio’s, but I don’t want that new tone for playing their earlier songs. That’s why I have a BC Strat for that.

    • @carsandguitars
      @carsandguitars  4 месяца назад +1

      Ive been looking for a set of the red/blue/silver lace sensors to do a Mellon Collie build, is there that much of a difference between those and the BC dimarzios?

    • @willcorg1979
      @willcorg1979 4 месяца назад

      @@carsandguitars yeah, actually if I use the BC Strat which has the BC pickups, it squeals very easily with the replica Mellon Collie rig I have. That can be a good, or bad thing depending on your preference. billy described it the best way, “it’s like “riding a storm”, you’ve got to try and control the guitar and stand in the right spot to keep it from squealing. It’s a lot of work, whereas the Lace sensors just do it naturally.
      I bought a loaded pickguard from Lace with a photo of the color scheme I wanted. The photo was zoomed in on Billy’s Strat that still said “I love my mom”, but you couldn’t see that from the photo, yet THEY STILL KNEW WHOSE GUITAR IT WAS! 😁 It’s a black pickguard, with white pickups, I have a photo of the beautiful wiring work they did and even tagged them on Twitter, with a nice reply from them. So that is for my blue ‘75 hardtail. I also have a 2002 Highway One Strat with vintage 90’s Lace Sensors, and to me they don’t sound any different from the modern ones.
      I also use the Lace with my JCM 800 that has KT88 tubes. Those tubes will stay clean at a high volume, so the Lace sensors won’t squeal very easily (if at all) like the BC pickups will. The tone of the Lace’s match the opening to Cherub Rock, Today and so many others so perfectly, especially with the blue (neck) pickup. It’s insane how perfect it sounds! If you use the Red (bridge) pickup to play the clean tones, it sounds very shrill. The blue pickup has a wonderful warm bell tone that makes me love Strats so much. I think I play the Blue pickup the most because it sounds good with Drown, or Starla, or any other SD era clean tones. You’ll be pleasantly surprised I think?

    • @willcorg1979
      @willcorg1979 4 месяца назад

      @@carsandguitars BTW, I recorded it using isolated drums and lyrics, everything else is me playing. I should’ve uploaded the version without the vocal track so you can really hear all of the guitar parts. Actually, I wish Billy would release an instrumental version of Siamese Dream. Soma is such a better song than I ever thought possible when I listened to the instrumental version from the Deluxe reissue.
