RUclips has less me here in my fall down the rabbit hole of learning how to fly fish before I buy a reel. I like dudes that can give unedited video like this. Thanks!
Thank you very much for watching! I know that rabbit hole all too well! Haha Good luck on learning how to fly fish. The channel The New Fly Fisher has got a ton of good info and so does Mad River Outfitters. Worth your time wether you are fly fishing, fly tying or just watching. What type of fish are you looking to catch?
@@KissTheFish to be honest, I have no idea. Just looking at a different technique ya know? I've been fishing with a spinning reel since I was a kid and figured that fly-fishing looked like fun.
@@suburbansurvival8239 totally! It is a lot of fun. You can catch a ton of fish fast. I fish primarily for warm water fish like bass, pickerel and panfish on the fly. Once you start it is so hard to stop because it is so much fun!
You could technically euro nymph/tight line with any rod. The thing is an 8wt is very stiff. The reason a lot of euro nymphing rods are 2wt 3wt and 4wt is how sensitive the tip of the rod is. That's not to say don't try it. I loved nymphing with a 6wt I had and just going by feel. A euro rod will give you such an extreme advantage over it though. As for stripping it slowly, I do it all the time. I do it in still water with fantastic luck. I enjoy tight lining fish with most of my rods from time to time. Try It and if it works for you, enjoy it
What is your favorite fish to fly fish for?
The one I can get to bite the hook :D
@@jscancella haha that's so true!

I suppose it's similar to swinging wet flies and then dragging them upstream.
That is a good way to think about it. You definitely maintain contact with the fly too
Could I use euro nymph on a 8 weight rod and just strip line slow or let it drift?

I may ruffle a few people's feathers by suggesting that but hey I enjoy catching fish and if it bugs them... oops haha
@@KissTheFish ok thanks I was asking because I didn’t know if the fly wouldn’t be able to be throw on a 8 weight line
@@nottgav oh I get it now! Yes you would definitely be able to throw little nymphs that size on an 8wt because you would be casting the line weight.
@@nottgav as in when you cast you use the weight of the line to cast vs the weight of the fly
