You two make me so HAPPY! PERIOD!!! I love the flower granny square afghan. It makes me want to learn to crochet someday! Have a great summer vacation traveling in the VW...
I loved seeing the colour of the sky, your house in the background, and hearing the birds chirp. It was a lovely moment when Arne saved the bumble bee. I really liked the tea towel from "The Last Homely House". The blanket is absolutely gorgeous! It's always so neat to see your works in progress, also around the house - they bring inspiration. Such a busy time for both of you, and still you managed to find the time to tape your "15 minutes" for us. Thank you so much!
I love that Arne has so many beautiful reference books for so many subjects. The bird book today, the folk costume books, etc. I love when you showcase pieces of your library!
So interesting about different rules about pets. In Ireland pets are routinely neutered and once my son was older he was quite offended on behalf of our cats and also sad because they are really very lovely cats but their genes will never be passed on now. It's really food for thought.
Good morning. What a lovely way to start the morning, with a visit outside. We have ruffled grouse here in Wisconsin, also. Right now we are watching 5 Coopers Hawks. The parents are teaching young to hunt. Your bird book is a treasure, Thank you sorry such a nice visit.
HAHA that’s so cute!! The little lady of the family needed to go to the spa. In my family when my Husband starts to drool I make him go watch TV downstairs.
I live in Canada where we do spay and neuter out cats and dogs. To be honest, I have often questioned how that practice influences their growth and development. They are not meant to be sterilized and here it’s usually around six months of age. I am glad you take such good care of your animals there. I would never judge one country’s practice because I am confident that each place has their own reasons for doing things. I saw you redoing those pretty red bricks-very nice! I agree, Kate is amazing. I watch her all the time too. Between you two and her, I have much to try and talk about to my husband. Cheers from Canada, Allison!!!
Capercaillie is pronounced Cap-er-cay-lee and the display is called a 'lek' and is spectacular! I hope you get to see it Arne - the habitat you mention is exactly where these birds live! well done you! xxx EDIT! oh! you did it again! you didn't ring the little bell to warn me! ha ha! You guys are the best! xxxxx
I wish I lived in Norway in the Mountains. I knit in North Wales and watch you all the time and I also love watching The Last Homely House. You are the best company ever. Thank you , Jana
I am making a hat from mohair acrylic yarn. It is very hot here. I thank Arne and Carlo for giving me encouragement and specific techniques. My knitting has progressed.
Thank you again for such a nice visit and lots of information. I enjoy my visits with you. I hope you enjoy it as much as all your fans do. Keep smiling and enjoy your day!
It’s always a pleasure to sit and knit with you both. I also have a variety of hand hobbies that I do and you’re steady flow of of your projects encourages me to finish a lot of my projects thank you both
I love watching you guys! when you told Arne he could move over toward you the look on his face was priceless. Snuggling is always nice, sun or no sun! Be well and don't work too hard! Much luve!
You looking after your dogs in a great way its lovely yes we all do live different its not a problem your dogs have fresh air and fun and love. love the video love and hugs to you both and the dogs.
I haven't heard the word hankie since my grandma died in the 80s.Bless you Carlos..Again the same weather ,in the 70s .love you guys, and Kate too..👍❣from Milwaukee.
Thank you as always! Beautiful garden ! June is very popular for birthday 🍰 my friend on 23rd and my sister 25th ! So I’ll be going to her garden with bottle champagne and cake! Very much like Arne! So now I’m off to sit and knit in my conservatory socks! Hugs & xx 😘🍾🥂
I love how you are much more relaxed now Carlos and how Arne's english is coming along. Your place is gorgeous! I would love to visit Norway someday. I can't to see pictures from the shoot and to see what "thing" you are working on. So mysterious. 😉 I love the both of you, the respect you show each other, the chemistry, and all of the beautiful items you show us. The blanket is beautiful! Y'all are my favorite and I look forward to your videos every week! ❤️
I purchased one of Kate’s tea towel and the first thing I thought was to embroider it, too. It’s so sweet. Looking forward to Arne’s birthday celebration. 🎂🥂🥳
It brings SO MUCH JOY and smiles to get to watch and listen to you both, my day is so great with you in it! Carlos, I am a Virgo and I get you :-) What made me tune in today was mention of Capercaillie and thinking you might have meant the Celtic band from the 1990s. Greetings from Tucson, Arizona.
Hello Boys Another fun video , and a backdrop that is really pretty, thank you. I love Geraniums especially the Hardy Geraniums, I have filled my garden with these beautiful plants and the colours are so beautiful, in fact I went to the garden centre last week and got two more. I agree with you Arne they do make a wonderful mound of colour and they are so easy to keep. I am in the process of turning a section of my garden into a Wild Flower Meadow so watch this space. Take care and keep safe , look forward to next time. 👵 xx
Just able to catch this weeks show. Wonderful. It’s just like sitting down with a good friends. Can’t wait to see your home renovations and all the garden work. Thank You Arne and Carlos for taking time to chat with us while you have so much going on in your life.
I love the crocheted blanket!! Also, it's wonderful to see how healthy and animated Carlos has become! Arne, too seems even happier than usual. Best, Sara
Awesome FUN as ever while knitting a scarf-thank you for all your news and organization, May all go well at The House, and it’s early, but still, have a great holiday coming up! ThankYouThankYou!
I loved Arne saving the Bumblebee. You both have such kind spirits and are a pleasure to watch. Please give Helmer pet pets. Thank you both for the wonderful visit
I really enjoyed the chat. Life is a bit stressful at the moment, so to sit and knit for a bit with you guys is a tonic. I love the way you recycle everything. The geranium may have been Johnson’s Blue … and Carlos, Prince Charles is asking people to volunteer to weed the gardens at Sandringham House, if you want to fulfil that dream of being a royal gardener. 😘
If your cuff spins on your arm, try moving the button over a bit to make it smaller. ... If it's french cuffs (where a piece of jewelry holds the cuff closed, we call them cuff links)... Sometimes the links between the cuff links can be made smaller/shorter, so it holds the cuff tighter to your arm. But do a test with buttons and a piece of yarn to make test cuff links before taking you expensive links to the jewler for adjustments. 💖🌞🌵😷
Love your summer garden setting, Kate is the best (so creative), and the cooler, well its perfect. My sweetie would like that too. Must look for one for his birthday.
In the Pacific Northwest when hiking in the forests and mountains we often hear the "whoompf whoompf" of the Ruffed Grouse. Quite secretive and exciting to see!
The female bird reminds me of our grouse/partridge. I've seen the Tiur on discovery type channels that were showing how various birds have unusual sounds and elaborate displays. What a fun find...the yarn sample book. I'm sure Arne will enjoy embellishing the tea towel but I'm sure it's also fine as is. That's a very pretty knit square. It for sure could be used a lot of different ways. Beetle bag, another fun find.
My favourite time distortion of the week!! Poor Freya and Helmer dribbling 😂😂 I hope she enjoys her holidays and Helmer is certainly loving the attention. I really love that knitted cushion/blanket that Arne is working on, I'd love to knit it for the bottom of the bed.
If wool is scratchy and itchy, use hair conditioner (cream rinse) which has lanolin in it. Fill a basin with water, add the conditioner and soak the wool.piece for a few hours. Rinse and lay out to dry. Wool.is hair, so the hair conditioner softens the wool for more comfort. This comment is referring to the wool blanket you showed a few episodes ago. Please let me know if you use it and like the results.
While hiking in the mountains i love hearing the wump-wump-wump calls of blue grouse, our native species on Vancouver Island. They can drum all day sometimes! 🥁 I hope you get to see more grouse, Arne! :)
Same here in USA with weather! Lived in Virginia, Cool then hot but you never know living in Virginia!🌦💭😊👍 Watch you guys and Kate, Love watching both make my week. Thank you love learning about other Countries, Have a Blessed week. Oh loved your bread recipe, Thanks again💖
I enjoyed this episode. I like hearing the birds in the background. The crocheted blanket is turning out to be so beautiful. I might just have to get this pattern. There is also another crocheted blanket pattern that caught my eye. I might have to choose or maybe I will make scarves from both patterns. TBD. It’s great that you will be able to have a summer holiday this year. Enjoy! 🧶🧶🧶
My father had this book and growing up I often spent many hours looking through the pictures and reading about all the beautiful birds. This book made me very knowledgeable about many bird species and migration patterns.
Wow, that's a beautiful book of birds you found! And the grouse...we have the ruffed grouse in northern Ontario (among others) that I've seen doing his mating dance and drumming to impress a hen that's usually up in a tree nearby. It's really something to watch. When I go birding, I am all in black because I'm convinced it makes me invisible to the birds. It may sound odd but birding is the thing I do that makes me feel the most free. I am disabled and mostly bird from my van but during that time, I don't feel the pain and I'm happy and I guess light is the right word. Thank you for sharing the birds in today's podcast.
Lovely video. You are both so happy and have such a beautiful home and inspiring surroundings - all of your hard work pays off!! Wait so eagerly for every wednesday podcast to hear and see about your latest adventures! That UFO is stunning.
Hello you two! You both are very entertaining! Yes. Our laws are different and it's because we have a bunch of ninkampoops that can't be trusted to make sure our pets don't end up having litter after litter. As it is, too many back yard breeders to make money are not qualified to have healthy purebred. We have a huge problem in our country dealing with unwanted dogs, cats and horses. This is not to say we are all like this. I applaud Norway's citizens taking care of their pets. I look forward to the finished projects to your home. You both are just lovable ❤!
Thanks for filling us in on cultural mores in Norway regarding dogs. I love learning the patterns new to me from other countries; it makes my world so much larger!
Arne you are so lucky to see a Capercaillie. We have them here in Scotland but they are quite elusive. Hope you see them lek as it is spectacular. They are big birds. loved this evenings chat.
We reused bricks from a neighbor. Hammering the old cement from the edges was my job. My husband laid them on a path to his raised garden beds. It is so much more enjoyable getting to the garden now.
What a treat to sit for a bit and listen to this podcast. I was late to the talk this week as I was at the beach where my curly hair was a fluffy bush! Your podcasts always remind me of something in my own life. When I was very young, I made my new husband a few silk shirt. I had to make the buttonholes by hand, and when the shirt was finished, I realized I had made the sleeve buttonholes on the same side of each sleeve instead of mirroring them. I was so disappointed, but there was no changing them so it had to be worn like that! I can hardly wait to see more of your garden. I too have a Geranium flower bed this year. He careful with the sun on your handsome faces...
Known as a wood grouse here in Canada. You guys are great. And you know you can never wear out a standard poodle right. Ours is non-stop and 6 years old.
Pheasants and Grouse - Cool!!! And yes they love to play (at certain time :)) 1st bird: Great Bird ( Tetrao urogallus ) is a species of forest chicken (Tetraonini) in the pheasant family (Phasianidae), which is one of several families in the order of chicken birds (Galliformes). The male is called tiur , the female is char and the kids are chickens . Tiur is to some extent also used as a general description of the species, regardless of gender. . 2nd bird: The black grouse, northern black grouse, Eurasian black grouse, blackgame, or blackcock (Lyrurus tetrix),[4] is a large game bird in the grouse family. It is a sedentary species, spanning across the Palearctic in moorland and steppe habitat when breeding, often near wooded areas. They will spend the winter perched in dense forests, feeding almost exclusively on the needles of conifers. The black grouse is one of 2 species of grouse in the genus Lyrurus, the other being the lesser-known Caucasian grouse. I can just see Arne waiting to see them - good luck and enjoy. It is awesome that you both take the time to appreciate things like that! Awesome "15 minute" podcast!!
Prices are higher in states too. Cannot purchase a bicycle for adults or purchase a car; both difficult! But the odd thing is real estate… it’s booming in many areas! Places still close early because businesses don’t get applications for job postings! I have my stash of yarn and fabric, so I’m happy:)
Yes Arne, I’ve been up at 4, trip down gravel road by truck up a hill round bend....then there they were! Sage grouse with males making the MUSIC! We watched for an hour near Malhieur field station in Oregon. If you come to Oregon bird watching opportunities abound!
LOL, I too am a virgo (a double virgo) so I get it about picking out leaves from the gravel. I moved to a new house where the landscape is all stones (yuck!) so I have slowly been taking up the stones and replacing them with plants. One area was full of straw that the chickens pushed into the gravel so I'm separating the stones from the debris, giving the stones to a neighbor and using the debris and small gravel for drainage on the bottom of pots. The whole process seems picky but I'm a Virgo and that's what we do. Our lumber (in the U.S.) has gone up 300% and when you see a load of lumber we joke about they must of traded in their Corvette (sports car) for it.
Carlos & Arne so inspired by your yard and all of the times you have talked about being outside. I made an area outside for my husband and I to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Or even just to read. Looking forward to putting in plants and for decoration on the wall. We have a little back patio and its perfect or time together outside. Thank you for sharing you!
I had a busy week, so I’m just catching up with you guys! I hope Freja enjoys her “vacation”. 🤗 I loved hearing the birds during your podcast. It looks so serene there! I was watching during a rain storm, so I appreciated the sunshine! And… so excited for the live chat coming up!
When you go visit Kate you could bring her the" cat embroidery" as a gift! I guess she would appreciate and love it because she loves her cats so much ! ^^
You two make me so HAPPY! PERIOD!!! I love the flower granny square afghan. It makes me want to learn to crochet someday! Have a great summer vacation traveling in the VW...
It is clear how much you love your dogs and how well you take care of them. Pay no attention to the haters. They are of no consequence.
Let us please call this Freya's Moon Cycle.
Love to you all.
Bless you dear knit/crochet friends.

Helmer is not bored, he just does not understand, that you can not figure out, what he wants hidden behind your backs!! Arne, you got it!!
Best 15 minutes of the week! You guys are the best! So glad you talked about Kate. She is a real joy.
Thank you Sonya!
This is so nice, I really enjoy Kate also.
Arne’s hair is fab. It’s not frizzy, it’s wind blown. Love you guys!

I love Geraniums especially the Hardy Geraniums, I have filled my garden with these beautiful plants and the colours are so beautiful, in fact I went to the garden centre last week and got two more.
The real estate boom is here in Norway as well, strange times.
❤️😊you are right no one should judge there are different things for different countries
Thank you for the garden episode!
You shouldn’t have to explain. Your country is handling animal health extremely well.
No, no! It was very interesting!
So many things to look forward to. Celebrating birthdays will be fun! Fall, new patterns, bunads, surprises and adventures in the beetle!
A summer full of adventures!
Norway sounds amazing.
Interesting to know your laws. Thx for sharing.
We had the same bird book for years. Really looking forward to the sweater tutorials 😄
Yyboth again for an enjoyable evening ❤️
When you go visit Kate you could bring her the" cat embroidery" as a gift! I guess she would appreciate and love it because she loves her cats so much ! ^^
