Aloha O'e Aunty Teresa Bright. Your songs will now live on forever. You may not be here physically but you live on through your music. Aloha Pumehana❤😢
We had a hula concert last Saturday at our school, our keiki did a number and omg, it was emotional. Everyone was cheeehooo and whistling. Her voice is so beautiful.
Over several years, I've heard different versions of this song, but none - and I do mean NONE compare to Teresa's beautiful voice. Such a beautiful song..... thanks Teresa.
She does have a voice of an angel. We grew up and wen to school with her. My older sister was her classmate. Was always nice to hear her voice when we fly home to the islands.
Amazing as to Hawaii's history of legendary stories being told and handed down to our Hawaiian people. Our kupuna and their na kupuna have also handed down stories to share with their children and mo'opuna. Hawaiian legends are endless and we are blessed to to be able to hear and read their stories. Our Hawaiian People - past and present - are very akamai. As one very appreciative of my Hawaiian heritage, I am happy that I, my family and friends live in Hawaii-very grateful and blessed. Can you imagine what life would be, had we lived elsewhere with all the pilikia happening around us. Aloha and Mahalo!

I fell in love with this song a couple of months ago when a friend of my wife gave her a hula CD. Almost every morning when I go to work, I listen to this song over and over and over. I love Teresa's voice, soft, sweet and soothing.
Teresa, this is my favorite of all your songs. My deepest codolences to you and your Ohana at the passing of your mother, Auntie Carol. May she rest in peace.
Teresa you always sang the best! You one year younger than me. But when I took my girl too Kauai I always played your music like hula heaven. Love you oogz from makaha
Today I was told by my guardian angel that a diety was calling out to me, Her name is Poli'ahu. I also live in Hawaii. Born and raised. But this song, I grew up adoring it. I'm planning on making an alter for Poli'ahu soon. Yes. The Goddess of Snow.
For all of you that don't know, the composer of this song is my cousin, kumu hula Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett. The performers are also my ohana(family), Teresa Bright(female vocals/cousin) and Del Beazley(male vocals/brother-in-law). And yes, the lyrics are wrong, but mahalo for trying.
I discovered this vid by accident--I've been listening Hawaiian for three years since first time to island. So much mahalo for posting! Happy to find another awesome talented Hawaiian/or Polynesian artist.
Poli'ahu Tears of Poliahu in pain from love saddened by the departure of Aiwohi, the demi god cold is the sacred dew of Mauna Kea having no one to love and to make warm fond recollections of love of earlier times refresh the water of Nohi and my sadness Your love is a lei for my body close to my breast for ever REFRAIN: come back (come back) my darling come back (come back)
The story behind this song about Polihua is so sad. I can really relate to her. I've had an experience that is very close to her situation. I miss him so much and I want him to E Ho I Mai
Wai maka o Poliahu I ka `eha a ke aloha Kaumaha i ka ha`alele O Aiwohi kupua Anuanu ka `iu kêhau O Mauna Kea A`ohe ana ipo aloha E ho`o pumehana Kau mai ka hali`a aloha O ka wa mamua Puolu ka wai o Nohi Ku`u mehameha He lei ko aloha No ku`u kino Pili poli hemo`ole No na kau akau Hui: E ho`i mai (e ho`i mai) E ku`u ipo E ho`i mai (e ho`i mai) E pili kâua E ho`i mai (e ho`i mai `oe) E ho`i mai `oe e, e E ho`i mai `oe Tears of the snow goddess And the pains of love Sadden by separation Of Aiwohi, the demi-god Cold the sacred dew Of Mauna Kea And no one to love And to warm To enact memories of love Of times gone by Refresh the water of Nohi And my loneliness Your wreath of love For my body And bosom closed tied Put in place forever Chorus: Come back to me My sweetheart Come back to me As we embrace Come back to me Come back to me Come back to me
If you used the expression "Voice of an Angel", this is the song it would bring to mind. I think (guessing) that's Manu Boyd singing behind her. It chokes me up a little every time I hear it. Not only is the singing just gorgeous, you know that she KNOWS what the words are saying. There are other (none quite so) pretty versions on RUclips, but they seem to merely mimic her version without really knowing what the lyrics mean... "Come to me that we may Pili".
Food for my Soul!!!! Mahalo nui loa!!! I'm not blessed to know the Hawaiian language, so would you mind to add the lyrics of this beautiful song? Aloha!
