      Really enjoy your channel. Mine is the Fiat Panda with the old map in the window! Used to have a '56 Standard 10 Super, so nice to see a bit of love for Standards on the channell too. Keep up the good work!

    I. Thankyou for your kind words about my pink and grey 1959 vauxhall cresta pa. It was allegedly destined for the scrap yard back in 2012 but was rescued and restored by the previous owner. I purchased it prior to covid and spent the covid years completing it to the condition it is today. Great video thankyou.

    Thank you for giving my 1934 Standard ten a bit of the lime light. Its proved to be a very reliable little car. I drove 200 miles in it to attend the show. Its a shame there were only 5 pre 1939 cars, but great to see such a variety.

      I'm a big fan of pre-war cars too (and Standards) so will always feature them when I can, more the merrier!

    Thanks for covering the Scimitars. You were right on all fronts. The earthing issues are mostly negated as it sits on a sturdy steel chassis. I've had the yellow one since 2009 (at age 20, my friends thought I was nuts). It was used for commuting every day for years, and is still used for business quite regularly. It had a tasteful upgrade a few years ago when the engine was rebuilt as bizarrely it was cheaper than standard so it sits on the "sporty but still useable" point of the spectrum.

      Cool, I'm a big fan of the classic 900Ts, I was sorely tempted by the remains of a B-reg silver/grey 16S 3 or 4 years ago, mouldering outside a local garage. Every panel on it was toast sadly, but I wouldn't mind one some day. There is a 5dr 900T in red sat on a driveway not a million miles away from here, I'm doing my best to not knock on the owner's door. FYI dad had one of the first 900Ts, a LHD '79 5dr, this back in the early/mid 1980s. Thanks for subbing :)

    Hi 👋 The Citroen cars were flying the French flag there. Alot of CV2s. I go regularly to a cafe here for breakfast. And in the shopping carpark near the cafe was a lovely old Citroen traction. So i had my phone with me to record it. Very nice condition too. Such a good mix of different types of cars there on show , the Skoda car are rare to see nowadays, they were assembled here in NZ in the 1960s / 70s. The police drive the new model Skodas now. Do the police use Skodas there where you are ? I like the old cars that i remember on the road when i was young and their sparkling chrome features. Thanks for your video Richard.

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  Месяц назад

      Yes lots of Citroens of all flavours, I'm not really sure what the Police now use over here, probably something German I expect

    Thanks RIchard for another encylopeadic display by the master. Do you dream of cars? My wife used to have a Daf 44 which I attempted to service myself. Interestingly the engine had no oil filter, so regular oil changes (every 3 months) were the order of the day. Despite using top quality oil of the time including newly introduced expensive synthetic, the engine started to emit vast quantities of blue smoke, so not wishing to attempt providence, I opted for a car with an oil filter. Keep rockin'

    I noted and agreed wholeheartedly about the V70 turning circle, or lack of it, I ran one for 18 years and 371,000 miles until rust caught up with it. A colleagues V70 cross country FWD had a much better turning circle. Your videos and also Harley's provide a lot of great viewing, keep it up.

    What a fun gathering! So many different and unusual cars that aren't normally at the "regular meets". I was becoming disappointed about not seeing a Renault 12 considering all the Citroens and Peugeots when suddenly there it was behind 2 massive Cibie Super Oscars that are probably worth more than the whole car. It was a rather rusty green? color, but it was there. The 1974 I owned tried to be a reliable car, but being a transition year for unleaded gas and EPA smog pumps in the US the exhaust valves burned on a regular basis. When the distributor fell apart hundreds of miles from home and no parts supply it was over. It was a very comfortable car though.

    The Peugeot @ 10.00 is a Hoggar Escapade! Made in South America (Brazil?). It was never sold here and the one in the video is believed to be the only one in the UK. (Hope that's all correct ... I was intrigued and looked it up.) Great video, as ever, Rick. Many thanks. John Pinfold, Cheltenham, UK.

    Can there be such a thing as too many cars at a show?? Like when i went to the louvre years ago and i spent a bit of time looking at this and that in different halls, but after so long I'm just storming past priceless art after priceless art hardly giving them a second glance.

    • @oldclassiccarUK

    Another great video ,I have just had my Viva HA rally car restored,WOW Evan though I s ay it myself you have probably never seen a better one ,a hard life must have agreed with it , virtually no rust ,Seem to remember many rusted away while people drove them. anyway I have 2 originalMOT,s with the bills £2.10p including VAT You show the Maxda with 4 wheel steering, a friend of mine had a garage and he had one in there . I asked how his customer got on with 4 wheel steering . His answer Timy most of my customers struggle with 2 wheel steering! and I won't tell you about my experience with 2 door Cavalier.

    Thanks for the in depth coverage Rick. The PA Vauxhall with the 3 piece window was the only model to have those flutes in the roof, they were deleted from the PAY on. Question: do you have a handbook for your Renault 4CV?

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  Месяц назад

      Yes I'd never noticed the flutes on the roof before, a neat touch, I think I have a handbook for the Renault 750 yes (that's what the UK built cars were called), whether it has the same info as the French 4CV handbook I'm not sure?

    Have you any idea what your lad is going to get as a first car? I'd suggest a panda 169 07-2012 model, cheap to run and handy to learn in due to it's boxy design. Fun to drive aswell. I am a fiat fan as you may have guessed 😊👍🇮🇪

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  Месяц назад +1

      It'll be something with a tiny engine, cheap to buy and importantly cheap to insure! Maybe an Aygo, they have a good reputation by all accounts and are 1-litre only. Also cheap/free VED.

    • @terryatkinson899
      @terryatkinson899 Месяц назад +1

      @oldclassiccarUK watch out for water leaks into the cabin, leak from quite a few places, my friend had 2 of them from brand new and the dealer couldn't fix them.....
      Panda would be a cheaper car and the engines are non interference so if anything were to happen to the tb it's a simple fix. A grown up car in a small package 🤗
      My daughter has one as a first car and insurance is cheap cos they don't attract the hooligans and ins companies know that.

    Richard . This reminded me of how ugly many of the '80's cars were! I think the wing grilles on the DS19 were brake vents forthe inboard brakes . We both agree the triple rear window Cresta was a wonderful period car. "These boots were made for walking" 😊

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  Месяц назад

      My overriding memory of cars in the 80s was that they were, visually, often just a bit dull and plasticky. The notable rarity of so many makes and models now makes them interesting as curiosities to me, I guess that happens with every generation of car and car spotter. Thanks for watching.
