What a wonderful player you are David. I'm an old country boy from South Carolina and you've definitely got it going on with the steel. I'd love to hear your take on some Waylon Jennings/Ralph Mooney stuff, I bet you'd ace it no problem. Hope all is well with you and thanks so much for the great music you've put on RUclips!
One of David's most innate gift from Jesus is: He NEVER paints his self in a corner. For there is always one more note if he needs it. Indeed yes. Praise Jesus for giving this very kind man, talents that few have ever had. Of course there are other talents than playing the steel guitar. And every one has talents. They are just not all the same. They don't make music like this anymore and its a crying shame. Because this instrumental alone makes my heart hurt and my eyes wanna cry. The pure emotion is insane in this mans execution of this song. Not to even mention the pure pain and agony it takes to write such a song. Thank you so much.
As a former songwriter, I can tell you first-hand that it takes a lot of pain and anguish for someone to write a song. Songs are based on one's feelings be they happy or sad. I'd say that almost anyone can write a poem-- which is what a song would be minus the music. And there's where the musician comes in. That person has the knack of mating both words and music together and make it all sound seamless. It's a gift that very few people receive and it's nice to hear when someone listens to and appreciates your work. Yes Alex, songwriting is an artform when one person does it. Today, however, hardly anyone writes a song themselves. Now, it's done by a roomful of people and the basic feelings are gone. Modern songs are just empty images of what music used to be.
