  • This is my Hoover Windtunnel Deluxe upright vacuum (from 1999), model U5465-900, that I bought from a local seller on Facebook Marketplace. I've always wanted a version of the Windtunnel that has the same shape hood cover as the bagless twin chamber models had later on, I find it very unique on a bagged version since they didn't do it for very long. I do have another Windtunnel Deluxe ( • Hoover Windtunnel Delu... ), which looks a bit more like a Windtunnel Supreme ( • Hoover Windtunnel Supr... ) with its design and translucent blue color, but this one has a more maroon, red color, which does look good and feels a bit higher end compared to the other Deluxe. This came with all of its attachments, including the extra hose, owner's manual, filters, bags, and belts, so this was definitely cared for and used quite a bit back then. The one thing I like about this compared to the Tempo and lower end Windtunnel's that come with a fixed plastic hose, this one has a flexible hose which has a much better reach. I did have to swap brush rolls from my blue Deluxe since the original had very worn bristles, and although this is not a new brush roll, it is good condition and grooms the carpet very well, and much better than the original. This does feature an embedded dirt finder which tells the operator when the carpets are clean or dirty and tells them to focus more in that one spot. It features a 12 amp motor with clean air design and takes Hoover Type Y bags (this example is running a HEPA bag for increased filtration). The suction is amazing, airflow is great (even for a bypass designed vacuum), and the agitation is great. My complaints about this machine is how inaccurate the embedded dirt finder can be sometimes (which frankly that feature is quite a gimmick just to appeal to buyers), also how short the hose is even for being a flexible hose, and how the cord gets frayed and torn very easily. Overall, I like this vacuum and is certainly better than anything Hoover makes today.
