Beauty. The viper is one knife that I will ALWAYS prefer the Tidioute versions. The nail nick & drawn swedge is so much better than the cut swedge. It's way more pinchable. I'm partial to the black plum from 2020, but they're all amazing.
Bladeforums, Reddit, Whatnot, tons of FB groups - they are quite accessible and can be found for good deals. Ebay tends to inflate prices on some of the nicer pieces, but there are still deals to be had.
What really strikes me about this video is that not only does it showcase one of the best Vipers ever made (facts!), but it also articulates perfectly what it means to be in love with traditional knives in general. This right here --> "I love my wharncliffes, I love my patina, I love my jigged bone, slip joints, walk and talk, sharpness, nail nicks, brass..." YESSSS!!! You really encapsulate the way a great traditional knife makes you FEEL, you know? It's all those things you mention...and how they all come together to make an Old World piece of functional art in your pocket. Like, it's not always about the type of steel, the performance, the STATS of a knife...but the way it makes you smile when you look at it haha!! I slept on that Stonewash Blue Natural Bone Viper too...coulda, woulda, shoulda bought it but didn't cause I already had a few...total FAIL lol! 🤦♂. Like you say, it's got ALL the stuff! There's just something about that Tidioute shield in that gorgeous bone that gets the feels going man! All the details in the bone you highlighted etc. I'm gonna push back on ya a lil bit about the last few Viper runs, tho! That blue bone is my favorite newer Viper, but I really love that Purple Sage Horsecut Bone one too with the Unxld shield from 2024...and I'm a sucker for a Federal shield, so I really like the Ebony and Ironwood ones, as well.
