Actually, more precisely, this is a ride through Nanam/Ranam, just outside Chongjin. As far as I can make it out from Google maps, it starts roughly at 41.712464 N,129.677119 E and ends at 41.736555 N,129.726278 E.
Gobshite Remember, though, that book was set in the poorest part of the country in the poorest time period, so it is in no way representative of the entire country now. Plus, the man who gave the info for the prison camp chapter admitted to exaggerating (I read that book too by the way). Just something to keep in mind.
I am reading a book (Nothing to Envy) that describes Chongjin using a line from Orwell's 1984 "The only color to be found is in the propaganda posters". From this vid it looks pretty accurate.
North Korean's capital, Pyongyang, has many tall buildings, but the traffic was very good (nothing on the street) and it is different from Hanoi, or Saigon (Hochiminh City) in Vietnam (one of the communist countries), traffic jam always happen At least, in VN we have computer to use freely ^^
Hello To Everyone From California USA
Hello To Everyone From North Dakota USA
Thank You For sharing this Video
It's a shame you didn't film the trams, because Chongjin is the only city in NK outside Pyongyang to have trams. Nobody can have a footage of it.
I'm late but yes there's footage from a German guy I think

清津市と言えば日本人妻が、この街の何処かに住んでるのかなぁ、、、、、
You're relieved.

Where’s the Citadel? And the combine walls?
I'm guessing rush hour traffic isn't too bad.
GenXRanter Nope! Lucky for the people, the state solved that problem.
This town looks as depressing as I pictured it while reading "Nothing to Envy".
That book brought me here. Reading it now
How did you get inside north korea without a tour?
Bazooka Spyder he didn't. he's on a tour bus.
Not as many sleeping on the streets as in the Land of the Freak.
Just finished reading 'Nothing to Envy'. The place looks just as grim as described.

I found the only color in CHongjin to be blue on the buildings.
how the hell did you get to drive in one the worst places on earth? Chongjin is one of the worst cities in North Korea
But just look at it how clean and beautiful it is. It's a very good experience over there.
That entire country is one gigantic prison camp.
Just like the usa
@@steveboy7302What?
What a soulless place
I was born in Lithuania, panevezys. same shit here.
Have you guys noticed the lack of color there? Apart from the propaganda posters, all I can really see is grey, and occasionally some green grass...
David Cawein they really need to invest in a pressure washer.
I found the building over-colored, unlike the ones in NYC with stone-color.
