It's a shame you didn't film the trams, because Chongjin is the only city in NK outside Pyongyang to have trams. Nobody can have a footage of it.

Actually, more precisely, this is a ride through Nanam/Ranam, just outside Chongjin. As far as I can make it out from Google maps, it starts roughly at 41.712464 N,129.677119 E and ends at 41.736555 N,129.726278 E.

Just finished reading 'Nothing to Envy'. The place looks just as grim as described.

Gobshite Remember, though, that book was set in the poorest part of the country in the poorest time period, so it is in no way representative of the entire country now. Plus, the man who gave the info for the prison camp chapter admitted to exaggerating (I read that book too by the way). Just something to keep in mind.

I am reading a book (Nothing to Envy) that describes Chongjin using a line from Orwell's 1984 "The only color to be found is in the propaganda posters". From this vid it looks pretty accurate.

I found the only color in CHongjin to be blue on the buildings.

Have you guys noticed the lack of color there? Apart from the propaganda posters, all I can really see is grey, and occasionally some green grass...

I found the building over-colored, unlike the ones in NYC with stone-color.

North Korean's capital, Pyongyang, has many tall buildings, but the traffic was very good (nothing on the street) and it is different from Hanoi, or Saigon (Hochiminh City) in Vietnam (one of the communist countries), traffic jam always happen
At least, in VN we have computer to use freely ^^
