Although Selena lived a very short life, she lived a very full and complete life. I once heard that the signs you lived a complete, mindful life are if you learned to live wisely and if you loved well. I believe Selena did both. It was almost as if she was only supposed to grace us with her presence on this mortal world. R.I.P. Selena!
Alicia Coburg I kinda think of it that way too. It just shows in her personality. Alwayd just seemed genuinely happy and constantly on top of the world.
No . Girls try but there's no way one can be her double the only on is here suize only thing she can't sing.😁what I'm saying is that she is starting to look like Selena when I see I'm wow.
My, my, my. Selena was indeed a young, gorgeous woman in her prime, just like the late RnB singer Aaliyah. Though these two phenomenal women died at young ages (Selena; 23, Aaliyah; 22), they will always be immortal and relevant to me, the world, generations to come, and especially the music industry #Immortal BTW, did y'all know that Selena and Aaliyah were both born on the 16th (Aaliyah; January 16th, Selena; April 16th).
I was one day shy of being one year older than Aaliayah. I remember the exact place I was when I heard she died. I hadn't been a huge fan, but I had always loved and admired her talent. Her death blew my mind. On the flip side of that coin, I knew exactly who Selena was, had been a fan of her music for a while, and was totally smitten with her style of performance, yet I mourned the loss of both women, as if I had known them. They both were taken from this world much too soon.
Eliana Tali Um, I detect a little shade and insult in that comment you just made, but it's nice to know that you felt some type of remorse when they died.
Derrick Rector Insult? Not at all! In fact, I'm not even sure how you came about that conclusion. While I hadn't been a huge fan of Aaliayah's, I had always loved her talent and admired her. Her style of music wasn't my favorite, I'm more of a classical music girl myself, but I still appreciated the level of talent she had, and the beautiful voice. As for Selena, it makes little sense that I should have even known who she was, because I do prefer classical music, and I don't speak Spanish, but I knew exactly who she was! Likewise, I was so impressed by her voice that I made the point to listen to her music and fell in love with her style of performing. There's no insult in any of that at all - nothing but admiration and respect. Perhaps I just wasn't clear that I shouldn't have any real reason to know who Selena was prior to her murder, yet I did discover her music before hand. That said, I point blank recall exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard about Aaliayah's death, yet I don't remember that much detail about the day Selena died. Both lives were cut too short, and both left a lasting impact on how I viewed the world around me.
Eliana Tali Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to take it there. I see how much these two deceased singers meant you. #ForgiveMe I am sorry if what I had said offended you.
By the way, the only reason I knew of Selena was because my family and I set out to learn Spanish together. While we weren't too successful, we did come to love the new things we were learning about the Latin culture. I remember that every day after school we would watch the Spanish channel. I primarily recall watching Xuxa, and of course many hours of music videos, in an attempt to become more familiar with hearing Spanish spoken at home. The videos were where we gained exposure to Selena. While this technique helped us out some, we didn't stick with it long enough to retain much Spanish long-term. Still, the lasting impression was made. One of my sisters actually told us that she should have been born Latina, because the culture appealed to her so much more than any other. She lived up to her comment; she was habitually attracted to Latinos, and eventually married into a wonderful first generation Latin-American family. Again, as non-Spanish speakers, we had no reason to know anything about Selena before her death. That's not an insult, it's just the truth. We learned about her because we chose to learn something new in general. If you think my comment was insulting to Aaliayah, that's incorrect as well. With Aaliayah, we spoke the same language, so it made more sense that I should know who she was. However, I actually only heard her music when traveling with my family. My mother and siblings preferred top 100 style music, which I thought was okay, but clearly not my favorite - preferring classical and Latin guitar. The first time I heard Aaliayah's voice I instantly loved it. She had such beautiful smoothness to her voice that I don't believe I've ever really encountered since then. I liked her voice, I enjoyed listening to her music, but I didn't make a point seek out opportunities to hear her music. Her voice was amazing, and some of her songs really do represent specific moments in my life - but I just never got into her over-all style of music as much as I did Selena's. While it ultimately boils down to personal preference, I also happen to believe Selena's music appealed more because it was shared experience with my whole family. We were all experiencing something new together. That wasn't the case with Aaliayah's music, and I'm sure that had something to do with how I felt about things over all. In a long winded way, I'm just trying to say that you shouldn't judge something you don't have fully disclosed details to. And again, it's preference, and we're all entitled to personal preference. Even though I preferred one performer's music over the other, I still enjoyed both, and I still felt as though I had sustained a personal loss when they died. That was actually my whole point of my original post. Even though I didn't know either one personally, both their deaths hurt tremendously.
I remember seeing an interview of her with her husband and they were so excited about the future. They wanted babies and homes and all of it and it was all snatched away in an instant.
I never knew about Selena when she was alive (sadly) as I live in the UK. The first I knew of this formidable lady was seeing the movie 'Selena' whilst in New Zealand. This breaks my heart. She was such a fun loving person with such a great personality. What a waste 😟
I think Selena was brought on this planet to show us true LOVE. she is LOVE...her gift was LOVE. So in this world of hate, Remember LOVE and remember the beauty Selena shared with the world.
I love the reality of who Selena really was.Fun, laughing, sincere, humble, beautiful inside and out. Very rare quality's when you become a super star!!! This is why I remain a faithful fan that really misses her everyday!!
She was way beyond her time!!!!! It’s no wonder why Chris fell in love with her, her beauty, soul, heart, smile, she was the whole package of a person and entertainer. Her voice is so powerful!!!!! They’ll never be another Selena, not in this lifetime. She’ll never be replaced! 💜💜💜💜💜

My 5 year old daughter finally watched Selena for her first time and Selena is all she talks about. Thanks you Selena for still being a role model to our children. We Love You and We'll see you in the stars.
LOL "diez y cuatro" that was too cute! She was right though, they DID all know that she meant "catorce!" She seemed like such a lovely spirit - definitely my favorite female vocalist of all time. Too bad I never got to see her live (I was only 6 when she died). :( Her songs NEVER get old though!

It's strange how you can really LOVE someone whom you have never met or have little in common with. But I am one of those people who see videos of this precious young woman and sob with a broken heart. My granddaughter was trying to mimic Selena's dancing and singing at only 3 years old. Even though my granddaughter is a teenager now, we still call her "Selena", which I think is a great honor for her. I can't wait to meet her in Heaven.
sel was one off those persone that you may not know her personaly or even meet her at all but just to c her laugh and listend to her voice u knew she was so sicere, sweet and much more then just a singer she sure was a princess... RIP Selena Quintanilla siempre estaras en nuestros corazones
Im the same age as Selena and she was truly talented she could sing and speak both in english and spanish and it was beautiful !!!! she was beautiful and shes still with us everytime u play one of her songs!!!! wow do i miss her !!

Selena was like a real angel straight from heaven. When she entered a room with that contagious laugh, that beautiful smile, her warmth, her beauty, just like an angel.
I was thinking we are so lucky she did so many interviews that there are this many clips on youtube. Then I realize it's the kind of person she was which is why there is this much footage. She wasn't too busy for the cameras. Also LOL at her rocking out on the horse at 2:10.
SELENA WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGERS BEFORE SHE WAS EVEN THAT KNOWN AROUND THE WORLD, I WAS WATCHING HER PERFORM WHEN I WAS A TEEN, AND I CAN SAY SHE INFLUENCED ME GREATLY! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PERSON, I MISS HER! BUT SHE WILL NEVER EVER BE FORGOTON, MY DAUGHTER LOVES HER, AND I AM NOW 32, R.I.P SELENA
I saw the movie Selena in sixth grade in my Spanish class. I thought it was really sad. Then I saw videos of the real Selena. She was so down - to - earth, sweet, and had an infectious laugh. Her life was taken away too soon. But, she's not gone. Her music will live on forever! Te amo con todo mi corazon. R.I.P Selena Quintanilla Perez (P.S. Diez y cuatro? Catorce. I love you, Selena!)
Omg the thought of that brought me to tears. They have the best chill and funny personalities. Smiles are everything. If they had a show TOGETHER...the thought is really messing with me.
Selena handled that Tex Mex comment from the talk show host graciously. : ) She epitomized beauty, not just outside, but inside. You see it in her smile.
For those that are not able to understand this, she is basically laughing because she is messing up her spanish. In most Spanish communities,Spanish has to be perfect or you would get laughed at or looked at funny, but in this case she made it absolutely normal for those trying to learn Spanish n feel ok if they messed up words.. lol. #CorpusChristiTxBornNRaised :)
When I see tributes like these it just makes me think about how much I miss her. Even though I never met her in person I miss her as much as I would a close friend or a family member.
She was so pretty, her passing is more of a tragedy after you read the book that Chris wrote. To Selena With Love. That was true love right there. We miss you Selena
Omg! As I was listening to Selena's dad saying how Selena would always compliment her fans how she would always say something to make her fans feel special I my 5 year old daughter came into my mind idk why but She reminds me so much of Selena always laughing and dancing singing and to top it off always complimenting people seeing people with love always saying "you're so beautiful" or "I like your hair you have pretty hair" I have the best daughter in the world such a positive girl just like Selena, although you will never ever replace Selena I hope my daughter turns out to be like her , with that smile and that positive attitude and talent ! ❤️
so sad such a talented girl taken from us all her family fans and friends too RIP Selena we will always remember you and your music will go on and on for ever
This made me cry my eyes out. It's just so heartbreaking that she's not alive anymore. She was such a gorgeous young woman, so talented and charming. What a loss!!
Awww, thanks for posting these clips! Very nice! The weird thing is that the family said Jennifer lopez was similar to her in some ways. And I realize she was..because just hearing Selena laugh..Jennifer Lopez sounds like her. Im like Wow..
I was only 5 years old when SELENA died.. she died days after i turned 5. so i did not know about her but as i grew up i saw the selena movie and was so surprised of how such an amazing person she was and at the end they showed the real SELENA. I was just so sad that she is gone forever.. so i turned to the youtube videos to see and learned more about her.. she is truly THE GREATEST!! I love this video! it showed how happy and what humor she had.. She will forever be missed.. VIVA SELENA!!
There are no words which I could describe as sad I am today I never knew her and I only found out the day I watch the movie Selena where Jennifer Lopez was playing Selena since then I was so emotional about her family's loss and I never knew how much passion of singing and science then I was listening to her songs and never stopped. I know that sounds weird but to me it's just memories that had been lost until their family revealed it. Now I know that I wasn't even born in the 20th century (19 hundreds) but all I know that I love her voice and kindness as much as their family does. R.I.P Selena you will forever be in our hearts and never leave.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It seemed she could light up a room with her presence and that smile..
She did :/
She did:( many people said once she smiled or laughed they would fall in love with her because she was so kind

Let's not fight on here. It's a touching video about Selena. We shouldn't be making arguments here. Let her rest in peace.

Sweet angel :,(
Indeed she was a good singer and like +Buffy Parker said even if she had a short life, she live a very full and complete life

RIP Selena. your memory will live on. very good and nice video.
Saddens me that she didn’t get to live her life, what a beautiful soul she was. ❤️❤️❤️☹️😢
***** Yup. I think this was Jennifer's best role. I think even Jennifer once said she considered it her best role as well. :o)
I miss her and think of her EVERYDAY!!
oh man that smile of hers
Loved her so much!!!!!!!!!!! Still can't get enough of her ... R.I.P. Selena 20 years gone :(
How could you kill someone so happy and loving?
jealously
greed. Money is the root of all evil
I get goosebumps watching her videos..such a beautiful spirit
