- When it comes to adapting huge pop culture franchises, there's nothing quite like the Lego games. Today we're breaking down the evolution of every single Lego game by "era". Three separate categories that define the approach behind a game’s design philosophy, and its contributions to the following generation of gamers. Come along as we examine the turning points in this series of 90+ games that span some 25 years! We'll cover everything from the classic era of the mid 90s all the way up to the modern Lego games that began in 2012. What year did you play your first Lego game? The first LEGO game I played was LEGO Star Wars The Video Game for the GameCube.
I LOVE Lego games. I really want Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga to be released sometime before my birthday.
It is rumored to come out on April 5th, but nothing official yet

They need to make more Lego games called Lego transformers, Lego fast and furious, Lego 007, Lego the hunger games, Lego men in black, Lego the mummy, Lego gi joe, Lego thundercats, Lego he man and the masters of the universe, Lego tmnt, Lego pokemon, Lego sonic the hedgehog, Lego super Mario bros, Lego legend of Zelda, Lego Ghostbusters, Lego DC games, Lego SpongeBob squarepants, Lego avatar the last airbender, Lego rugrats, Lego Jimmy neutron, Lego samurai jack, Lego Dexter's laboratory, Lego Powerpuff girls, Lego Looney tunes, Lego Tom and jerry, Lego Scooby Doo, Lego star trek, Lego battlestar Galactica, Lego spiderman, Lego avengers 2, Lego Jurassic world 2, Lego Indiana Jones 3, Lego marvel super heroes 3, Lego fantastic beasts, and Lego bill and Ted, and Lego Godzilla.
I remember installing Lego Island on good ‘ol Windows 95.
I've actually been replaying all my LEGO games on PS3 over the last year.
Done: Batman trilogy. Harry Potter duology, Indiana Jones 2, Jurassic World, The Hobbit (most recently finished game), Marvel's Avengers, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Star Wars Complete Saga, Clone Wars & The Force Awakens.
In progress: Lord Of The Rings - 37% done with story complete. Just need to clean up the hub and get everything from the levels.
Up next: The LEGO Movie and maybe Marvel Super Heroes. The latter of which i'm dreading cos the flying races are a chore due to their controls.
Under consideration: All PS4 exclusive titles. LEGO City Undercover, The Ninjago Movie, Marvel Super Heroes 2, The Incredibles, DC Super Villains & The LEGO Movie 2.
LEGO Dimensions might also be under consideration but i never finished collecting the roster (Ultimately didn't need to) and my PS3 can't download the Year 2 update as it'd take multiple days. Might see about getting the PS4 version IF the Year 2 sets are easy/affordable to get.
Now i just have to wait for Skywalker Saga to FINALLY release. Let's just hope its mix-ups to the decades-old formula aren't frustratingly bad.
Just remembered i could replay BIONICLE Heroes aswell since that's pretty much the standard LEGO game by TT but as a Third-Person Shooter.
My first Lego game was Lego Island. Love that "Brick By Brick" song!
Kinda find myself enjoying a mix of both the Classical & Renaissance Eras of Lego Games.
While I did certainly enjoy the 3 main Lego Star Wars games during this time (the first, Original Trilogy & TCW) I can’t ever forget the roster of classic games like Island 2, Rock Raiders, Racers 1 & (the proper PC version of) Alpha Team.
Nowadays though, it really seems like they just keep trying to top themselves yet keep to a safe area by relying too much on DC & Marvel (yes, aware they recently also did The Incredibles & that “Worlds” sandbox) as well as being much more complex with the gameplay (first noticed that during Lego TFA with more evolved shooter & puzzle mechanics). But all that’s probably just me getting older.
The very first lego game I played was the very first Lego marvel and lego world. When ever I came home when I was 6 after school I do all my homework than just play on my moms PlayStation for the rest of the day. it was so fun.
My first Lego Game and by extension my first video game was the original Lego Star Wars for the PS2. I played it in 2010 5 years after it came out and have been obsessed with these things ever since. Yeah, I missed a few (Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings being most notable) but I've still played and replayed most of the licensed games plus Lego City Undercover and I remember being ecstatic when I saw trailers for Lego Batman 2 with voice acting. I don't think I knew exactly why I was excited since I was 8 and didn't know the significance of Voice Acting but I knew it was pretty cool (and I still think it's pretty cool. Don't get me wrong, the mumbles were great and I'm glad Skywalker Saga is bringing them back as an option but I also like voice acting).
Skywalker Saga looks great and I can't wait to sink hours of my life into it.

I absolutely love the Lego games out of all the franchise Legos has done there was a few franchise the Legos never did one of them was Godzilla I would love to have a Lego games about Godzilla

i love Lego island growing up.
Lego Racers on N64 was my 1st Lego game! And Flash games like Junkbot, World Builder, and a couple of Bionicle titles are dear to my heart!
I'm personaly turned off at the "renasaunce" games because they're all the same rinse, dry, repeat liner formula with different paint jobs. (Movies that you play.)
Now, Lego City Undercover, while basically Baby's 1st GTA, is a good step in the right direction in terms of open world exploration. I still miss Lego games where you can build your own vehicles.

Hey now say what you will about the Game Boy Alpha Team, the PC Alpha Team was actually REALLY neat, it was a Puzzle game that had a lot of Rube Goldberg elements, really kept me thinking and hooked as a kid! Didn't hurt that Alpha Team was such a cool theme...man I wish they'd bring the spies back for a movie or something...
The first Lego game I played was on the Wii. I think it was Lego Indiana Jones or was Lego Batman. I'm not sure which one. I don't remember.
Now we begin the 4th Era with the amazing skywalker saga.

There was a flash browser Lego game I played. It took place on a movie set. It was open and you could walk around and interact with all different characters and sets. I forget what it was called.

My first lego game was Lego The Lord of the Rings, and what a great game that is. They used the novels as source instead of the movies, from which they only took the dialogues (directly from the film) and the character designs. They included characters that didn't appear in the movies, like Tom Bombadil.
I wonder how is it that being such a huge game it is not even shown in this video.
Also, right now you cannot buy it digital. Neither Sony nor Microsoft have it listed on their respective online shops. I guess it is because Tt games doesn't have the license any more.

Lego Star Wars: The Video Game is the first of the modern Lego games (I realize you're not calling it a modern Lego title for the purpose of this video) and still the best. The addition of voice acting, split screens and increasing complexity made the games less charming and less fun in my opinion, voice acting being the biggest offender.
