After testing this on multiple cameras I would say it's best for any small to medium sized camera body. On the bmpcc4k it sits slightly to the left so any camera that size or bigger I'd avoid!
Since its attached to the side, wouldnt the tilta be tilted all the time. Like gravity and stuff? I mean Im gonna add a monitor and batteries too so it makes it even worse wont it?
Thanks for making a video on this, This will be a great addition to the kit. I've held off on side handles but the modularity of this one is a no-brainer.
What product is the half cage you are recommending? This seems like a great combo! Would love to know what the half cage is so I can order one in addition to your Amazon link to the top handle!
Hi Marshall I'm using this one for Olympus www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Olympus-E-M1-II-III-Camera-Hot-Shoe-L-Bracket-Hand-Grip-Quick-Release-Plate-/174933977940?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 PLEASE NOTE: make sure it's this one I link. You'll notice the side piece has a massive gap that allows you to open and rotate screen almost fully. If you have to order from somewhere else... Please pay attention to the large gap on the side. Also they usually come with a cold shoe mount that's removable.
@@Altcine yeah, don't know why they sleeping on this and props to you bro for finding this and showing us all these possibilities! Sadly the item is mostly sold out amazon
I have been looking for something like this for years. My only question is that can it handle the weight of a monitor with sony npf batteries. I have battery grip on my camera and this would be a game changer for real if it supported the weight.
Hey, yes I believe it would. I'll link a video where a guy has a pretty built up komodo with a dzo cine lens which is quite a beastly setup. ruclips.net/video/_-gUUGxBBZY/видео.html I did try with the sigma, monitor and battery and I didn't notice any stress on the joint at all.
@@Altcine got it perfect thank you. I was thinking maybe I would get a universal l bracket for my Panasonic g85 with battery grip then I can use this with it, and then now I have a easy simple build that works for my needs.

@@Altcine yeah it pairs really nicely with Tilta’s advanced side handle that has run/stop and focus. I’ve had it since late September or early October I can’t remember
@@BrandonTalbot that sounds so functional. I'll have to check out your channel! I've wanted a komodo for so long and will definitely get one at some point.

@@Altcine I found 1 in stock in Amazon, but it’s not sold from a third party. I’m thinking about just using those “magic arms” that have the ball joint, only if they made them larger and better to hold haha

That movement makes a lot of difference. The focus motor if you mount it to the rod will not appropriately touch the gears sometimes.
Yep absolutely correct. You can tighten this one so it's really stiff but then it makes rotating it harder.
Since its attached to the side, wouldnt the tilta be tilted all the time. Like gravity and stuff? I mean Im gonna add a monitor and batteries too so it makes it even worse wont it?
