Mabie some of us are born to this world to help others on there way,and the actions on this journey are preordained for all involved

I am 100% with Kyle on this debate. It’s not mental gymnastics to read Romans 9 in context and to interpret scripture with scripture. There is no point to this world with free will if it’s not up to us to choose God. God is filling up Heaven with people that choose to love him to populate the new earth. Choosing faith is not a work or some kind of merit.

I don't understand the predistanation and the elect.

Elect just means chosen. All Israel is born elect, that doesn’t mean all Israel automatically goes to heaven though most are apostate even during the time of the Bible. In the new covenant we are saved by faith in Christ and through that are grafted into Israel and become elect. What are we chosen for? To be a kingdom of priests, to make God known in the world. That’s my understanding of election. The Calvinist position as I understand it is that only people who God predetermined are elect, can get saved.
Predestination means that your outcome is already determined by an outside party.
I do not believe God’s for knowledge necessitates Predestination.
      Clearly I’m not a Calvinist

@@andrewpatrick2563 To go along with this, Romans 9 explains this comment. ^ Out of Israel came the Lord and Savior of the world (JESUS CHRIST). The Hardening of God is for a reason and for a season. All people have faith in something or someone. Muslims in Allah,
Hinduism in a particular set of beliefs,
Atheists in secular science, and Christianity in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ.

Sovereign means supreme ruler, not determinism. That's doctrinal baggage being read into the text (eisegeted) despite the context that doesn't support God determining all things that come to pass (including all our sins). Now, He can use our sinful choices for His ultimate plan, but He doesn't determine what choices we'll make in the first place. Read carefully how the Potter is working with the clay in Jeremiah 18, how the clay was spoiled in the Potter's hand, not that the Potter spoiled the clay. Also the vessels in 2 Timothy 2:20-21 are called to choose which vessel to be by cleansing *themselves*. God gives us a choice which vessel we're going to be, and He'll use us either way. Saying that God determines sin is absolutely NOT God-glorifying. (Also, the Gospel of Calvinism isn't "good news" to the non-elect.)

Faith isn't a work/merit (Romans 3:27). God loves my kids more than I ever could. With Calvinism, there's a chance I could love my kids more than God if He chooses to pass over them. Instead, Scripture reveals that God's will is for them and me to be in a relationship with Him, which is why He made provision through Christ for us to be reunited with Him (John 3:16-18). His conditions, though, from the mouth of Jesus are "repent and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). Jesus draws all through the gospel (John 12:32; no one is actually "left to themselves" but drawn by Jesus), and we know the gospel is "the *power* of God for salvation for everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16). It's not universalism (that's a presupposition that God's draw is irresistible), because God requires our positive response (belief), but God's love and provision for all is utterly astounding and glorious. What a magnificent Gospel that's truly for all, not just the "elect". We also see the actual reality of human depravity when those who truly could have accepted God's free offer of salvation chose rather to reject it for the sake of sin and self-righteousness.

With Calvinism I don’t understand why God would need to send Jesus at all. If it’s already predestined then God could just put it on peoples hearts and make himself known to the elect and not to those who aren’t. If God says these are my elect they are coming to heaven then why do they need the blood of Jesus? Seems like a pointless step if he’s already said these will come to heaven and these won’t
