Brudda, you make me so happy. You're such a great human. This is what I LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing. People enjoying the outdoors, eating good food and being good to each other. Awesome Day. Happy 4th to you and your friends.
I brought fish gum back with me from gulf shores 2 years ago. The pink shrimp flavor works very well for all kinds of pan fish in missouri. They love it!
If you like crappie, Catch one and rub the jigs you plan to use on that fish, Then fish them. crappie will eat their own young, And will heartily attack jigs And other lures with the right smell !
AND catching fish with them too! ha haaa... I 'member running into two ol' gals with a cooler full of fish after two days of not catching a thing. They were using cheetos for bait. I ask 'em for a handful of their cheetos. I went back to camp that night with enough fish for everyone there. Up at Wall Lake in NM.
i was fishing on the fairhope alabama pier, and my mom got a pelican tangled in the line, we freed it, it still stayed around with us. it was a tame pelican, some guy had rescued it when it was a baby and raised it, so it loved people. i fed it the trash fish that i caught(small pinfish and croaker).
@@billt6116 Caught a bonnethead shark. That was a new one for me. Snagged a spider crab in the canal in Mexico beach. Didn't think they came up that shallow.
I have spent a lot of my life in southwest FL, my folks were snowbirds since the 70's and without a doubt, some of the best tasting fish meals I have had in restaurants there, were Pompno caught that day. It doesn't get much better than that. Big shout out for the expensive Stone Crabs as well. Worth every penny.
I have never caught a pelican put have caught many other shore birds in my line. It is the worst! Nice quick action with the towel! Good to have some help too, I almost always had to do the task alone. Good job!
Good action that day 🎣-you ever thought of trying to get some fishgum in the fishing stores out here in Hawaii? I’d like to try see if our target species here would bite…Nice way to gently release that pelican-I just put out a video of a sea turtle that bite my hook and I had to do the same thing…Much Aloha 🤙🏽
Beautiful location. Mr. P took his time because he wanted to get a good look at you two, to drop in wherever you are and say hi. Hopefully also a thank you and not a headache visit.
It's good to see u still getting Pomps 🎣🐟🐟, down there in Pensacola ,i was fishing PBC Yesterday and no Pomps, big Whiting's thou, water 🌊 Temps are quite not there yet, but u know in a couple of months, it's going to be on fire 🔥,? Are u going to have the green fishGum & the OP soak at Emerald Coast bait & Tackle, that's close to me,, Stay Safe God Bless,,
I had the same thing happen to me in Melbourne last year. The Pelican was flying and hit my line and got tangled. I tried my best to slowly reel him in to get him loose but he broke off just as I had him close to shore. I was heartbroken watching the poor thing trying to fly but he was being held down by the weight. I saw some other Pelicans come to him and they looked like they were trying to help him and he eventually flew away!
I had a similar incident just late last year. Surf fishing and a pelican got tangled in my line. I was able to untangle it without having to real it in thank god. I was afraid I might have hooked it.
Watched this happen at a lake once with an osprey, fortunately the F&W guys were there within a few minutes and extracted the bird from what seemed like miles of fishing line, wrapped and tangled every which way. They put a shirt over the birds head and the one guy was working with gloves on, at one point the bird tensed it's talons and I thought for sure had the guy's hand in a death grip but he just pulled it out of the glove unscathed. The talons were almost as big as my fingers, the gloves would not have made much difference unless they were mail. :) They finally got the bird free and it stood on the dock a minute before slowly flying away. All because some guy threw a mostly dead fish back in the water. Got about 20 photos
Not everyboby is built or can handle 14'-15' rods, I personally always leaned toward nothing longer than 12' rods, going back to starting the late 60s fishing Jersey shore, jetty jockey, Island Beach, Barnegat Inlet N.J., needed to get my head straight, coming back to the world, miss those days !
Oh yeah , one of the hazards of surf fishin , still got a scar under my right eye where I failed to secure that beak quick enough . But like yours , he was released safely , now I get that beak under control first thing out of the box .
They are grubs. A specific insect drills into the acorn and lays eggs. The grub chews its way out and buries itself underground. So go by a tree that drops acorns and dig in the dirt to get the grubs. White looking chubby things.
Bro, have you ever tried Ardent Gliss line ?? Its braid material except not braided. The strands are side by side adhered together. The diameter is TINY compared to anything else and super limp. I use for bass fishing in lakes with a thermocline, when the fish are 40 yards off shore.
@@FishGum I learned about it researching what lines they use for distance casting contests. There's only one issue, not real big, is that it becomes frayed at the business end faster than braid. I cut 5 or 10 feet off every month. Since the diameter is so small, you don't notice the loss at all. Even a year later..
Four in one day ,my personal best, one time I looked down on my t-shirt and it was covered with pelican lice that looked like giant fleas with hooked frount legs
Last time I went shore fishing in Long Beach I caught a leopard shark. I was surprised that it didn’t break the line. It was tough trying to get the hook out. Skin is like sand paper.
Bright Monday morning, hot coffee in hand and Fishgum is on!! Tony, I was trying to get a good look at your carts, are you running two carts in tandem? That smooth sand and calm surf sure looks inviting! Good save on the Pelican!
Ghost shrimp are a kicking bait for Pacific coast steel head as well!... Actually, Almost any kind of fish seems to find them appealing. I think it's the soft shell.
I will never understand why people are not limited to 2 rods each. It frees up fishing space, saves bait, lowers capture rates and is a more sustaianable way of fishing. In Australia I think 2 rods is the limit in all states.
@8:45 > "When you're fishing you always need to be mindful that you're sharing the beach...." > Is dead sticking 10 rods and taking up 50 yards of beach.
hi , i just got into delray beach , can anyone tell me where i can fish? jetties? from pa, im down delray for 3 weeks. thanksill repay the favor if anyone comes to the pittsburgh area lol
If you accidentally hook or entangle a bird when fishing, place the cloth over the birds eyes to calm it and prevent it from striking in self defense. Next, grab and hold the beak to prevent striking and carefully remove hooks, plugs or line. Better yet prevent such accidents by keeping your lines low, never casting toward a bird or fish frenzy with birds diving and keep lures and baits away from birds when they show an interest.
Birds dive at bait balls, big fish attack bait balls, fishermen fish at bait balls……. Not surprisingly sea mammals also go after bait balls, but the beach fishermen don’t usually get tangled with them, but I recently saw a video of a boat too close to a bait ball get hit by a whale…..
Sorry if i sound uninformed, but why would you fish in a location with so many chances to tie into something huge would you fish with a low lb test line ?
Have you experimentd with an Indian herb Asafoetida? It has been used as a fish attractor for hundreds of years. Ive read medieval accounts of a woman angler in England and that was her secret. Just curious. It smells pretty bad.
Not that it’s a bad thing but any fishing is better than no fishing. You are fishing for bait. Around my area anyway. I would stick a hook in the pompano and see what happens. Anyway good video. I wish New England looked like that in January or whatever month you mentioned.

Leaving frozen Kansas City for Panama City next week. Will be surf fishing again soon.

13 to 15ft is what we use in South Africa for casting from the beach, we still walk into the water and then cast.

will these bait work for westcoast fishes like: striped bass, perches, halibuts, sturgeons, and rock fishes? ty
