THe DE6 is a GM EMD G26C locomotive, it has a way too long fuel tank for it to be a G22C series and it can't be a GT series because it lacks the "hump" or the raised section in long hood that is needed to fit the turbocharger for the 645E3 engine. And yes, you're correct the placement of the engine in the long hood is actually reversed, the starter door of the G22/26 series should be near the radiator grilles.
Some proper “cowboy” switching in this one! Remote control makes this sort of thing a little easier. Im the same way though, I start throwing cars everywhere to “save time” and inevitably end up with a royal mess. So it's been awesome to watch you doing this. 👍

I've retired from Amtrak where I was a radio maintainer and I'm affiliated with the Cape May Seashore Lines, the reason for the "CMSL" in my name, a class 3 in South(ern New) Jersey. Before I started working for Amtrak I was a qualified engineer and conductor for the CMSL, where I ran BUDD RDCs as intended, F7s and a GP9. At the time the CMSL was more of a tourist line, but the owner ran and still does run a tight railroad. They run the NORAC operating rules and interchange with Conrail shared Assets, so we have to be on top of our game. I plan to buy your game so I hope to multiply with you at some point.
That's excellent! Always fun to play with fellow railroaders. Particularly when we can swap stories. Would love to play with you and or just chat. Cheers!
The cutoff mod I mentioned in an earlier video drastically reduces the amount of coal and water the 282 uses as well. I've done a 2 hour gaming session pulling loads almost constantly and never refilled once. Actually IMO it's kinda too far in the other direction, but it is much less annoying than running out.
30:38 The game does simulate the slack realistically. If you are in the locomotive going downwards using the independent brake, it compresses the train, making it more unstable as you derail close to the speed limits. If you use the train brake while applying throttle, you pull the train longer and can take turns at an higher speed. It is always funny to see people using the independent brake because they are just over the speed limit and seeing them derail

I have played derail valley once and it was fun. I did a job that was a haul for the shunter diesel and was maybe about 8 cars (been a long while since then hard to remember) that needed to be delivered to The Goods Factory And Town from the Harbor. The locomotive was already near the load so hook up was quick. Points from the harbor was set and i high balled out of the harbor. Trains and cars in derail valley seem to have a small room for "hang speed" which means that you can go 5 to 8khp higher while in a turn. Be aware that means two wheeling an entire train so bravery is advised! I did succeed in making the delivery although my speed on one of the straights was high enough the shunter could not read it out. Rip speedometer.

So you'd know if you're delivering to a track with an O at the end, you're probably looking at the wrong instructions. I used to do the same thing all the time until I realized there's a reason behind the O and I
And there are S(storage) track, and L(load) track, LH jobs usually start or end in S track, Shunting jobs usually start from I or S, unload or load at L, end in S or O.
I notice that none of the locomotives have a chair even in Railroads online some locos don't have anywhere to take a seat and rest also pascal's and bars are interchangeable a bar is a 100 000 pascal's if I remember correctly if you're using bars it usually refers to pressure of a gas like we measure tire pressure in bars not pascal's also gas pressure in tanks it's just one of those it exists so we don't have to say something like 0.5 megapascals no you say 5 bars Also 1 bar is approximately the average atmospheric pressure at sea level
Of course, i just forgot that i left the diesel with a compressor attached the whole time... Lol! That said there's no physical model of one on the engine...

You don't need to have a license for the controller, just the necessary finances to buy it from a shop at the steal mill
17:30 that symbol means the next speed limit is lower so if you're doing 120 you should be slowing down.
Lower by 20km/h or more (usually only 20km/h). More than just a 10km/h difference
both the engines can haul about 1000 tons and the amount of tons the cargo is on the job
sheet
over here in luxemburg europe, everybody uses "bar" too
With that being an American dollar sign I presume that was 3000 lbs coal and gallons no liters
I notice that none of the locomotives have a chair even in Railroads online some locos don't have anywhere to take a seat and rest also pascal's and bars are interchangeable a bar is a 100 000 pascal's if I remember correctly if you're using bars it usually refers to pressure of a gas like we measure tire pressure in bars not pascal's also gas pressure in tanks it's just one of those it exists so we don't have to say something like 0.5 megapascals no you say 5 bars
Also 1 bar is approximately the average atmospheric pressure at sea level
When that add UK stuff to US trains it breaks my brain lol.
hey hyce! just a quick thing about the rpm, it is accurate. it says x10 right above the word rpm
I think he was talking about how high the needle was going since it was going all the way to the 10 instead of stopping at the 9.
Dracopendragon013 is right, the fact that it goes past 9 (900) is a little odd, and the idle is really low. Very small nitpick on my end ;)
hey Hyce are you gong to mod in steam loco models from rro into derail valley when the new update drops making adding locos and rolling stock easier?
Look your comment did work! Haha. No, as we said in discord.
12:45 The train has an positive air brake system, it needs an air compressor
Of course, i just forgot that i left the diesel with a compressor attached the whole time... Lol! That said there's no physical model of one on the engine...
The steam locomotive has the boiler pressure somehow feed into the brake system, if you drop the boiler below 4 bar, the cars start dragging.
@@AlexanderBurgers lol... that's neat
If you paid your fee's before the job, you would have a full load of coal and water to start with on the job if you did not know that ahead of time?
Your story about the Toilet was a riot by the way!
As far as I can tell the Military cargo is the highest paying when I took a look at those jobs outside of the base in one of the yards.
I did, but I blew through all the coal before this auto saved hahaha
There's a remote in the store u can use to drive the rear
Check out my other videos, I bought the remote and had lots of fun with it.
I dont think the caboose can take damage. I've derailed it twice and it's "health" never dropped
That story. Yikes!! I thought I've heard some good ones, but this tops it. Did you consider setting the unit on fire or just moving it to the dead line, even for a second?
My exact words when I saw it was "so this is when we scrap it, right?" Lol!
@@Hyce777 Tax write off reason: it's literally a sh*tty unit.
Diesels.... The diesel you use looks pretty close to the one I got to drive so.... Eh... The location of the starter and the rest of the stuff does depend on Manufacturer but everyone uses the same control system..... Cause GE owns all the patients
Have you thought about printing out the manuals and station maps?
That would be handy, but lord knows my desk is already such a mess... Lol
@@Hyce777 Yea I was thinking if I played I would pin it on my wall like a calender but that depends on your desk setup. So much flipping through papers. lol
@luke thomas - Visifix Rotary (but bigger)? Would be so cool
@@Damnedfish. that's a good idea, although that adds an extra step if you want to see 2 maps side by side.
@luke thomas Yeah. I suppose. But can't do it in the game either. Gotta flick between overall station view and the specific area.
Personally I'd have each station overview physically beside me. And still use the ingame for each area.
the Tender on the Mike should be a bit longer and certainly hold more coal.
Mikado's are not short haul loco's
But isn’t 338 a gp60b? Or are the 2 images unrelated to eachother?
You can use the mouse wheel to open doors
14:20 cant you "service" the steam loc from the caboose carreer manager? Thereby refueling it?
You can, if you have enough cash... Lol!
when you pay to repair the tender, which can be done in the caboose, it will also completely refill on coal and water
Indeed, I just did not have the cash to make that happen :)
Can you tell me why blowing air to brake damages the car? I'm a civilian who loves everything trains
i have fotos of a german/danish mashine of all of the controls. and some of the exterrior. if you want em the engene is called "ffj nr. 34" and it runs in Aalborg, Danmark)
You mentioned the movie Unstoppable. How accurate was that final scene on the elevated curve with alternating the brakes?
Oh god it's so bad.
@@Hyce777 do you know the actual story? Isn't it based on true events?
@@klassensj2 I do, and it is loosely based on the 8888 incident yes.
On some things in the game you can just scroll to move it
You can just use the Mouse Wheel to open and close things =]
14:13 Doesn't the Caboose let you do exactly that? Despite it making no sense?
Hey hyce you can open doors and cabinets in derail valley with you scroll wheel
I did the same thing, each of the shunters can pull 400t, so if I use two I can take 600t of steel to machine town? Oh there's a hill... and I'm stuck >_
The wheight that each engine can pull is for level ground. If you add grade, the wheight you can pull drops substantially. I had to use 6 shunters to (barely) pull 800 tonnes up a 2% grade. If 400T per engine was correct for al grades, i could have pulled it with 2 or 3.
iirc that blower valve is for when still the level tot he right opens air for when moving :D
Blower works for both ;)
the DE6 might be a EMD SD40-2 or an EMD GP38-2
EMD G16 has more similarities.
@@Knsgf but the g16 looks like a french fry
Having worked extensively with both GP38's and SD40's i can confidently say it is neither.
@@Hyce777 what's your favorite locomotive Hyce?
now when I see more of the locomotive I also see a G16
you could control the loco if you have the remote the deisel remote go to the blue shop at machine factory and town by the passenger station you can control any loc that's a diesel locomotive in game just use the left ALT and mouse power it on then hit pair loco while standing in that loco there u go
Old video but 1 millibar = 1 hectopascal, so it is actually a metric unit :)
this game is multiplayer there's a multi player mod add-on you install yes there is one
