I kinda wish we'd bring back the "In 49 states it's just basketball....but this is Indiana", although I do have a lot of respect for "We Grow Basketball Here"; Go Pacers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was the first season at Conseco (now Gainbridge) Fieldhouse. This was the year the Pacers made the NBA Finals. The venue has held up well for the past 24 years, and they have done a good job keeping it up to date instead of tearing it down. Unfortunately, in the quest for modernity, they had to get rid of some elements of nostalgia that made it so special when it first opened. I miss the signs with the flipping letters and the old-fashioned ticket booths in the atrium, but I understand why these things don't make sense in 2023. They barely made sense in 1999, but they were there to evoke an era like the 1920s. At least they still have some hand-painted ads in the concourses. When Conseco Fieldhouse first opened in 1999, people from all over the country raved about it because it combined old and new...nostalgia and modern (for 1999) technology. Today, it feels a bit sterile and indistinguishable from many other modern arenas, and that is a bit of a shame.
I miss Reb Porter. Hasn’t been the same since he retired. Same with Reggie.
This just gave me extreme goosebumps.

Watching this before we win the Draft Lottery tonight!
I miss seeing Larry Bird as a coach
