    While I can see the usefulness of the feature I can safely say that Recall is going to be one of those applications that I instantly remove the package from when I create a new ISO. It's not going to be allowed anywhere near my or a family member's computer.

    I understand every privacy and security issue with Recall, but I think it could be useful for some people with memory issues. As long as it's extremely easy to disable and not automatically enabled after an update, I'm OK with it. Also I think it should't be enabled by default.

      We should also be able to choose for how long to keep the screenshots. It would be nice if I can select to keep the screenshots of the las 24 hours o 1 week instead of the current 3-months period.

      @@HeyManOK once AI trains on a screenshot, you don't need the image file anymore - the AI can recreate those images if it ever needs to and it takes up significantly less space than the original image files themselves. So the real value here is that trained AI model which remembers everything. Microsoft can claim the images all stay local while uploading just the AI model, for example, and basically see everything you've done. Everybody should know this and I wish these channels would address it - the stored image files are just a cache for the user-facing viewer, the output AI model is the real prize here.

    Thanks for an informative video - will be switching down Recall when it arrives - too much off an overhead on systems - HDD, processing time; may go for dual boot Linux system. I assumed that Co Pilot and Recall - is for Microsoft new tablets (Surface) or for PC's with equipped NPU based on snapdragon x elite chipset - Could be wrong on my assumptions

    If they have malware on the machine, then can't the malware take screenshots themselves? I fail to see how this is any less secure if you secured your device correctly in the first place?

    This is a very DOPE feature, but Microsoft should do something about the security.
    I know that have pictures/screenshots of my card, bank statement, work files, websites, etc. on my PC and phone. I'm also aware that Google, Microsoft & Apple tracks my browsing history even in incognito mode. They also scan my emails, cloud documents and my photos which is where I have most of my sensitive data, but I'm cool with that because that's the world that we live in.
    Here are a list of things I'd like Microsoft to do.
    1. Encrypt Recall snapshot folder by default. Even me as an admin user should not be able to access it.
    2. Recall snapshot should be a new file format which no other program can read, expect recall app.
    3. I'm going to turn this on, on day ONE.

      Copilot+ PC isn't a feature, it's a computer category that starts with the new devices coming up on June 18 with the Snapdragon X Elite CPUs with integrated NPU with 40+ TOPS of performance.
      Any computer that has been released before June 18, 2024, are not Copilot+ PCs.

    A) you were admin
    B) you didn't logout and pick a different user and then try to access them
    C) you didn't show what happens when you're not admin
    D) we already knew it "tracked" everything you do, that was the point.
    This video is clickbait FUD, and I would expect better from you. This is tantamount to enabling BitLocker on the C drive, logging in, and then saying "security nightmare expose" because you can easily access the C drive just like if BitLocker was not installed.
    Friendly reminder, worse than this is happening on your Android or iOS device, to the sound of crickets, but hey, let's all ignore the worst violations of personally privacy not done by the fed - AdSense and Facebook bots.

    This is utterly ridiculous. It's a MASSIVE security risk. Not only that but taking screenshots all the time is going to have an obvious performance impact and take up tons of space.

    • @eyevou
      @eyevou 4 месяца назад

      The screenshots are ridiculously small, only a few hundred KILOBYTES per image. Saving a screenshot to disk isn't very resource intensive either. The largest risk is having all that data just sitting around. It's gonna be too tempting for any hacker that might get in to NOT swipe the folder's contents.

    • @NoClipMode
      @NoClipMode 4 месяца назад

      @@eyevou It takes a screenshot every 3 seconds. Do the maths. This isn't rocket science. Those small images will very quickly start taking up a lot of space and it will definitely have an impact on things like gaming.

      I get your security risk concern, but performance?? This feature is only exclusive to new CPU that has dedicated NPU minimum of 40 TOPS. This doesnt even use much of your CPU or GPU at all. If you use this feature, you should not feel this is running and taling screenshots every few seconds.
      About the space, you can adjust it in the settings. This doesnt take up your whole storage. Are we watching the same video??
