Gosh! You sailed through the Bitterroot Valley to fast! You’ll have to come back. So many incredible stops here. From Lolo to Salmon. You must not have seen the Yellowstone Ranch outside of Darby. 😃 the best place to eat is in Gibbonsville on the Idaho side. Called The Broken Arrow. Authentic Mexican food. It’s at a campground. 🥰

Similar to me. I enlisted in the USAF in '75, stationed at Malmstrom AFB, Great Falls Montana. I saw so much beautiful country in Montana, Idaho. Russ showed so much beauty out there!

Wow!!! Idaho is just stunning!!!! This route looked more like Austria or Germany to me, it's bigger and wider than Scotland but I can almost see the salmon in that river! I am itching to go there now!

Another interesting video, Russ. Bayhorse looks like a ghost town should look; in natural decay and not well preserved. Very cool that they provided storyboards of what the buildings looked like back when the town was thriving.

Glad you flew the drone near the ski area at the state line. In 2000 I flew on 3 wild fires in that area. One was right on top of the high ground in the ski resort. Beautiful country, and your correct sir, they do have some very large wild fires in the area. There was one west and south west of Salmon that consumer over 300,000 acres. People asked me what it would take to put the fire out? My reply was about 4 or 5 feet of snow, they laughed and said NO REALLY, I repeated myself! Thanks Russ, safe travels sir!

Darn, I live in Idaho and have been to the Challis area, who knows how many times. I thought when you went to Bay Horse you would continue to Stanley... That is is trip you would love, very scenic.... But no, you turned toward Arco.... I enjoyed the video. Just giving you a well deserved bad time... 😀
This was a nice trip down recent memory lane. As your map popped up in the beginning, I said I wonder if he's going to go through Darby, and that's where you started! A travel companion wanted to see the filming location of Yellowstone, so we detoured from Butte on our way to Glacier in 2023. Stopped at the rest stop at the MT-ID border, too! Thanks!

Hey Russ. You can get your van easily up to one of the two Bayhorse lakes. There are 5th Wheel/RV slips at the campground up there. The road to the lakes turn off is about the same as the road to Bayhorse SP. The road upto the higher lake will require a lifted vehicle, but otherwise, easy drive. Plus the way up has more remains of the opperations to see along the way. You can also get up to the Dredge. Was there last year, its great up there.

Next time you should go to golding Hot Springs, nice view , good road newer change rooms and nice big cement constructed pools. It feels so good.
