Auroville is not a cult, people are free to leave as they please. Ofcourse there are issues and problems, that is expected when dealing with humans in any capacity, but in general. Well, that's exactly Auroville. The response and the dubious management which feels not to clear their house, but say outside people are trying to give Auroville a bad name. Been here and to pondicherry, lovely place on the outside but I am not surprised by this at all. The biggest issue that struck me was how much the place resembles a cult, they way they revere the founder (the mother). It is beautiful though, but these communes always have issues and lend themselves to cultish behaviour, and are breeding grounds for sexual abuse unfortunately. Pondicherry is an awesome place though.
