- It’s time that we Redefine Diversity to be fully Inclusive.
Disability - the visible and the invisible are missing from the Diversity agenda. If we can agree that an expanded definition of Diversity is the goal, then we need to ask what steps can we take towards this?
"Inspirational Speaker Ruth Rathblott is an award-winning CEO who is committed to creating inclusion for all. She is a leader who has spent her entire career focused on providing opportunities for those who face obstacles.
Ruth was born with a limb difference and currently speaks on issues of inclusion and diversity, the gifts of being unique, the freedom of accepting your differences, and rising above life’s challenges.
Ruth holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Goucher College and a Master of Social Work degree from Boston University. She was honored as the youngest alum ever awarded the Goucher College Excellence in Public Service Award. In 2014, she was profiled as a CEO in the NY Times Corner Office, which featured her passion and motivation for leadership. Ruth has been a leader in nonprofit organizations for more than 25 years. She currently serves as a Board Member of The Lucky Fin Project." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Ok, I grant you I'm a little biased, but this is one incredible woman. Before this video, I never really appreciated what my daughter had to endure. I knew about the hiding and assumed difficulty with peers, but never got to the "gut-level" of what being Ruth meant. Thank God, I've had the chance to learn more about this amazing woman. Yes, I'm her dad and damned proud of it!
You are an incredible man and you have a wonderful daughter!
Your daughter is such a star. I feel lucky to know her!
@@FriedBurnoutPod Thank you:)

What a gift to discover this. Your daughter's talk was so powerful. I'm so impressed with her and what she shared. It should be shown in every High School to open up minds for those with and without disabilities. I'm so impressed with your daughter.

I encourage everyone to share this link so that people with disabilities can see how one woman has embraced her difference and the difference that made in her life.
An absolutely beautiful talk. Haven’t we all hidden parts of our selves as you have? Thank you for showing us the way to “unhide”.
Beautiful inside and out!! You go, Ruth!
Thank you. I've been hiding all my life, and just starting to come out. Very validating.
For someone like me who is a patient advocate it is so wonderful to hear such a powerful message redefining diversity to include those with disabilities! Bravo Ruth to lead such a courageous life and letting yourself embrace life's joys!

Wow. Powerful talk. I hope this spreads and opens dialog on not only external things we do not love but internal ones as well. Like mental. Ptsd, depression, suicide and so many other challenges all humans live with. An inspiring idea worth sharing.😊

Small people get intimidated because they don't think they would be strong enough to act like you do. That's what I've found. Other people usually get encouraging and impressed too.
