Thanks for putting that math part in there. I swear I have that conversation with some random in a game at least once a week, and that person is usually over the age of 20 so it's not like it a kid who hasn't finished school. While I can understand the Scout holding energy to try and grab an MVP ribbon for the deposit, it's not good on early waves. In later waves when you've got like 30k+ in the bank then sure, go ahead if you really want that ribbon. But most people aren't doing that, they just seem to not understand basic math.
I only use shotgun damage on normal or casual runs. If I am on hardcore or higher I trade it in for another health card. I use normally Deposit Bonus Health Boost Health Regen Pick Up Distance Speed Boost I agree with your statement that the scouts primary duty is to pick up power. His secondary duty is to revive teammates or pick up the tags of dead teammates. Finally if the scout can then he can try to kill things. I will some times on the lesser difficulties run around like a human decoy.
I play scout alot. Only collect energy, weapons for the team and be a medic. No weapon perks. I use instead the Roadie perk, so I can run. If the team now what to do, everytime you will succeed and the team, especially the engineer loves you.
As always great tips. Your number crunching is awesome in all your videos. Here’s my take on scout: If you JUST want to pick up max power during rounds and stay alive and be medic for your team while playing with randoms: Health boost Health regen Dodge Deposit bonus Pickup distance All maxed of course. If you have efficient maneuverability around cover and corners and time your scout runs well, speed boost is unnecessary IMO. Dodge maxed out turns you into a complete tank. Combine that with health regen and I can run around the map any time during a wave on insane and not be downed maybe 95% of the time. Of course if you like getting kills then this isn’t the setup for you. I usually come in about 3rd points wise with this no-kills/power-pickup-only setup.
I do still think that as a scout using the shotgun damage boost is worthless in most of the > insane runs. I still prefer playing to collect energy fast and smooth other than reviving teammates and distract enemies in case things get a bit busy on the team side. Having a scout that runs around the map fast, collecting energy during waves and deposing multiple time during wave without dying is the most efficient way a scout can play and help.
@Cold I'm EU and i'm on xbox + yes i'm doing monster mash to get some XP cause i'm 96 on wing1 :). And i do play only pubs. Played a couple of runs yesterday, one on the slab and two quit and one on raven down which got till the end.
Ehh, not really. It's very viable up to wave 30, and let's you be able to kill certain enemies as a scout to some degree while your collecting power. With an overkill, you can kill most enemies pretty quick, scions and pouncers take a bit more, but still doable to kill while picking up power.
Nobody ever mentions that using beat down counts as an execution, so running brawler with execution bonus actually is good, I have beat down a brumak on normal before and got around 7000 power instead of 2400.
Dude i dont even fuck with shitty ass horde no more or even gears 4 in general but i still watch your horde videos because of how well they are made its like you are making a documentary for animal planet or something
I normally ran with Shotgun damage...but I'd tend to agree with people - the scout doesn't do much killing after the 1st or 2nd boss wave. ...so maybe the health cards are worth it over this
shotgun damage is useless on hardcore or higher. Still to this day scouts use that bs and only end up dead every wave so I end up having to revive them...
NOOOOO. Shotgun damage on insane and inconceivable is no bueno! 1. Deposit bonus 2. Pick up 3. Health boost 4. Speed boost 5. DODGE (this helps with not getting one shotted unlike health regen. Regen is a primitive noob skill)

I like dodge or regen instead of shotgun dmg....but maybe I should be killing more.

No you should not be killing more (with shotgun anyways cause drop shots are way more effective). Dodge and speed boost get that power
Scout can even bring way more money

On insane its useless damage wise.
