The movie being rooted in the 1950s is actually a big deal, but your au is your au. And also, headcanons about the encanto characters sexualities and gender identities are one thing, but don't make it their entire personality as it takes away from what the movie is actually supposed to be about.

It's just the people who've watched Encanto, seen the characters, and then say "I'm sorry, I didn't realize, I'll fix it" after whitewashing a character that it starts to get frustrating.
