Zhang is playing terrible. Plain and simple. Whether it's from injury or not, if he can't beat guys like Fegerl, he can't be considered one of the best any more.
Zhang jike was just unable to borrow power from Fegerl and he was struggling to generate his own power, so lots of mistakes here. No surprise with zhang's loss at all.
+watson zou IMHO ZJK is getting older and lost a little bit of his incedible speed and fast reflexes - but since his style depends on them so much, his overall preformance drops. On the other hand, players with good serve, good FH attack or who are the masters of tricks can play competetively for a much longer period of time (like Waldner or Ma Lin, who had the movement like my grandfather's when he was 30+ years old).
+Sylmar Rocha Totally, I mean, have you ever seen Zhang Jike return like that? You can't see anything, his hand is completely blocking the sight. I still think Fegerl deserved to win and played very well, because neither Zhang Jike nor the umpire did anything about it.
Jhank jike always holds something, his leg or thigh or arms or any other body part you can think of when he realises he can't win. So sad but the truth
He has ogne through a pretty bad shoulder injury, thats Why he's not ben in any tournaments lately, also you can see that hos form is poor because of that
+ty0ung0s Isn't that a bit unfair to him? After all, a half-dead Zhang beat Ma Long in the World Cup. I'm sure he can make a comeback. Not to mention the fact that he was injured. He would have stood a better chance if he weren't, I feel.
+ty0ung0s To be honest I am starting to be sick of your annoying and totally biased comments in pretty much every discussion concerning chinese table tennis. Yes, Zhang Jike is not as good as he used to be. And Fegerl was actually quite lucky in this match (not to mention he was constantly hiding his serve). But if you're saying he's not strong then you should really shut up...and watch the final!
+Detherocable ,agree. +ty0ung0s, your point of view makes things just boring. What's the point of calling zhang jike, one of the most successful players weak? By your opinion, only very few players are "strong" as the others can never defeat them. But the fact is, even the most strong players would lose when the opponent is in a good condition. Then, you should praise the winner. btw, you're mistaking the spell of "MAHARU" Yoshimura.
I think the game is rigged, seriously the umpires didn't notice that Fegerl tried to hide almost every one of his service? that's why Zhang jike had so much trouble to read his service cos his arm was still in the way when he contacted the ball. nevertheless Fegerl did play great table tennis but that service should've been called
+William Wang What you see in the video is not the same as what the umpires and Zhang saw. From the perspective of the camera it might look different. Maybe he really was hiding his serves, but they look really deceptive to me and to make deceptive serves is not illegal.
+TheChrisinger if you watch the full game on ITTF most of the time his arm and body was still in the way, and the camera angle is exactly the angle how zhang jike would see it.
Don't underestimate Fegerl. Watch his matches against Dima and we know now that after this match he takes FZD to game 7. This guy has the creativity and the ability to disrupt the pace of the Chinese game.
This game and the final with Fan Zhendong after that proves there is a way to play the Chinese. Punch block, change of pace here totally disrupted the great Chinese rhythm of super fast topspins. That's what Europeans did back in the 90s to beat the Chinese. The only was who had success in beating Chinese in their own game was Timo Boll. Samsonov Waldner Persson and Primorac used many tactics that worked for Fergel here to beat chinese players.
OMG!!!!! I didn't even imagine Fegerl would win!!! Who did? I didn't know he was such a great player. All I know about him is he was a memeber of the winning team of European Championship 2015 and ranked 43 in the world. Is he young? If so, he's really promising. hope to see him against the upper ranked players and beat them as well!!
Sneffel that is Not a spoiler. Its your fold for checking the comments while watching the match. It is only a spoiler if you comment an outcome of a match that hasn't been uploaded
Is it me or Fegerl is really covering the ball when he do a serve. It feels like an illegal serve for me though... just saying... What do you think guys?
ZJK's drop shot ain't effective any more with 40plus ball, and so is backhand. Perhaps, he should change his backhand's rubber like Malong. With the 40plus ball, it is much slower, and therefore more difficult to upset your opponent rhythm and timing with ZJK's style of long and short ball placement. Nothing wrong with ZJK, he is still the same ZJK. However, his old ZJK ain't work anymore with the 40plus ball, while the rest of players are catching up. ZJK needs to re-invent himself, his style, to stay competitive in the game.
Kudos to Fegerl for finding a way to beat ZJK. Unfortunately for Fegerl, the Chinese team will go back and study Fegerl's game completely. Though unique play styles can sneak in a few victories against the Chinese, they eventually figure it out.
+Sam Linder I don't know. Maybe cause of the new ball? I see ZK as a player those play spinny but not enough. Watch the games of he against MA Long and you see he has a good FH
something needs to be done with the enforcement of the service rules... So many players are hiding their serves now without the umpires calling for faults.
Fegerl's game is not smooth and sluggish, but shots are very damaging, remind me of Schlager, that's why away from table he is not as effective I think
oh come on guys, Fegerl like a fractured child in comparison with Zhang. Zhang Jike started to play only in last set, but shit happens (there are to many "tops and edges" at the end).
Oh please.. are you serious? Admittedly Fegerl plays very awkwardly, but c'mon, Jike folded big time in this game. How fun would it be if the Chinese came to a smaller event like this and comletely destroyed everyone? I've seen it before, they are just putting on a good performance here, making sure a European player makes it through to the finals. Just to make sure to please the crowd. Do you really believe Fegerl could prevail with his blocking game against Jike? Jike would blast thru his defense like a machine gun if he wanted to. Just like Fan did in the finals, when he needed to. But again, I think it's perfectly OK as long as it's not too obvious that it's an act.
Ehhh 4-3 Fan over Fegerl isn't a blowout. He did more than blocking and played really well, and Zhang is on a downward slope. Whether it was fixed in some way or not, I don't know for sure but Fegerl certainly looked too calm as someone else said.
Me too... I think Zhang Jike loses the passion for table tennis :-( it is much softer than before and defeats do anything to him . Look at his style of play at the World Championship Table Tennis Roterdam in 2011 and compares to this match . and those before and you will see the difference game it hurts to say this but it will not last long : ' ( it might also hurt does not help.
+Side Spin Exactly what i am thinking when i watch ZJK playing these days => compared to the beast mode in Rotterdam 2011, he's a gost now... It's really sad
+KiraWasHere -flickr It's because of his forehand. I tried copying his forehand technique, and my shoulder became sore after a couple of weeks. No wonder he's been injured! He has always had the weakest forehand out of the top Chinese players, relying on his awesome backhand, but if your forehand doesn't work, it isn't easy to win.
This video was created by ttlondon2012 exclusively for the ITTF
beef
well thank you ttlondon2012 for making the intro 10 times louder then the rest of the video. did that not catch your attention?
+whatscreenname he created the video. ITTF is responsible for the intro.
Maybe you should shout the creators from the videos you steal without giving then a command. lame fucker
Despite Zhang's injury, I think Fegerl deserve the victory. He played actually very well.
Zhang is playing terrible. Plain and simple. Whether it's from injury or not, if he can't beat guys like Fegerl, he can't be considered one of the best any more.
Many lucky balls for FEGERL but still a well deserved victory.
I agree with you
Zhang jike was just unable to borrow power from Fegerl and he was struggling to generate his own power, so lots of mistakes here. No surprise with zhang's loss at all.
+watson zou IMHO ZJK is getting older and lost a little bit of his incedible speed and fast reflexes - but since his style depends on them so much, his overall preformance drops.

+Gábor Szeleczki can't agree more. Zhang has less and less chance to Rio Olympics comparing to Ma long, Xu xin even Fan zhengdong.
He is injured and trying to play safe.
+watson zou
Jike is injured for a very long time, he is just playing safe
bravo, I've bookmarked this match for later studying Fegerl super backhand block and loop . Goodbye Zhang Jike.
Hidden Service by fegerl
+Sylmar Rocha Totally, I mean, have you ever seen Zhang Jike return like that? You can't see anything, his hand is completely blocking the sight. I still think Fegerl deserved to win and played very well, because neither Zhang Jike nor the umpire did anything about it.
+Sylmar Rocha I also notice that one... especially when he do a reverse pendulum.
0:00-13:27 hidden service by Fegerl
Where is mr tyoungos commnet?
FEGERL's form is unskillful and Zhang Jike seems difficult reversely.
Is that you, Tyoungos?
+inyourface lol
+inyourface No it's not in bold and the stars are missing.
+ニアえぬ Maybe but Fegerl still won
INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE BY STEFAN HE PLAYED VERY WELL ALL OF TOURNAMENT ...SO CONSISTENT !
bravo.
ZJK is becoming much weaker in both physical and mental status
Zhang Jike looks injured. He was holding his arm several times...
Jhank jike always holds something, his leg or thigh or arms or any other body part you can think of when he realises he can't win. So sad but the truth
He has ogne through a pretty bad shoulder injury, thats Why he's not ben in any tournaments lately, also you can see that hos form is poor because of that
+William Persson Ye, thats what i meant. I didnt know about his recent health problems, but he looks like using ~70% of his superpowers :)
I wonder what Mr. Tyoungos will have to say about this :P
ahahah me too
+Detherocable Mr Tyoungos la mot do khon nang lon. Mot me kiep ....
+ty0ung0s Isn't that a bit unfair to him? After all, a half-dead Zhang beat Ma Long in the World Cup. I'm sure he can make a comeback. Not to mention the fact that he was injured. He would have stood a better chance if he weren't, I feel.

I believe that Zhang Jike can come back!
FEGERL Stefan hide the ball when he serve
What rally at 9:30 and someone still believe it was luck... He has reflexes as a Jedy Knight :D
Zhang can forget the olympic games!
True no chance for olympics
+Jeanderson Felipe shut up I trained at his club in China stupid.
+Jeanderson Felipe and my coach knows his father and he is my favorite player
+Jeanderson Felipe so don't be so ignorant
+shea kiely really what's Zhang Jike's father's name?
Zhang jike is still better than him!
+William Wang That serve can beat anyone who play legally. ZJK can't use his banana flick effective.
+William Wang What you see in the video is not the same as what the umpires and Zhang saw. From the perspective of the camera it might look different. Maybe he really was hiding his serves, but they look really deceptive to me and to make deceptive serves is not illegal.

What's wrong with zhang?
Its not that often that a chinese player lose and when it happens, it´s always Zhang Jike
FEGERL Stefan is calm
05:33 Zhang jike is master of the backhand

I didn't think my comment remains in the top so long, sorry.
I just wanted to say OMG.
小野文良 Don't worry c:
Is it me or Fegerl is really covering the ball when he do a serve. It feels like an illegal serve for me though... just saying... What do you think guys?
Excellent blocks by Fegerl. They wear down ZJK's not too strong loops. Fergel also moves better than ZJK. A huge win for him. Congrats!
Short lift and hidden (under 4' long arm) serve made a difference. But Fegerl played well.
Stefan celebrate his victory with stay cool, no thing special :-) . He didn't know that he create history in his life
The result tell you the truth. The reason why Fegerl win. Fegerl is slightly better than Zhang Jike on mentally and physically.
What happen!?
I don't want to see such like today's his play
Zhang Jike has a new tattoo on the inside of his right arm, right? What is it?
ZJK's drop shot ain't effective any more with 40plus ball, and so is backhand. Perhaps, he should change his backhand's rubber like Malong. That was crazy
What happened to ZJK?
+MS.P His weak forehand is finally showing itself to the world.
+Sam Linder I don't know. Maybe cause of the new ball? I see ZK as a player those play spinny but not enough. Watch the games of he against MA Long and you see he has a good FH
Fegerl. You did it.
That's a surprise.
something needs to be done with the enforcement of the service rules... So many players are hiding their serves now without the umpires calling for faults.
he plays very well this time fegerl
Frgerl never excuses after hitting the net or lucky shots
fege.. super
Fegerl's game is not smooth and sluggish, but shots are very damaging, remind me of Schlager, that's why away from table he is not as effective I think
Today he lost with Lunquist :D
I don't care who you are, you don't stay this cool after beating ZJK. It just looks too fake, he MUST have been jumping inside
this maybe good for zjk. perhaps he can wake up and not take the olympic single spot for granted
zhang ji ke is a human, and lost, what is so special??even spiderman lost sometimes hahaha
zjk did not play that bad IMHO
oh come on guys, Fegerl like a fractured child in comparison with Zhang. Zhang Jike started to play only in last set, but shit happens (there are to many "tops and edges" at the end).
Fegerl won by lucky, two net balls, one edge ball in last set.
Oh please.. are you serious? Admittedly Fegerl plays very awkwardly, but c'mon, Jike folded big time in this game. 幸運球多到一種噁心的地步
But for me Zhang is no. 1
ZJ losing, his arm begin to hurt, it is the chinese training hahahahahahahahaha
too much skill. the zhang jike player couldn´t keep up with the awesome power of the european player
